  1. Heart has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of pitchers with heart. They usually end up on operating tables. This isn't to say Maddux couldn't go the distance. Its just to say that sweating out a few extra pitches in a start is not always a worthwhile cause. And I think it was the right move. A fresh Hawkins is probably better than Maddux after 80 pitches. Even good pitchers give up runs once in awhile. Sometimes even after your best strategerial moves, you get burned.
  2. It is certainly a statistical possibility. It's not what you're thinking of, but every team on the losing end of a perfect game has had 0 LOB.
  3. Bruiser Chong, remember who recommended that you pick up Hafner in your fantasy league. And I am glad I traded Vazquez right now.
  4. I think he'd rather have Weaver back at this point.
  5. My university is taking a bus trip to this game. If it weren't for work, I'd go.
  6. And with that, the Yankees tie the record for the worst shutout loss in the history of modern major league baseball. 22-0!
  7. Holy shit. I knew the Yankees were losing bad, but damn. I hereby rescind my declaration. Anglesault has every right to bitch about this game.
  8. And I'm heading this off now. Anglesault, you have one post available to bitch about the Yankees' performance tonight. After that, no more. I don't want this thread taken up by a stream of continual complaining.
  9. Make that nine of ten the way today's Cleveland/Yankees game is going.
  10. Figured I'd roll these out again as otherwise posters aren't inclined to start topics. I just sponsered Pablo Ozuna's page on baseball-reference.com.
  11. Here's a question. If its a non-Nintendo game (i.e. Third Party developer), does Nintendo have any grievance?
  12. And that's not a rule, just a guideline.
  13. My opinion on the spoiler tags. I think as a general rule, once it airs in the states, its fair game. I am sorry if Europeans catch the game on tape delay, but this board is based in the US. If you absolutely do not want the result spoiled, you should probably avoid the thread.
  14. I'm thinking the Bills' comeback misses the cut. Everything else was big from a historical standpoint, while the Bills-Oilers game is really just a playoff game.
  15. Let's not kid ourselves here. Jordan hit .202 and slugged .266. And that's as a 31 year old in AA. To give you some perspective, all but one Birmingham Barons player is hitting better this season.
  16. By the way, any truth to the rumour that the Mets gave up David Wright and Sidd Finch in return for Brown?
  17. I've been doing this for a long time. I won't believe the Phillies are back in the race until they have a three game lead.
  18. He never gave up many home runs. Give him a good right fielder, and he can go far.
  19. We've now got a three game tie for the wild card. And Gavin Floyd is tenatively schedules to make his major league debut Friday.
  20. Agreed. That this takes up two consecutive slots is nonsense.
  21. And chatter threads are allowed. I just grew tired of creating them, and as moderator I felt obligated to create them fairly and in a timely fashion.
  22. Because of concern that with the NFL threads and other sports, there would be an overkill of pinned threads.
  23. Damn. The man spend around 12-15 paragraphs bashing a movie he hasn't even seen?
  24. C'mon now. They should have swept two series against playoff contenders?
  25. What a waste of space. First off, RBIs are an entirely useless statistic. So Carlos Delgado has almost as many RBIs as Alex Rodriguez? Delgado's hitting .233 with runners in scoring position. It doesn't mean a damned thing. A-Rod has Delgado trashed in just about every offensive category. Second, Bernie's got a bad arm. The sad state of today's sports journalism is that they tend to focus on what a player CAN'T do, rather than what they CAN do.
