This is a nice surprise. Heyman should add a new flavor to the show.

I pretty much agreed with the Rey-Tajiri rating. It's ridiculous to build a match with legwork and armwork and then just decide to stop selling it and have it not even play into the finish. It reminds me of HHH-Benoit, when Benoit worked on the arm the whole match and it didn't even play into the finish. The apron rana was real cool, as was the powerbomb counter to the rana, but these guys have done far better, and I know that deep down they have a **** match inside of them. I thought you overrated Taker-Brock, but generally agreed with what you thought of the match. No SD only ppv until February, they need to take this time to change some things around. The absolute burial of Eddy was awful.

Which Jacobs-Shelley match would you say is the best? I keep seeing insane ratings given to them, so i figured i would pick one up.

I wonder if I'm the only one who sees a goldmine in a CM Punk-Hulk Hogan feud. There's nothing wrong with building hosses, but if you plan on gaining a loyal following, good matches are generally a good idea.

TNA should look into setting up deals with sports bars to show their PPVs. It would attract casual fans that don't want to pay 35 bucks, but could get interested in the product. Absolutely no bars I've called plan to show the wednesday ppv or the 11/30, which is a shame.

I wish they would make some faces and heels in the X Division, and have some real feuds as opposed to the random dart machine making matches. The build to this week's three-way was a good start. However, putting 6 guys in some gimmick matches that allows them to jump from high places is not going to get them over, there has to be some character development in the X Division to have it ever draw anything. With Styles *supposedly* moving to the X Division, a nice heated longterm Daniels-Styles feud would be choice.

The love triangle was great, but hopefully this time it will actually have some sort of interesting finish.
-
I get the feeling that not even the writers know where this is going.
-
If I were a betting man, I'd guess the next places they try will be Florida and Chicago.
-
Because if he showed up on TNA, it would give them some momentum. Plus, I think there are people that come to raw to see RVD.

Funny, I thought he overrated it. It was a match where everyone and their mom knew the finish wasn't coming until the chain was used, yet Taker still tried an embarrasing version of La Majistral early in the match, establishing that winning is more important than using the chain...until later in the match, when he hit his finisher, and then decided that getting the chain is more important. Huh? There was insane overbooking, and the pace was extremely slow. A few cool MMA moves and a top rope chokeslam does not make a **** match.

What is with all the love for Rey-Tajiri? The rana to the outside was cool, but they had better matches on Smackdown! where the bodywork actually lead to something, and the wrestlers actually sold the body parts. It was just a bunch of spots.
-
I agree that that's what it was used for, but we saw John Cena of all people, who is way more popular than Steph, tap out earlier in the show. It's just ridiculous. It's bullshit to promise an "I Quit" match and then end it like that. And do we really want Steph back in 2 months? God, can't we introduce a new face to the GM position?

This is either a work or RVD trying to get his value up for after he leaves next summer. It's pointless if it's work, so I'll go with the latter. RVD is overly full of himself, I mean, there are so many workers in TNA, IWA-MS, ROH, etc that can put together far better matches than he can, and they can actually sell! Holy shit! I mean, everyone here is siding with RVD cause we all like seeing it stuck to Vince (preferably with hot pokers), but RVD is being a moron. In 2001, if WWE had any balls, they would have let RVD run with his huge popularity to the top of the card and possibly the WM X8 main event. Instead they shunted him down, and he hasn't tried as hard since.
-
I agree with him, except he overrated everything, as usual. But hey, at least he's consistent with ratings so you know what means what. The real bright freaking spot on all of this is Cena. If they want a hot Wrestlemania, they should turn do the angle-cena double turn, and then have Cena get the title shot at a heel angle at Wrestlemania.
-
I think Rob is making a lot of money selling the videos himself, I wonder if he'd rather keep it that way than release them commercially, especially while the promotion's main source of revenue is through videos.
-
I agree with the theory of Hogan bringing in more buys and thus exposing more people to the product, but couldn't that be accomplished without putting him in the main event?
-
Whoops, sorry about that, it was a mistake to say it was in its first year. I have all the shows, not sure why I typed that. Of course the NWA title is prestigious, but wasn't K-Kwik the champ just a short while ago? And hey, if you count the NWA title as the same thing as the WCW title, David Arquette of all people had it. The fact that Ric Flair *was* champion doesn't mean the belt still has prestige. It does give it a natural advantage, but having consistently good title defenses does more than just naming lineage. I don't really buy the notion either that you need "stories" to sell wrestling. Factions and hate between two wrestlers is good enough, you don't need nonstop heel/face turns and wrestlers running over each others dogs, etc. The original NWA didn't have excessive bullshit, and it drew very well. Why can't it work again?

Benoit actually got what I thought was the biggest pop of the night tonight.

Taker's La Majistral had to be the worst one I've ever seen. There were some cool spots, like the Triangle choke and the huge chokeslam, but it seemed dumb to go for Johnny Ace finishes before the chain even came into play, because you just knew it wasn't over. That's why I hate "on a pole" matches, the whole match doesn't matter until the item comes into play. The big dive onto the FBI was really awesome, though I fail to see the point in having C-level talent interfering in the main event. Nobody likes the FBI, and nobody really dislikes them either. They're just "there". I was really disappointed in Rey-Tajiri too. There were some cool spots, but all of the armwork lead nowhere, and by the end of the match Rey wasn't selling the arm anymore, and the legwork on Tajiri didn't even affect him on his big kick at the end of the match, or at any other point, for that matter. I guess I'm being a "workrate snob", but why have wrestlers randomly work body parts if it's not going anywhere? Vince-Steph had mad heat, and it was fine for what it was. They already have an insta-copout for her return, because she can say she didn't quit. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought "I Quit" matches were already no holds barred?
-
Maybe I'm living in a paralell universe, but I thought Taker-Brock was by far their worst match, as both guys seemed completely blown up 5-10 minutes in to me. Plus, how lame is it to do false finishes before the chain is grabbed? Nobody bought them at all, and rightly so. I guess I need to get No Mercy on tape when it comes out, because I thought the main event was in the DUD range. Cena-Angle was very good, but the booking tonight was APPALLING. Cena doesn't go over, Big Show makes Eddy look like shit, etc. Where is any of this going? Eddy-Chavo feud? Spare me.

Wow, for all of those drawbacks, RoH sure makes a lot more money than TNA! And they also continue to grow, and expand to different areas..amazing! In addition, with the revenue the promotion has brought in, the RoH video quality is way up. The PPV argument is such a joke. I guess this means that WWE is the best promotion on earth because they have a cable show and TV. Would you accept this argument? "If TNA is better than WWE, how come they don't have a cable deal!?!?" Of course you wouldn't, and you shouldn't, because it's a dumb argument.
-
Because they don't have well known names to show to a cable company in order to get a spot. They also don't have a parent company willing to take insane losses because they see it as a long-term investment. I just want to know who the "well-respected" writer is who said that. 20-1 odds it was Ryder.
-
I concede the Special K thing, I don't really understand that decision. However, Joe has added a lot to the title since taking it.
-
Have they ever tried to get the Briscoes?
