I'll always remember Jimmy Hart "randomly" picking him from the audience for the Ultimate Warrior push up challenge. Tenta entertained me before I cared about workrates and such. He probably wouldn't as much now, but he was great back in the day.

Well, looking back at other examples, Ty Cobb is probably not given his due for being the best hitter because he was a racist and an asshole. Barry has been striving to reach that level for a few years now. Besides things like these comments, Bonds has been a dick with things like not letting the league license his name when players from his fathers depend on that money for their pensions.

Things like this is why the majority of fans will never say that Barry is the best baseball player ever. He's just such an asshole and all of his amazing accomplishments will never overcome that.

So, how much do you think getting bitch slapped like Tampa did last night will affect them in the next game? I gotta think that it'll hurt their confidence level in games 3 & 4. If the Flyers can jump out to an early lead, they should be able to rattle the Lightning.

The thing that pissed me off was that the judge who had it for Marquez gave the first round to Pacquiao 10-6. That means that he scored the rest of the fight 10 rounds to 1 for Marquez. I had Marquez winning maybe 6 or 7, but certainly not 10 of 11. Judges in boxing suck. I don't even want to get started on the draw.

this is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have read in weeks. Not spending much time in CE lately, huh? It seems that I'm in the minority as far as giving this series to the Spurs. It's far from over people. 2-1 is not anywhere near insurmountable. That being said, I think that they'll be major changes in LA next year regardless. I'd be surprised if Kobe, Payton & Malone aren't all in other cities next year.

You can make an argument for AI. Unlike Erving, Iverson has played his entire career in Philly. Until after this summer (hopefully). It's like the old question and answer, "Have you lived here all your life?" "Not yet." I think that this question has gone a little astray too. There are some teams that don't really have an answer IMO. Like the Lakers, Yankees, Red Sox, Celtics, etc. If a team has a wide range of great players from several different eras, it's hard to say that you associate a single player with that team.

What are the causes of prisoner abuse in Iraq?C Dubya 04 replied to C Dubya 04's topic in Current Events I actually think that it's the other way. The military does not have the time to make sure everyone they detain is a threat. But that's not necessaryily an evil thing, as long as shit like this doesn't happen to those people. They aren't going to mess with anybody unless they're under attack. People have this belief that the military just LOVES killing people. Given the choice, most military people would prefer to never have to be used. -=Mike ...Not attackin' ya at all, C Dub I don't think that the military kills without reason, but I assume they'll take prisoner anyone they suspect could cause issues and rightfully so.

I am a drunken slut who loves to infect cunts. So true.

Not too much happened after that. THey were all in the empty apartment talking about how they had all lived there at one point or another and all left their keys on the counter. Then left to get coffee. I can't believe that people wanted it to end on a sad note or something. It's not meant to be that way. Not everything has to be all artsy shit, some things can just be happy.

