  1. Since this is a related topic and I really don't want to start a new thread...is there any place online where I can something written up on the history, rise, and fall of ECW?
  2. I'm actually surprised they haven't written someone like Funaki to win matches with the small package, and start making "small package" jokes over and over. But I'm sick of the rollup and the WWE should get finishers over instead of rollups.
  3. "Hey Lawler, suck my cock!" -- Taz(z) at ECW Wrestlepalooza '97 "It still says marquee on the wrestling!" -- Arn Anderson "I've been World Champion more times than you've had pieces of ass!" -- Ric Flair to Syxx "The Rock just put Billy Gunn's face in that large woman's ass!" -- Jim Ross at Summerslam '99 Michael Cole: "I can't see, I've got a big cowboy hat in my face" Jim Ross: "You're gonna have a big cowboy boot in your ass in a minute" -- On a RAW in 1999.
  4. Jack Evans won the scramble cage melee match. And that's the show.
  5. I can already hear Michael Cole saying sarcastically "yeah, this guy thinks he's SOOOOOOOOO cool."
  6. The WWE uses the rollup as a finish in its matches WAAAAAAAY too much. They LOVE to have heels win with the rollup instead of a finisher. Maybe they think the marks look at it as "well, the good guy lost, but the bad guy got lucky" whereas if the heel wins with his finisher it makes the face look bad or something? I don't really like it. Sure, a rollup can be the perfect finisher some times, (HHH vs. Shelton Benjamin comes to mind) but not ALL the time. I think a big part of establishing a character marks care about is giving them a recognizable finisher. But the "rollup using the tights or feet on the ropes" thing is just done way too much, IMO. Am I the only one who thinks this, or do you think it's not that big of a deal?
  7. Homicide pinned Samoa Joe in the three way with CM Punk. Punk hit the Pepsi Plunge on Joe, but Cide gave Punk a lariat and stole the pinfall on Joe. This is the last time Joe and Homicide can face each other in a match until 2005, however.
  8. Pitbulls beat Special K to retain the tag straps. John Walters beat Doug Williams to win the pure title - that's a big surprise, to me at least.
  9. Ace Steel beat Roderick Strong via submission Austin Aries beat Colt Cabana via submission
  10. Rave over AngelDust with the "Rave Clash". Pretty cool about Liger coming in.
  11. Ring of Honor announced tonight at their event in Braintree, MA that the promotion will be bringing in New Japan Pro Wrestling's Jushin "Thunder" Liger for matches on Friday 11/5 in Braintree, MA at the National Guard Armory and Saturday 11/6 at the Rexplex in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The two events will be titled "A Weekend of Thunder." Liger, a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team champion, is considered one of the greatest Junior Heavyweight wrestlers in the history of professional wrestling. A New Japan Pro Wrestling stalwart, Liger is among the most innovative and popular stars in Japanese wrestling history. American fans got their first taste of Liger's work during a legendary feud against the late Brian Pillman over WCW Lightheavyweight championship which culminated in a tremendous match at WCW Superbrawl II in February 1992. Although Liger has made sporadic appearances in the United States during WCW's run in the late 1990s, this will be Liger's first mainland wrestling appearance in several years and the first where he'll be allowed to work to the best of his ability. For ticket information on the 11/5 event in Braintree, MA and 11/6 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, visit www.ROHWrestling.com. Credit: PWInsider.com
  12. First update... Mark Briscoe was in a motorcycle accident, so the Briscoes aren't there. The Pitbulls will now take on Izzy and Dixie of Special K. In the first match, Alex Shelley pinned Jay Lethal with a rollup.
  13. No, it's not going to be Gunn. Meltzer said it would be Dusty uinder a mask, so we'll see if he's right. I don't have any problem with 3LK. Sure, they probably don't put asses in the seats, but who really does, you know?
  14. And they don't want him to do his dance anymore because it gets a pop. (So stupid) So he's more boring then ever.
  15. I had no idea the crowd was so hot for Velocity matches. Push Johnny the Bull to the top, NOW~!
  16. I haven't watched Velocity in a while, but man have I missed the added in crowd heat to the matches. One of the Bashams hiptosses Nunzio, and the crowd goes "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" like they just saw some huge spot.
  17. The Stephanie promo before No Mercy 2003. Though that made me want to throw up more than laugh...

  19. I'm a whore, so I'm bumping my own review.
  20. Since I'm a whore, I guess I'll bump my review.
  21. Where did you hear that? I don't ever remember reading that, though it sounds true enough.
  22. That is fine. But thats not what JoeDirt said. How is it different? Noble is pissed, so he beats down Kidman in revenge. He believes he's in the right, which is when heelish behavior is the best. Kidman believes he's in the right, since it was just an accident. It's not a worked shoot...it's just taking advantage of a real situation and making it into a story, which has been done a gazillion times before. Why would Kidman say its an accident? The point of any move in wrestling is to hurt him as most as humaliy possible to win a match. Anytime when a guy says "I didnt mean to hurt him" IMMEDIATLY implies wrestling is fake...BUT THIS IS REAL. Not good. Because the shooting star press is done to PIN someone, not knock them unconscious. Kidman could say he was just trying to get the pinfall, but accidentally his knee caught Chavo in the head. Noble would argue it was on purpose, and then try and get revenge.
  23. Sleepers REALLY don't work well...guys usually make a big comeback right after being put in them!
  24. Good stuff. I think a problem is the fact that Angle isn't Vince's prototypical "main event hoss" that he loves so much...a guy like HHH or Lesnar or even a guy like Rock. Angle, therefore, really had to work hard to turn himself from the bumbling idiot to a serious guy who can snap your ankle and is a force to be reckoned with. I don't really know what to say. I guess at this point in his career Kurt knows how to play the backstage games, and wants to play them enough to ensure he stays at the top for however many matches he has left.
  25. Eddie Kingston promo The ShareCropper beat Darkness Crabtree Mano Metalico beat Sabian Blackjack Marciano beat Trik Davis Dark Breed (Hallowicked/Ultramantis Black) beat Team F.I.S.T.
