This thread will be devoted to posting some old school matches for you guys to hopefully download, and then discuss your thoughts, memories, reactions, etc to the matches. A feud recap going into the match by somebody would be cool too. Our first match is from 8/28/86 as Hulk Hogan defends the WWF title against Paul Orndorff. http://s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0OMUAMM...8Z1M59599QZK92K Or: http://s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3BDPL2R...YO0TAYFPWPSAKWG Enjoy.

He's a regular in FIP, a Florida fed that Gabe Sapolsky of ROH books. I believe he does NWA-Florida too, though I could be wrong. He also has been in CZW recently, and did one or two JAPW shows.
-
Yeah, he was. He'd have to totally change his style in the WWE, unless he played a power type guy in the CW division.

Got this email response from Meltzer on the whole Luger/Wrestlemania 10 stuff: "The whole story of Luger getting drunk is a myth. The actual story is that the day before the show, several WWE wrestlers were at Morton's Steak house and talked about how Bret was going to lose to Owen, but win later, and that one of hte NY papers the next day in the gossip section reported it. WWE didn't change its plans even though it was in the paper. Somehow that story got changed to Luger said he was winning, it made the papers, and WWE changed plans. I was told I'm thinking 3-5 weeks in advance that Luger wasn't winning because of the reaction at the Rumble. I was never told Bret was winning, but it was pretty clear that was the idea."

Downloaded this a while back, and since he was on Smackdown this week why not post it here? I hope the download works for you guys, and you'd better get it fast before it goes and I have to repost. http://s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3M51ACO...JY1XS5WWKNDNKHB

Shawn Daivari has received a threatening note from someone via his personal message board. The message was submitted to the Raw superstar last week, with the person identifying themselves as only “Sand N-gger Hater” The following is part of the full message which was posted: “Hey, Davari (sic) you and Hassan are going to be sorry you sand n-gger piles of sh–. After what I saw on TV last weeekend, I have made a decision that if you and Hassan come anywhere within 300 miles of where I am you stupid assclowns who s— off f–ing camels and wants seconds, I will be more then (sic) glad to empty three full clips from my 9MM glock into your punk ass. If you and Hassan don’t like the USA then do us Americans all a f–ing favor and leave the USA muthaf—er before someone sends you home to the Middle East in a f—ing casket you stupid son of a f—ing bitch. How dare you talk sh– about the American soldier you stupid f–… So please come within 300 miles so I can buy front row ringside tix for me and my 15 friends and then when you and Hassan come to the ring talking sh–, security won’t be able to stop us and we are going to take your candy asses out for good and so what if we go to jail.” The person who submitted the message said he has a cousin who is stationed in Afganistan as part of the Special Forces Unit. Daivari responded with the following: “You have to wait till we get within 300 miles of you before you hop the rail and kick our asses?! Any real American patriot would be willing to drive at least 302 miles.” In an earlier post, Daivari wrote: “I don’t feel like I’m playing a character mostly cause I’m not. Not one scenario played out on TV yet has been 100 percent fabricated. Sh– like that happens to me semi-often, especially worse now that I’ve made my case public.” Credit: PWTorch newsletter

Did Goldberg ever lose any house show matches before they started "the streak" with him?
-
That is disgustingly bad. At least you had the battle of Too Much/Too Cool in the opener.
-
I remember at Royal Rumble 1994, Gorilla Monsoon and JR were doing radio coverage...what was up with that?
-
No, not really. He said that he thinks the WWE might put the title on Cena at Wrestlemania if Rock doesn't do the match, or right afterwards if Rock does do the match. Other than that, not much was said.
-
Meltzer says he still thinks Angle/Taker will happen, but not for the belt. He said tonight he still hasn't heard anything to make him believe they'll do Angle vs. HBK.
-
Meltzer says the company wants JBL vs. Rock for the WWE title at Wrestlemania 21. I don't really get that, but I guess they're just looking to draw.
-
On WOL, Meltzer said they should have had MNM debut (Joey Matthews, Johnny Nitro, Melina) and win the tag titles to get them off to a hot start. Oh well.

