  1. No. That topic states who SHOULD be on the team. Not who IS. We don't need to railroad everything into existing topics.
  2. Good news for Carmelo. Reports have stated Michael Redd was invited as well, and I hope he joins the squad.
  3. I'm actively considering creating Rick Vaughn and placing him on the Indians. Why not have some fun? Sometimes I need to break out of my perfectionist mold.
  4. Of all time, no. If you mean the last twenty-five years, then yes, because they have the story to go along with the losses. I would probably place them in the bottom half likely. They aren't as bad as the Tigers teams.
  5. First off, the government accepts Cuban refugees who make our shores. Thus, they are not illegal immigrants. They are here legally. Someone more knowledgeable may quibble on the exact specifics, but there's a difference between Cuban refugees and say Mexicans crossing the Southern boarder. Second, the jobs immigrants tend to "steal" are low level, minimum wage jobs. The type of jobs we lose to immigrants tends to be jobs such as cleaning overnights at Wal-Mart. I'm not losing sleep over that. I must say, it takes quite a mindset to see a man's family fleeing a Communist nation to re-unite with him in the Land of Opportunity, and spin it as a negative. And yet you have. Good work.
  6. A link is posted above.
  7. Did that kid try and use Miguel Cairo as a POSITIVE? And that Mets fan forgot Scott Kazmir and David Wright.
  8. Yes, 21 immigrants from Cuba is a real strain on our economy. I just heard one of them is taking away my retail job here in Pennsylvania. Grow up.

  10. I'm surprised the '92-'93 Mets didn't place on the list. Not many bad teams have books written about them.
  11. This sounds like a good time to plug my list of the 10 worst MLB teams of the last 25 years.
  12. They kept Charlie Ward, Kurt Thomas, and Latrell Sprewell around for quite awhile. Those three got big contracts as well, I believe. After those three, the next three players from the '99 squad in terms of playing time were Patrick Ewing (retired), Larry Johnson (ditto), and Chris Childs (played 12 games last season). The Knicks DID keep those players, and that was the problem. The team finished four games above .500 in a strike-shortened season, finished fourth, and somehow made the finals. They weren't that good, but management decided they were a championship caliber club. '99 Knicks Team Page.... http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/NYK/1999.html
  13. Did you mean Pedro Feliz? Deivi Cruz has been around awhile.
  14. So what is it like being ignorant? This is nothing but terrific news for Contreras. Regardless of how he pitches, what is important in his life has come back to him.
  15. Ugh. Redistributing teams is never a good move.
  16. The Jason Grimsley deal has me shaking my head. The Orioles are not winning anything this year, and bullpen help is the last piece of a championship puzzle, not the first. The Orioles panicked, and it may cost them dearly. "If he [bautista] avoids injuries, he could develop into a number one starter." -John Sickels' Baseball Prospect Book
  17. This is the old TWIB thread. New stuff should go in the new thread, pinned above.
  18. With Larry Walker coming off the DL, we'll see if my pickup pays off.
  19. I think Tony Tarasco would have been a better reference here.
  20. This whole bitching about officiating is getting really silly. You cannot make it perfect, and anyone, given time, can produce examples of how their team has been screwed by bad calls. This one is particularly idiotic, because even if the pitch is called a ball, Miguel Cairo is up next. You're just delaying the inevitable. Grow up.
  21. That's the point. Otherwise, why is K Zone smaller than home plate. It certainly could have. An inch or two to the left during its trajectory, and its a solid strike. As an aside, why didn't Hideki vehimently argue the call if it was such a goddamned tragedy.
  22. If they were compensating for the camera angle, wouldn't the left side of K-Zone extend just as much beyond the other side of the plate? It doesn't. And to clarify the rules, all the ball has to do is nick the plate, at any point during its trajectory.
  23. That pitch missed the plate by INCHES. Big f'n deal. There is no harder job in umpiring/officiating than calling balls and strikes. If its not Eric Gregg calling the NLCS, there's not much you can do to improve it.
  24. Josh Hamilton is clean from what I've read, but his baseball career is in serious jeopardy.
  25. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp Futures Game Rosters. The game is held the Sunday before the All-Star game.