http://mediamatters.org/items/200405070003 I know, it's a "liberal" website, but some of these quotes are just too priceless, and they are quotes. The buck stops where? Amid calls for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's removal over allegations of the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. military personnel, some conservative pundits have their own ideas of who is responsible. Media Matters for America has identified at least four groups who have been blamed: women, feminists, Muslims, and the academic left. Women Ann Coulter, right-wing pundit and syndicated columnist, said: I think the other point that no one is making about the abuse photos is just the disproportionate number of women involved, including a girl general running the entire operation. I mean, this is lesson, you know, one million and 47 on why women shouldn't be in the military. In addition to not being able to carry even a medium-sized backpack, women are too vicious. [FOX News Channel, Hannity & Colmes, May 5] Linda Chavez, syndicated columnist and FOX News Channel political analyst, wrote: But one factor that may have contributed -- but which I doubt investigators will want to even consider -- is whether the presence of women in the unit actually encouraged more misbehavior, especially of the sexual nature that the pictures reveal. [The Heritage Foundation's website Townhall.com and The Baltimore Sun, May 5] Feminists George Neumayr, managing editor of The American Spectator, wrote: The image of that female guard, smoking away as she joins gleefully in the disgraceful melee like one of the guys, is a cultural outgrowth of a feminist culture which encourages female barbarians. GI Janes are kicking around patriarchal Muslims in Iraq? This is [Feminist Majority Foundation president] Eleanor Smeal's vision come to life. Had Thelma and Louise gone off to Iraq -- and sexually humiliated some of Saddam Hussein's soldiers as payback for abuse to Jessica Lynch a few cities back -- the radical feminists could make a sequel. ... Feminists are good at creating a culture that produces "equal-opportunity abusers," Donnelly says. What happened at Abu Ghraib is also happening in feminist America, she adds, pointing to an Associated Press article from last month on a "disturbing trend around the country. Girls are turning to violence more often and with terrifying intensity." ... Perhaps in the eyes of feminists this isn't a crisis but a potential social program and these girls deserve ROTC credits. [The American Spectator, May 5] Muslims Cal Thomas, syndicated columnist and host of FOX News Channel's After Hours with Cal Thomas, wrote: Some Arab commentators are repeating the myth that the West has, once again, humiliated Muslims. If there has been humiliation, it isn't the fault of the West. It is Muslims' fault. They took trillions of dollars in oil money, and instead of building a culture dedicated to elevating their people, including women, they have squandered it on agendas and adventures that had the opposite result. [Townhall.com and The Monterey County Herald, May 5] The Academic Left James Taranto, editor of The Wall Street Journal's OpinionJournal.com, [wrote: [T]he New York Times profiles some of the soldiers implicated in abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib, and to be honest, they sound like a bunch of losers. ... ncreasing the quality of military recruits would probably help avoid future Abu Ghraibs. One constructive step toward that end would be for elite universities to drop antimilitary policies, so that the military would have an easier time signing up the best and brightest young Americans. Many academic institutions have barred ROTC or military recruiters from campus for left-wing political reasons--first as a protest against the Vietnam War, and later over the Clinton-era "don't ask, don't tell" law. Whatever the merits of these positions, it's time the academic left showed some patriotic responsibility and acknowledged that the defense of the country--which includes the defense of their own academic freedom--is more important than the issue du jour. I'm going to add "Smoke on the Water" and "Satisfaction". Still not better than Layla, but very good and probably more recognizable.

I think that the 55-56 Celtics had 7 HOFs & the 85 Celts had 6. Those are the most that I can think of.

I don't really like Fantasia. Granted, I think that she's better than the other two, but her voice really annoys me. I can't even listen half of the time. I think it's clear that Latoya is the best. This is pretty slim pickins though talent wise.

Nice to see that you allow for the rest of the Lakers to score 9 points between em. Well, thanks for the laughs. My counterprediction is that TD will drop 123 points, grab 52 rebounds and the Spurs will win 134 to 78. (What, we're not still in fantasy land.)

Nobody talks about 1-AA. Hey, at least we have a playoff system and a clear champion.
-
I wish that David Stern ran the NHL, cause you know that the Flyers would be in the finals then. But, I predict a Flyers/Sharks finals anyways. Let's get Flyered up.
-
I think that there is a strong possibility that the University of Delaware will defend their title and become only the third back to back champions. Wait, you weren't talking about 1-AA?

Oh yeah, I get it. Censorship is okay if someone is saying something that you don't agree with. It's not censorship -- Mikey would still be able to get it distributed, and of course it'd get more press since Ashcroft, somehow, tried to put this film on the shelf... Yeah, I know it's not censorship, the company has the right to do whatever they want. Kind of like it's not impeding your freedom of speech if you get fired for cursing out your boss.

Well, you can count me in on all of the love for this movie. I thought that it was brillant. Now in regards to the topic above if it ended on a happy or sad note, Potential SPOILER I left the theater feeling that it was a happy ending, along the lines of "it's better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all." I'm not really the type of person who projects the future after a movie ends. In other words, I don't particularly care if things ended up working out for the two lovers (I think that it would but that's neither here nor there). I think that the ending was Joel's way of saying that he didn't care if things didn't work out, that for how happy he had been it was worth any potential pain. The overall thing I took from the movie was that we'll all have painful moments and memories, but to have the pain, you must first have had overwhelming joy and that makes it worthwhile. Sorry, that got a little long winded.