1/16 RAW BRAND RESULT FROM WINNIPEG: TAG TITLES CHANGE ON HOUSE SHOW by Jordan Nepon @ 6:17:00 PM on 1/16/2005 Here are results from the Winnipeg show. I think I've got everything. Christy Hemme came out to welcome us, and said how much she loved being in Winnipeg. Which is a blatant lie unless you love freezing weather and love tons of snow. Simon Dean came out, called her fat, offered her his Simon powder which she threw back in his face. 1) Christian and Tomko beat Hurricane and Rosey. Rose was holding Hurricane, and Tomko hit a bit boot to get Christian on top. 2) Victoria beat Molly with the Widows Peak. Crowd wasn’t too interested. 3) Shelton Benjamin beat Maven with the Exploder. ‘Just there’, but not too bad. 4) Kane beat Snitsky in a hardcore match. Big pop for Kane. They used a trash can, trash can lids and a hockey stick. Good for what it was. 5) Chris Benoit beat Edge via Crippler Crossface. Match was 11 minutes. I was a bit underwhelmed, but it was still good. The T-shirt guy threw out some shirts, then we had a 15 minute intermission. 6) La Resistance beat William Regal and the Coach to become NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS. Coach came out and announced himself the ring announcer. La Res came out followed by Regal, alone. Coach said Regal had to defend the titles, but not in a handicap match, and Coach named himself as Eugene's replacement. Regal wrestled alone regardless, he went for a tag mid-match but changed his mind. For the end, Regal nailed Coach instead of tagging him, then La Res hit their tag finisher (sorry, forget the name) on Regal to win the belts. Post-match, Coach insulted Regal and followed up with a low blow. Regal came back with some knees then tossed Coach out of the ring. 7) Chris Jericho made Muhammed Hassan tap out to the Walls of Jericho in a Royal Rumble entrance match. Jericho was way over, as usual in his hometown. Hassan badmouthed Winnipeg before Jericho cut him off, and said he’s give Hassan a Y2J beating he’d never, evvvvver, forget. Daivari kept interfering, but finally backfired for the Jericho win. After the match, Jericho said how much he loved performing for his hometown, and said “even though it’s –40 C outside, it’s hot in here”- and the temperature with the windchill is completely legit, even colder a few days ago. 8) HBK and Randy Orton beat Ric Flair and Batista when HBK hit the Sweet Chin Music on Flair. Nice pops for Flair and Orton, and HBK wasn’t booed out of the building for what it’s worth. Good main event, similar to the usual Raw tags. We got a *really* full moon from Flair, a visual I probably won’t forget, as much as I want to. Randy teased an RKO, but we never got one. Orton and HBK shook hands with the front row after the match. It was a pretty good show, Not mind blowing but I had fun. I wish we had the scheduled HBK vs. Flair singles match, though.

1/16/2005 6:02:00 PM WWE does house show title change, Michaels heavily booed, Flair goes off and fans booing opponent on strange show in Winnipeg by Mike McIntyre A few noteworthy things at today's show. First, they did an actual title switch. La resistance won the tag belts from regal, who was forced to have coach as his partner but never did tag him in. Also, jericho went over hussan before his hot hometown crowd (is that hussans first loss?) in a "royal rumble qualifying match". Also, the much advertised and hyped michaels vs flair singles match never happened. Instead, it was michaels and orton vs flair and batista. Neither michaels nor flair looked hurt, both worked a lot, not sure why the change. Before match, michaels got booed a bit, then lots of "u screwed bret" chants, which prompted flair to grab mic and shoot on the crowd, saying shawn is "greatest performer I've ever been in ring with" and that wpgers and canadians just can't give it up, and they better, cuz "wwe will stop coming here". He was legit mad. But whatta dumb thing to say. Also called bret " a rick flair wannabee, never will be", and so on. Btw, michaels pinned flair for his teams win. Anyways, other results: Benoit b edge (easily best match, edge is really strong) Shelton b maven Kane b snitsky in hardcore match Christian and tomko b hurricane and rosey Victoria b molly CREDIT: Wrestlingobserver.com

OaO Thread: LucharesuFan619's Random Match Reviews
JoeDirt replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
Excellent reviews. I had no idea Styles wrestled Teddy in Hawaii. -
For a small indy show, the recent Chikara show with the hour and fifteen minute Torneo Cibernetica match had a crowd that was just dead silent the entire time. Eerie.
-
You're already 1 for 5. The first one died last year before WrestleMania. Really? How did I miss that? Okay, new picks: Roma Shiek Luger Savage Brutus Beefcake
-
Thanks for the review, you should post it at the IWA boards.

