Just ordered tickets for a tiebreaker tomorrow. Hope I don't have to use them. Would be wild tomorrow though.

I think it is simple as always against the Giants. Get to Eli and they win, don't get to Eli and they pick apart the banged up secondary. Oh, and the second key is to shoot Westbrook up with enough Cortisone that he can go tomorrow. Then he can stay home for the next two weeks and sleep until the next game for all I care.

Even if Rutgers pulls it out, they need to drop in the standings. With their ahem preseason schedule followed by this outing (win or lose), I don't see how they could be ahead of USF to name one team off the top of my head.

Most important game in 14 years and it is Adam Eaton on the mound. Ugh.

Sorry if it sounds like I am beating this to death, but here is my problem already with this crap Charging to the head = 20 games Elbow to the head = a fine And the idea of penalizing the result is ridiculous. Are they going to suspend people for clean hits that result in concussions? If someone has a concussion history like McAmmond that results in more serious concussions, do you gets penalized more for hitting him as opposed to hitting someone with no history of them? All of this grey area in the hands of an awful NHL administration is absurd.
-
So what is the proper proportion for suspension for a hit happening in a preseason game compared to regular season or post season? 2 to 1, 3 to 1? When you have players playing for a job, it is the real season to them. If you don't want your players out there for it bench them. Otherwise, be aware. More from Campbell: Again, he is basically saying that if you see a player in advance of the hit and the player doesn't see you; don't hit him. And no hitting someone if you've been hit. I mean come on now, just outlaw hitting and be done with it.

I think 5-8 would be acceptable. Wouldn't be thrilled with it, but wouldn't argue it. To jump from 1-2 to 20 is ridiculous. And I severely doubt they hold to this precedent either.

I'm sorry, but that is horseshit. That is as many games as Bertuzzi got for breaking Steve Moore's neck. McSorley and Simon, guys with no less "history" than Downie, got 23 and 25 respectively for full baseball bat swings at someone's head. The next time Colby Armstrong or Chris Neil cheap shots someone, there better be a similar penalty. points in order: - keep your head up - apparently no hitting someone unless you give an Indian whooping from Slap Shot - do not look at the player you are going to hit - and only hit someone accidently Hockey is a violent sport. Again, Downie should be suspended. The usual couple of games for a hit like that, the rest is bullshit caving to media pressure because a rookie with a past hit a guy coming off concussion issues. Boo hoo, we went through that with Lindros. If this is going to be an issue, put McAammond in a pink jersey so people know not to hit him.

No doubt, this team (and manager) certainly gets credit no matter what happens. Lord knows I counted them out about 20 different times this year. I've been amused by Burrell running around like a 7 year old being told they are going to Pizza Hut for winning the last couple of weeks.

My currently updated keepers. Looks like I'll be out of the draft a couple weeks early next season. Vladdy - Round 1 Lance Berkman - Round 3 Francisco Liriano - Round 17 Joba Chamberlain - FA, round 18 Yovani Gallardo - FA, round 19 Josh Fields - FA then acquired in trade, Round 20

As great as this is to see, I can't believe I am actually seeing a Philly fan looking like he is counting his chickens. Man, UTSU haven't you learned by now to be excited but wait til the last out of the last game before crowing. Question for al: Phillies, if they win the division, worst division winning pitching staff (inc. bullpen) ever?
-
No, but Downie will be when he comes back to Ottawa. What the hell goes through a man's head when he makes a hit like that in the preseason?? A.) trying to prove his worth to stay on the team and B.) It is Steve Downie we are talking about here. But I think some of the reaction around various boards is ridiculous. Yes it was not a clean hit, he definitely charged him (but the momentum of him flying after that his makes it look worse than it really was). He'll get a couple games which I won't argue, but you see people crying for a Chris Simon like penalty. Get the hell out of here with that, you can go back to last season and probably find 10 hits that would qualify if that is what the punishment is worth. Plus, how much of the reaction is due to the fact it was McAmmon who is dealing with concussion issues, if he levels Joe Schmoe do people care above saying anything more than it was dirty, give him a game and move on.

At least Bucknor looks consistent. Of course that means this game is going to take 7 hours.
-
You get the feeling if this is going to be the strike zone, they need to get Moyer out immediately. Save him and let him make the start tomorrow with a new ump.

My problem with his line of thought is two fold: a.) does he think this is going to help his case at all and b.) Philly boos their QBs with a quick trigger when they don't perform. That's it, that's the fact. Philly loves Jaworski now, but when he played he got booed almost out of town. Gritty, undertalented, white guy: booed Smoother, ultratalented (thanks Mike Goldberg), black guy: booed And right now he barely passes as a top 15 quarterback. He is indecisive, inaccurate, and not mobile enough to really make plays to cover for it. Yes, he is coming back from injury. But he constantly is coming back from injury and this is not the way to convice the FO to keep him around past this season.
-
If they were playing in Buffalo I would agree and probably avoid taking NE this week. But being in NE, I think they avoid that and stomp the Bills.
-
The worst part is, now I am so pissed I need to burn off steam before I can get to sleep. If only the Flyers preseason game with Jesse Boulerice beating the shit out of Cam Janssen twice had been on instead of this abortion.
-
Retarded playcalling (w/ rusty QB they go 20 runs (includes 2 McNabb scrambles)/46 passes) + McNabb sucking hardcore for 7 of 8 quarters this year (plus the next to last play tonight, Curtis was wide open, ugh) + throw in a pinch of mediocre Oline play for flavor = offensive ineptitude
-
I don't care if they know it is coming, get the ball in your best player's hands in crunch time.
-
I am so tired of Jaws beating the whole lack of seperation thing to death. Yes, the WRs are having a bad game, but McNabb has been abysmal as well. And an elite QB should be able to put a ball in a small space. No free passes on this offense, except obviously Westbrook. Honestly, right now, I have a hard time seeing how this team beats Detroit next week. They won't get up and down the field with anyone right now. And the defense can only hold for so long before they finally have to crack due to no offensive support.
-
McNabb is playing like trash, so to compensate you put the ball in Westbrook's hands a whopping nine times in the first half. Brilliant strategery.
-
The WR was still open if the ball was out on time. I'd still go after him. Only the Eagles could have a RB averaging 10 YPC and avoid giving him the ball as much as possible.
-
Apparently McNabb is trying to get Reggie Brown killed out there tonight. And the Redskins should be throwing to Moss at Will James every single play until they stop it.
-
Kansas City managed 10 (one sustained TD drive and a short field FG drive.) You know Rex will give them a short field at least once, so throw that out as a factor since it will even out. And Dallas has been scoring at will. I don't really think it unlikely that they can put up a TD above KCs performance.
