  1. I think Fertig the Vampire would be super over if he fought John Cena. He could hold a mirror up during the match, look into it, and do the "You Can't See Me!" shtick before hitting Cena with it. _________ I've seen the Bashams carried by the likes of Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Booker T, and Chris Benoit and it is my belief that they are both terribly boring and will not amount to anything in front of an ECW crowd, much like their failure of a WWE run.
  2. One of the Wizard awards in the Marvel comics in 2003 was: "Best Moment in Comics", with one of the nominees being "Captain America lays out The Hulk"
  3. I started reading comics again this month. I'm really digging The Civil War. It's totally not being any type of cliched crossover story. __________ Captain America in New Avengers #20 is just awesome. The art's a bit shaky, but the writing's pretty good. It should be said that Cap usually bores me to tears, and I loved reading him here. Non-Spoiler awesomeness: A) When he tells a certain hero "You once asked me what the difference was between wartime fighting and what superheros do. You're about to find out." B) Something he does at the end of the story to said hero. __________ That Wolverine issue with Nitro is the drizzling shits. From the ridiculous concepts stated above in the spoilers to the horrible art. Awful. __________ X-Factor is AMAZING. Great writing, pretty decent art. It's got lots of little, intelligent things that make you smile, and really seems to be an IMPORTANT book, especially involving House of M mysteries and The Civil War. Plus, if you've read #8, you know the shits about to hit the fan big-time. __________ Newest Amazing Spider-Man. Ron Garney's art is terrible and does not suit Spidey at all. Good read, lots of "What kind of fallout...?" things for Spidey in the future, I guess. He's not 17 anymore, get over it. __________ Ultimate Spider-Man #95-96. I like this book somewhat. Not these issues, though. For the most part, Ultimate X-Men has been easily the better of the two books, getting BETTER with time after a slow start. Spidey's been the reverse. From a great origin and beginning where great characterization and such were developed to sloppy art, stupid concepts (The Morbius Arc was HORRIBLE), to ideas with promise that I found to be WAY over-hyped (Venom storyline), Ult. Spidey needs a big kick in the BUTT ASAP. __________ As mentioned, picked up Ult. Spider-Man's #32-39 at a shop for $2 each. Hyped but a little dissapointed by the Venom arc. __________ X-Men came out this week. Epilogue to the "Blood of Apocalypse" arc. Nothing major here, especially with all the creative team shakeups coming next month. At least they're fixing the WORST LINEUP EVER in Uncanny (Bishop, Rachel Summers, Psylocke, Crawler, Cannonball) somewhat for the Shi'Ar story. God, they take everyone I HATE and lumped them all together in one book. Seriously. Even Cannonball has just been an awful character ever since Meltdown left him and he fought Gladiator in, I think, 341. Anyway those were my thoughts. Nothing big from DC I wanted.
  4. "so I was stunned" Mission accomplished.
  5. For those of you saying "Holiday Show" and saying it won't be historic or important: Wasn't the "Superkick Heard Round the World" that started WWE 2005's biggest feud of the year on...July 4, 2005?
  6. I noticed this as well.
  7. If it ends with Kane standing on a briefcase at the end of SummerSlam... "The case. Is closed." Buyrates will sore for Unforgiven.
  8. True, Van Dam's delayed "off the top to the rail" spot made me think: "WWE Main Event". But surprise, surprise, see what being given time can do for a televised bout? The match was actually worked like a well-paced WWE PPV match, which done correctly, resembles a great ECW TV/home video match from the 90's. Great job on both parts. Totally unpredictable finish, and a CLEAN one, to boot.
  9. I haven't been online since Monday. That said, Vampires and Naked Male Peeper or not: Rob Van Dam Vs. Kurt Angle on the 3rd week of ECW Sci Fi is so far the WWE Match of the Year.
