Nintendo's pricing is ridiculous. 250 for old hardware and 10 for downloading a N64 game? Give me a break. They're always doing this, going for maximum profit.
  2. Yeah that was weird. I always wanted to play it but the video store didn't have it and I wasn't about to pay full price for Time Killers. I finally found it in a bargin bin a few years ago. It sucks. It's a weak port.

    Wii

    Too expensive.
  4. This is the first season I've watched. Have they ever done something like that before with bringing people back? Seemed very random. I figured both would be gone again immediatly. Kayne's days had been numbered for a while now.

    PS2 Games.

production values + decent gameplay = good.

I liked Beyond Good & Evil but it's not that great. The best things about it are it's positive female main character and good production values. The actual gameplay isn't anything special, the stealth action is especially bland. The story is what disappointed me. You can tell it was supposed to be this deep plot that made you think but it was actually very basic. Despite the title the story was the generic evil corporation stuff.
  7. I am rooting for Michael. I'll miss Vincent just because of his antics. Same with Angela. I want Jeffrey out just because of his attitude.

Yes, get Tekken 5. Even if you don't like fighting games just buy it anyway.
  9. That's like saying Time Killers is the best Strata fighting game.
  10. Smackdown games are not "arcadey". Arcade games haven't been overly simple for like over a decade. Even old games like Wrestlefest and Slam Masters weren't that simple. Calling Smackdown "arcadey" is a nice way of putting it. The truth is they're just shitty.
  11. Playing through Super Castlevania IV the past two days reminded me of why I don't like old school gaming much. The first half was so good then the rest is full of cheap deaths like bottomless pits. Ok fine but then you have to start the whole level again? The phasing out of that archiac game design at the end of the SNES era and through the PSX is the best thing to ever happen to games.
  12. They assassinated Metroid guy. I'm sorry Andrew.
  13. I was thinking of jumping ship into the MS camp but I'm too angry about the broken systems. I am on track to go through like 10 of them by 2009. I just can't let that slide. I put up with it with PSX and PS2 because they were so good. Other than that I like MS but I'll have to continue to support Sony and just hope they get their act together. Come on Sony you can do it! Maybe they're being dumb to give everyone else a chance unlike last time. You know, to make things interesting. That is probably it. Whatever happens I can't accept Wii being a success. If Nintendo regains their title of our gaming overlords I will quit console gaming and go 100% arcade!
  14. This game was the best thing about school back then. A new Oregon Trial that played like KOTOR with the conversation trees and stuff would be incredible!
  15. It's both Kabal and Stryker. I've always wondered why Rain was in such a high position in the movie. Rain? How random. Why wasn't Motaro his right hand horse man?
  16. It's fun! I've always thought that, years before it was ok to admit that on the internet. It's not even really "unintentially funny" either. Those favorite lines didn't just magically write themselves and Raul Julia was surely aware he was acting way over the top. The movie is silly on purpose, it's got some legitmately funny parts. Bison changing into a smoking jacket version of his uniform with the goofy portriats of him on a horse and as a clown, Dee Jay wishing he had stayed at Microsoft, E. Honda no selling the whips, Sagat talking about how he owns the town and can do whatever he wants then you hear the warning about curfew over the intercom, and Bison's speech about wanting to face Guile with honor in hand to hand combat.....then snap his neck. I never cared much about the story differences. The game doesn't have much of a story at all in the first place. So much of the SF story was all retcon from years after that movie came out anyway. Mortal Kombat changed a bunch of the story and nobody cared. SF movie's story does a decent enough job of explaining why all the characters were there. Better than how MK Annihilation did it where they just threw in random characters for 5 minutes just to have them there. Edit: and the way Bison's floating platform of doom is driven by the control panel for Super SF II arcade is such a cool nod to the games. If Capcom ever gets around to actually making a new game they should do an intro for Bison where he comes out floating on that thing.
  17. Nintendo killed the Metroid guy! Maybe "in space...." is different for video games. What other one is there? Dino Crisis 3 which is Resident Evil with dinosoars....in space. So it was too convoluted and silly to begin with. Zelda in space can be next.
  18. I would pay that much for a PS3. I will sometime in the near future. At least as soon as Tekken 6 comes out. Sony would easily sell the initial few million for that much. This year and much of next year they'll sell as many as they can get into stores. The price will only be a problem past that. The really bad thing about this is that it probably means Sony is wrong about the other estimates too. I don't think MS has any chance to be #1 worldwide but this is good for Nintendo. If Wii does well like DS it'd be difficult to overtake it. Good for Nintendo, bad for me. I am very upset at the idea of Wii being that successful. The idea of Nintendo as leader again is scary. I do NOT want that to happen at all. MS would even be better than that.