IWA Mid-South, in association with NWA Midwest, returned to the Lincoln Center in Highland, IN on Saturday night, January 15th. Here's what went down... 1. "The Iron Saints" VITO & SAL THOMASELLI def. "Underwear Model" ERIC PRIEST & SILAS YOUNG with a double team maneuver where Young was held in the pendulum and hit with a double stop to the back of the head off the top rope. "The King of Diamonds" EDDIE KINGSTON interrupted some announcements by DAVE PRAZAK, and informed the fans that his partner BLACK JACK MARCIANO is on the shelf with a leg injury for the next several months and would not be able to defend the IWA World Tag Team Titles in the cage later in the night. Kingston asked that he be permitted to substitute a third man into the championship team to defend the titles. Prazak agreed to it, but only if BRAD BRADLEY & RYAN BOZ had the option of substituting a third man into the match on their team if they so choose (for instance, if they wanted to surprise Kingston's team by making the match against Bradley and NEW JACK, they'd have the ability to throw him into the match as a substitute). Kingston then introduced his new manager JIM FANNIN, who brought "Metalhead" STEVE STONE out with him and announced that Stone would be Kingston's partner in the cage. 2. "The Human Rulebook" CHANDLER McCLURE def. DYSFUNCTION & BRAD MARTIN when McClure hit the Touchdown on Dysfunction for the victory. McClure had JIM FANNIN in his corner, as he attempts to prove himself to Fannin and earn a spot in the Family. 3. PETEY WILLIAMS def. CHAD COLLYER via submission with the Sharpshooter. Williams attempted several times to hit the Canadian Destroyer, but was unsuccessful. Collyer was able to lock in the Collyer Cloverleaf but couldn't keep it on Williams. Petey focused on Collyer's leg in the final moments of the match, setting him up for the Sharpshooter. 4. GOLDEN VAMPIRE XIII def. "Sweet & Sour" LARRY SWEENEY in Sweeney's Open Challenge match. Vampire accepted Sweeney's challenge and was unmasked roughly five minutes into the bout as "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" TRACY SMOTHERS! The Lincoln Center fans chanted "thirteen" in support of the Vampire, while a portion also got heavily behind Sweeney. 5. TRIK DAVIS def. CHRIS HERO with an inside cradle rolled out of a delayed vertical suplex attempt by Hero. The two chain wrestled in the early going of the match, until Hero grew frustrated that Davis was able to go hold for hold with him. Hero soon began to throw some hard strikes. The determination of Davis kept him going through the beating until he was able to roll Hero into an inside cradle for the pinfall. 6. BRAD BRADLEY & RYAN BOZ & TRIK DAVIS def. "King of Diamonds" EDDIE KINGSTON & "Metalhead" STEVE STONE in a Steel Cage Match to win the IWA World Tag Team Titles. Bradley and Boz made their way to the ring first, and Bradley was immediately jumped by Kingston and Stone on the floor before entering the cage, going to work on Bradley's arm. Once all four men were inside the cage, Fannin's team focused on the arm of Bradley, repeatedly driving it into the cage. Both Kingston and Boz were busted open from shots into the steel. Jim Fannin at ringside was able to undo the chain on the cage door to open it, and slammed the door on Bradley's arm twice. Several referees and security guards checked on Bradley's condition and rushed him out of the cage and back to the locker room, as the cage door was closed once again, leaving Boz to go it alone against Kingston and Stone. He did his best to fight off both men himself, but wound up on the receiving end of the beating. TRIK DAVIS soon left the commentary table and decided that if Bradley was out of the match due to injury, he would substitute himself as Boz's partner, and climbed to the top of the cage, diving on both Kingston and Stone. Trik fired up on both of his opponents before hitting a double stop off Boz's shoulders on Stone, setting up for Boz to score the pinfall and win the titles. Bradley, with his shoulder and arm bandaged up, made his way back to ringside, and celebrated in the cage with his partners as Fannin, Kingston, and Stone threw a fit on the ringside floor. 