  10. Shut up Meltzer. I'm right, you're wrong.
  11. Cena's great for heat and has gotten over his 2005 struggles to be a great main eventer in '06.
  12. Neal Patrick Harris
  13. Michaels/Angle had arguably the two best WRESTLERS who never fought going at it. It featured the awesome Jannetty/Angle match. The return of Sherri and the hilarious singing promo. Also, Royal Rumble beatdown. There was major hype for it, not some "internet buzz". Batista/HHH copied the formula from the previous year? How is that, since, oh, Benoit wasn't ON Raw until 2 months before the match, and it was a 3-WAY MATCH. A lot of people didn't even think Benoit would take it, and thought the title win would occur a month later in Edmonton. Rock/Hogan had JR salivating, the bad memories of Hogan's pitiful last attempts at working matches on PPVs, and the stupid truck attack. Plus they got to see Hogan and Rock work on free TV that same week. "basically enough to show that Hogan wasn't a main event star anymore." Odd, since he was main eventing Raws and had the most anticipated bout at Backlash that year. You forget that after putting others over, Hogan left the WWE for 2 years. Not to mention the fans absolutely took over the HoF ceremony for minutes chanting "one more match!". Plus the entire focus of Raw became Michaels/Hogan. And no one really saw the turn happening on July 4th. Quote: 'They thought, "Wow, Hogan's back and he's gonna face the Rock. Those are two of my favorite wrestlers ever and I never thought I'd see them wrestle." You obviously love Jim Ross. I'm not arguing this anymore. WM 18 blew, except for one shockingly great match that became legendary AFTERWARDS. If it was held in any other town, it'd be less legendary. End of story. Newsflash buddy: THE MAJORITY OF FANS WHO BUY PPVS AND ATTEND LIVE EVENTS ARE INTERNET FANS. THEY KNOW WHAT WILL SUCK AND WHAT WON'T.
  14. More semantics from you. Are you really going to use people like Rene Dupree, Johnny Parisis, and LILLIAN GARCIA as statistics for people Orton is more charismatic than? The issue is that Orton has not proven to be a capable worker or talker to justify his role: which is high upper card to main event wrestler. __________________ Edge, Flair, Michaels, Triple H, Cena, AAE, and Carlito are all more naturally charismatic than Orton. They're all main eventers, with the exception of AAE and Carlito. The only upper carder or main eventer with worse charisma than Orton: Kane. And I'm not including the Spirit Squad, who seem to be good talkers but have a lot of lines fed to them for their "cheerleaders in sync" routines.
  15. You're correct. However, if you're truly going by fan hype and not the post-match buzz and history: - Rock/Lesnar was more anticipated. - Benoit/HHH/Michaels was more anticipated. - Batista/Triple H I was more anticipated. - Michaels/Angle I was more anticipated. - Hogan/Michaels was more anticipated (though you can thank the Rock/Hogan bout for re-energizing Hogan's mystique) I think you overhype the build and need for the Rock/Hogan match, as it was silly (mack truck run-over) and Hogan had already faced Rock a week earlier. The insane crowd made it legendary, as most people predicted a stinker to something "OK".
  16. I want to be the Best Boy.
  17. The guy tried to mock the internet for universally bashing something that's actually worth bashing. You should be trying to get his number instead of posting a pretty lame sentence that references something you weren't even around for. Believe me, the last person I'm gonna start a little pissing match with is some fucking dweeb with a Lindsay Lohan icon. Because half the time I end up getting lazy and sound stupid and lose the argument. Slipping and losing it to someone like you would cripple me. Then I wouldn't be able to get down the stairs to the basement at said mixers, and I've only got one more year of college left. So in summary, stop creating stupid threads in HD.
  18. I just think they should get a clue, already. It's been years.
  19. "at least they didn't do anything truly moronic like putting the belt on Bradshaw." They did have Bradshaw main event a ton of Raws in a row, though. "We had the most anticipated match in the last five years (Rock/Hogan)" WHAT!?!? Dude, the build-up for that was a month. And no one expected it to be as fun and historic as it turned out being. Sting/Hogan (Starrcade 97), Austin/Rock (Mania 15), Austin/Rock (Mania 17) were way more anticipated, to name a few.
  20. I'm not a mark by any means, first of all. I just like explaining how Orton's work and push is bad for business.
  21. Actually, it is ONE title represented by two titles. There would be no ECW Title without the WWE Title. Heyman needed RVD to win to have the right to re-christen a title as a "World" title. Van Dam is the ECW World Champion. ECW doesn't recognize the WWE Title. But Van Dam likes it, because "it spins", and for some reason keeps giving the WWE a chance to win the thing back.