  19. The US is a bigger market.
  20. When I am done with SOTN I might try Castlevania III and Bloodlines.
  21. I've always wondered why they put so many women in. Does anyone ever do those special matches too, like the fantasy match in 2006?
  22. Yeah FFX-2 was consistently silly. Which is like the best thing about it. Everyone should thank FF VII for cheap rpgs!
  23. Almost everyone hates him. I actually like him though. Well more like his potential. They did a good job building him up. The entire MK Mythologies game is like a setup for him as the new villain. They just did a horrible job actually having him be boss in MK4. He has no moves! Where did that mimic power come from? There's nothing in MKM or the MK4 story showing him using the power to mimic others. It just came out of no where. In MKM and the MK4 story scenes he has all kinds of cool power. He can shoot green energy, he can levitate, he can use forcefields. He even turns into a giant monster at the end of MKM. Then you see him fight in the game and he has none of that, just a weak Shang Tsung ripoff. You just know the truth is that they ran out of time designing MK4 and slapped the mimic power on him because they had nothing else. It's so poorly done the CPU version never even does it. When you fight him as the final boss he has no special moves at all. They should have given him his own moves from the endings and MKM and maybe even had him turn into that creature at the end after beating him normally. I have no idea why Quan Chi wasn't subboss. He is Shinnok's right hand man. It's also strange that you can play as Shinnok from the start. Shinnok wasn't added to the tower as the boss until the last minute when the game was shipped nationally. That makes me wonder if the original idea was for normal Shinnok to be playable like he is and a special Shinnok as boss and they just couldn't do it. In MKA Shinnok should have a huge role in the story. He should be one of the most powerful and influencial characters and comparable to Raiden, Shao Kahn and Onaga but I doubt he will be. Midway and fans have been basically ignoring him since he sucked in MK4. His amulet is still important but he is gone. I hate the amulet btw. That is the ultimate deus ex machina in MK. In every game they retcon it into doing something different. It's powers seem to be "doing whatever the writers need for the current story". It's also annoying how so many people think Shinnok is powerless without it which was never the case. That was a misconception that's become so widespread I wouldn't be surprised if it's brought up in MKA and randomly became part of the real story. He doesn't need the amulet to fight or have powers. All the stuff he did in MK4 was without it. I hope they get rid of the amulet for good in MKA. I never want to see it again. And yeah Goro wasn't in the arcade. Neither was Noob(in the final version). There is just no subboss in arcade.
  24. They're definitely legit. It's not like these endings are leaked footage from a 4 month old beta. The game ships in like 6 weeks. It's not even the lack of art that is the worst problem. The actual content of the endings sucks too. Even full CGI cutscenes wouldn't make these endings interesting. They're all just short, generic "what if" scenarios that don't move the overall story forward at all. It's strange they didn't do it like MKDA and MKD where for the most part each ending just covered their characters own little subplot and many were all connected so that after watching all of them you could piece together the full story. If this is the last game of this "era" they should have done it that way. We all know characters like Mileena and Meat are not going to actually win and take over so giving them generic endings like that is just filler and a waste of time. Unless everything is in Konquest or something the story seems very weak and underdeveloped. MKDA and MKD had more to it and they weren't supposed to be the big finale. It would be stupid if everyone has a generic "they won and got their wish" ending and we had to wait till next gen to see what really happened. That looks to be the case though. I can't believe there's no character specific fatalities. That is just a whole new level of laziness for them. That's like the staple of MK. It's the one thing it does better than anyone else. Now there's just the lame custom fatality system which isn't anywhere near as cool as they tried to hype it up to be. It's basically just a brutality. A canned chain of minor finishing moves that everyone shares. Incredible let down. They're trying to make it seem interesting but it's obvious the whole thing is just a way to have a generic fatality instead of doing character specific ones for over 60 characters. They could have AT LEAST had one per character besides this thing. I think this over anything else will get the most fan backlash. People went nuts when MKDA only had one per character. Once you see everything there is to see with this custom fatality thing, which should be like 30 minutes, everyone is going to hate it. Edit: Saw Sub-Zero, Shang Tsung and Chameleon's endings. Also bad. Chameleon's is a joke! It's like that BS from the UMK3/MKT era where it's a paragraph that says nothing at all. His ending literally can be summerized in two sentences. "Chameleon is mysterious. He showed up and beat everyone". That's it! That's his whole story! This stuff is so generic and vague I'm actually wondering if John Vogel is not writing anymore or if he's been specifically told to make the story short and pointless.