7. MsCHIF def. MICKIE KNUCKLES in a Submission Match with a modified version of the pendulum, with a chinlock applied rather than grabbing hold of the arms. Mickie tried to get a submission several times with the Muta Lock, while MsChif used a variety of holds all focusing on Mickie's back. Eventually her back took such a beating that she couldn't hold the bridge necessary to keep MsChif in the Muta Lock. MsChif soon hit the Desecrator, before locking Mickie in the modified pendulum for the win. 8. BRANDON THOMASELLI def. JOSH ABERCROMBIE with an Air Raid Crash off the second rope. This was a hard fought match by both men, which saw Brandon hit a corkscrew plancha to the floor, as well as his 450 splash during the course of the match. Abercrombie caught Thomaselli in the cobra clutch on several occasions, wearing him down while also mixing in some of his own high flying maneuvers. As Abercrombie was going up top to attempt the Phoenix Splash, Thomaselli stopped him on the turnbuckles and maneuvered him into position for the Air Raid Crash and the victory. Brandon's brothers VITO & SAL THOMASELLI came out to help him celebrate the victory, only to attack him, giving Brandon the double team pendulum/double stomp to the head off the top rope. Vito grabbed the mic and told Brandon that he made the wrong decision in choosing IWA Mid-South over NWA Wildside, and challenged him to find a partner for 2/12 in Highland and face them in a tag match. A groggy Brandon accepted the challenge. 9. JIMMY JACOBS def. "Double C" CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI with the Contra Code. Jacobs gave Claudio a nasty looking rana off the ring apron to the floor, driving Castagnoli to the floor head-first. Claudio got Jacobs in Swiss Sleeper Holding during the match, but was unable to put him away with the maneuver. He also delivered a devastating European uppercut after launching Jacobs into the air and connecting with the uppercut on Jacobs' way down. 10. CHRIS CANDIDO def. DANNY DANIELS via disqualification to retain the NWA Midwest Heavyweight Championship. Candido was accompanied to the ring by his manager JIM FANNIN. Daniels and Candido went back and forth for the first ten minutes of a mainly technical wrestling based match. During the closing moments, "Metalhead" STEVE STONE made his way to ringside, attempting to assist Candido in getting the victory, and taking turns with Fannin distracting referee TOMMY THOMPSON while tossing Candido a chain as well as the title belt. Ulimately Daniels gained possession of the chain and swung at Candido, inadvertenly striking Thompson and laying him out. Daniels was eventually able to hit the piledriver on Candido, and made the cover as second referee BRYCE REMSBURG hit the ring to count the fall and raise Daniels' hand as new champion. Thomson made his way back to his feet and reversed the decision, disqualifying Daniels for hitting him with the chain. 11. CORPORAL ROBINSON & NEW JACK def. JC BAILEY & 2 TUFF TONY in an Anything Goes impromptu tag team match after Jack came off the top rope with a chair on Tony. The match was originally scheduled to be Robinson vs. New Jack, but during Corp's pre-match mic work, Bailey and Tony hit the ring area and attacked Robinson, double teaming him with a chair. New Jack's music then kicked in and he came to Corp's aid. The four agreed to turn the bout into a Texas Tornado style tag team match. Several weapons, including a chained sickle and staple gun were used during the bout, which went all over the Lincoln Center and saw all four men busted open. Robinson hit the Boot Camp on Bailey before Jack came crashing down off the top with a chair to earn his team the victory. NOTES: The event was filmed by Smart Mark Video for home video release, with commentary by Dave Prazak, Danny Daniels, Chris Hero, Eddie Kingston, Trik Davis, and Tracy Smothers... The live crowd was given updates about the IWA-MS wrestlers competing elsewhere during the show. IAN ROTTEN won the SCCW death match tournament out in California, while ARIEL won the NWA Midwest/IWA Mid-South Women's Title on a NECW show in Framingham, MA, defeating MERCEDES MARTINEZ and HAYLEY SKYE in a three-way match. It was announced that IWA-MS management will bring ARIEL out as soon as possible to defend her newly won title... It was announced that SARA DEL RAY and "Cheerleader" MELISSA ANDERSON will make their IWA-MS debuts on the 2/11 & 2/12 double shot weekend... Thanks to