  22. I mean, that's like 15 months. How about "LET ME REPEAT THE FINISH SPOT" in one of the more blatant business-revealing spots ever with Jericho when he blew the RKO on Raw? Shall we continue with "Orton's feud with Foley delivers no emotional payoff for the fans" and only serves to make Randy look good by having Foley carry him in SPOTFEST HARDCORE MATCH that doesn't require pure wrestling ability? Why would that be? BECAUSE HE LACKS IT. Now now, don't forget. "Tonight on Raw, it'll be Chris Benoit and Edge against La Resistance...for the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE!" How about "the fans won't get behind a heel Orton title chase"...so we'll hotshot the chase into one episode of Raw and have Orton win a fucking battle royal over Jericho, whose match with Benoit at SummerSlam would have been 10x better and probably drawn more buys. I hear Triple H pushed for the super face turn for Orton that failed. So I won't blame Orton. But in 3 months, god damn did Orton look horrible. Shitty Kane cage match that JR plugged as "BAH GAWD ORTON HAS OUTSMARTED EVERYONE!" Slow, shitty offense against the then-equally slow Triple H at Unforgiven. An OK outing, dominated by the better face workers at SSeries. A stupid "concussion gimmick" storyline throughout '05's early outings. The inclusion of Bob Orton was almost too much. It felt Russo-riffic and ruined what had been a good buildup (and match) with Taker. I could make a three-disc DVD of Orton's shitty work. And it's been like 5 years. Actually, it's been about 2 1/2 considering his time on the disabled list.
  23. Batista was over big-time with fans even when pushed as a heel. Because he has natural charisma. Comparing Orton's tired, shitty, attempts at promos to what Batista can do with a simple look, not to mention his angry faces when talking, his sensical promos, or stylish demeanor, makes you look silly. Do tell me, what exact Orton's "character" do you find interesting? The fact that despite being 220 lbs soaking wet, he thinks he's destined to defeat all the legends? The fact that he says the same promo over and over again for every feud? The fact that he stumbles over most of his live promos? He has a dropkick, a 3.0, a neckbreaker, and a one-armed sloppy Diamond Cutter. He really doesn't look like a pro wrestler, and because of this he needs to bring something interesting to the table to garner fan heat. He does not do this. However, I do have several favorite Orton moments. Please READ them before replying. 1) Orton comes to Raw as a green rookie. Pins Lance Storm and Christian, two guys who went over HULK HOGAN on PPV just months earlier, in back to back matches in like 5 minutes. Fucks up his finisher in his debut. 2) Proceeds to get injured that week. 3) Orton comes to Raw as a heel aligned with Triple H in the new super group Evolution. 4) Proceeds to get injured in 2 weeks. 5) Despite having absolutely no credibility whatsoever and no big or memorable matches under his belt, MAKES HIS PAY-PER-VIEW DEBUT IN THE MAIN EVENT OF SUMMERSLAM FOR THE WORLD TITLE. Shall I continue with why he is hated? Read #5 again. Ok. 6) Looks like shit and is carried by Shawn Michaels to an OK PPV match. And *goes over*. 7) During the build for the Steve Austin Vs. Eric Bischoff 5-on-5 team Survivor Series match, we have the following people involved: Jericho & Christian - Austin-haters from the beginning. RVD - defending Austin, hates Y2J and Christian Dudley Boyz - hate Bischoff, like Austin's "no BS" style Mark Henry - siding with Bischoff, openly hates Austin Scott Steiner - attacked by Austin Booker T - hates Christian, no fan of Bischoff Shawn Michaels - former Austin partner and almost retired against Steve, history brought up to bring him as a leader, Austin practically begs him And who do we get to fill out the match? A guy who does pretty much JACK SHIT in the bout, who has NOTHING TO DO with Austin or Bischoff, and winds up being the SOLE SURVIVOR of the whole thing... Randy Orton. Jesus Christ himself wasn't booked stronger on Easter. But let's continue... Then Orton goes over RVD for the IC Title. Whatever, always thought the title made more sense on heels anyway. Whole PPV sucked, not gonna argue. _________ Then we get Orton made to look unstoppable against the likes of RVD, Booker T, and Chris Jericho in Raw matches. The crowd was BEGGING them to take the title off Orton. Because Randy was a great heel who generated negativity and made his opponents look good? No. Because Orton's promos were repetitve, his matches were the same, he blew moves, and people were sick of having him ran down their throats.
  24. It's ironic that Orton talks so much shit on females. Because I liken him to a sloppy women's wrestler (generic mic skills, sloppy and slow execution) trapped in a boy's body.
  25. They didn't badmouth RVD because he was man enough to respect a WWE star to give him a title shot.