Richard Seale for the following: Well, just got back from the house show in Kitchener, Ontario and it was quite the disappointment. Most of the upper red seats were empty and the crowd was not really into the card for most of the night. There was a shuffle in the schedule, but that was probably meant to make up for the injury to RVD. Anyway, the results were: John Cena over Kurt Angle. Cena challenged Angle because Angle was upset that Cena had modified the US title. Huge pop for Cena and a "You Suck" chant for angle. While this match would normally be a must-see, too many rest holds ruined the match for me. Theodore Long came out and thanked everybody for coming. He announced the card and it was quite different from the advertised one. In a Royal Rumble qualifying match, Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak defeated Nunzio and Scotty Too Hotty. Cruisers got some action in doing the "embarrass the monster" routine, but in the end, Jindrak and Reigns won with their power. Didn't see Jindrak in the match too often. Reigns had a lot of heat with the ringside fans. Kenzo Suzuki with Hiroko defeated Charlie Haas. While there was no reaction to either athlete, Charlie Haas was very athletic and showed himself to be one of the most underrated wrestlers on Smackdown. Kenzo won after Charlie had his head snake-eyed into an exposed turnbuckle. Paul London beat Rene Dupree The best match of the night even though it was surprising to see London go over Dupree. Dupree got mild heat for being French in Ontario. Each athlete deserves a push. The most comedic moment of the night was the referee strutting. London won with his flip off the ropes. Bashams over Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio Long wait for the match to get started as the Bashams argued with the crowd. When the match was finally ready to begin, Eddie and Rey grabbed the belts and walked to the back. When the match finally started, it was a basic match with Eddie getting pinned despite hitting the frogsplash. There was no referee because he was busy with Rey and the other Basham. When Eddie got Rey to leave the ring, he turned around and was greeted by a sit-down powerbomb and got pinned. After the match, Eddie got upset and walked away angry, leaving Rey upset that Eddie was mad at him. Eddie refused to shake his hand before leaving and shrugged Rey's help off. Eddie also tried a comedy routine in moving the tag rope when the referee tried to make him hold onto it. After the intermission, the hot body contest occurred between Dawn Marie and Miss Jackie. Jackie is hot. Basic stuff. They disrobed. They shook their asses. Crowd voted Jackie the winner and Dawn complained. It looked like they were going to wrestle, but they were interrupted by Heidenreich who complained that the audience hurt his feelings by cheering the divas. Heidenreich over Hardcore Holly For a guy that gave the Undertaker a run for his money, Heidenreich was put over as very weak in this match. When Holly wasn't chopping him, Heidenreich had Holly in a bearhug for most of the match. Stiff clothesline won the match for Heidenreich. There was next to no reaction from the crowd. Funaki defeated Chavo and Spike The two faces worked over Spike for a while. With Funaki out of the ring, Chavo knocked Spike out of the match. Some of the fans complained that Spike was the best man in the match. After some back and forth, Funaki won with a reversal. Big Show beats JBL by DQ JBL got huge heat for insulting Canada, calling the soldiers wimps and claiming that the Americans had to protect Canada. When the Big Show arrived, the fans went crazy wanting him to shut JBL up. Show got some offence in before JBL took out the knee. Match saw lots of interference by Orlando Jordan with fans outraged. When Show was about to finish JBL off, the Bashams ran in and got JBL disqualified. Show got mad and took out the Bashams and Orlando while JBL ran away. Again, show was disappointing with many boring matches and a card that looked very thrown together. Man, I wish that it would have been a Raw card like originally scheduled. Oh well, the next Kitchener event can only be better. Biggest Pops: Big Show (to shut JBL up) John Cena Eddie Guerrero Miss Jackie Rey Mysterio Biggest Heat: JBL (Anti-Canada rant) Kurt Angle Reigns/Jindrak Rene Dupree
