It's not planes, not trains, not cars or boats
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to BUTT's topic in The WWE Folder
On the news itself, not too much to say. John Cena's high sales should serve as a lesson in salesmanship itself, that fans prefer bigs names and personalities and not necessarily what obscure matches make the dvds. -

Thanks for these. I would make the suggestion (just a suggestion mind you), that editorializing is put in parenthesis, just so we can tell what is your's. Meltzer can tend to editorialize on his own from time to time, so it helps. -
You'll be disappointed, there's not much bad I can honestly say about the place itself. Lushus dislikes me a bit but he's a good poster. Dr. Tom got me writing for the main site when we had one.

It probably should be John Cena. It's a nice thought to give a wrestler a rub, but if that wrestler tanks or flakes, you've lost what could have been a great moment. What if they had used Andre to put over, say, Billy Jack Haynes at Wrestlemania III? I think the best thing to do is use the streak to build a legitimate big main event.

The Pit is a fairly good messageboard overall. They have some good posters there who I wish still posted here but do not for various reasons. Unfortunately they have some posters who are awful, and a few of those who insist on taking cracks at me at every possible turn. Some of the criticism and mocking is tiresome. Baseball stats? Yeah, if you are going to be derivative, that's probably a good way to start. But that I hate women? Where the hell does THAT come from? Comments about my moderating, well 90% of the posters here think I do a good job, so obviously that's not going to bother me. I hesitate to get involved in any of it, because her ilk really thrives on any type of perceived controversy and arguing. I'm not going to convince her or Paul of anything, and no one else really cares.

Konnan files lawsuit against TNA
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
TNA may produce bad wrestling, but is there any universe where it's a good thing for them to go under? -
It's continuous, that's the problem. One instance, no biggie. But it happens all the time. Edit: To elaborate, there are two problems. One is not citing a source. The other one is passing off an item word-for-word with no indication you picked it up elsewhere.

Nothing on that level, though I'm sure there are a couple good morsels I might dig up. Honus Wagner had an absolutely historic season.

I actually picked Western Kentucky to win. I'm really regretting not taking UCLA further though. -
In honor of the 1908 Cubs, I'm going to do a bit of a piece on the 1908 NL season. Anything special I should cover?

A bit offtopic, but has anyone else grown a strong distaste for luxury cars, insurance companies and banking institutions over the last few days? -
Exactly. I can't stress this enough. CREDIT YOUR SOURCES. Don't pass off shit without telling us who wrote it. Make it clear that it is NOT your writing.
-
Enigma, did you write that yourself or did you get it from another website?

NCAA BBall Tournament, 1st and 2nd Rounds
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in Sports
And that whole bubble thing amuses me. In College football, analysts complain that deserving teams are left out when they only take the top two teams. College Basketball has a 65 team field, and people STILL complain about which teams were left out. -
I couldn't resist. Kinetic wasn't around to knock it out of the park either.

Some coach thinks expanding the field is a good idea? I'm sorry, but when your 64th team loses a game 70-29, it's a good sign that the last teams are already a bit overmatched. -
I really don't have anything exciting to print, but I can't let this one slip by. Cheers man!

Honestly, I don't notice it. Of course it might be different on my screen. -
At least good tickets are easy to find. I went to Camden last August, got lower level seats inexpensively, met Boog Powell and had a great time. I think the best thing is to look at the young players and embrace individual performances. that is the best part...i've already got tickets for some red sox and yankee games, and theres never a shortage of cheap tickets for every other team though why is it when the BoSox play at Camden, it ebcomes a BoSox home game? A couple of reasons. Their overall popularity, the shorter distance to Boston, and the fact that it is still easier to get into Camden Yards for a Red Sox game than into Fenway Park for any game. The Phillies have the Red Sox as well this year. The Phillies are using a ticket lottery to sell single game tickets for the series. Going into a drawing for tickets against a team who has taken the last eight of nine games from the home team? Pass.

Thought we could use this. What programs do you guys usually record off WWE 24/7? What format do you use (VHS, dvd recorder, etc.)? I still record on VHS. Usually I will tape most WCW PPVs, as they are unavailable commercially. Most WWE PPVs pre-1997 or so merit a recording for me. Sometimes if there is a particularly good shortie or other match I'll place it at the end of another program. And virtually any MSG show gets a record, especially if it is from the 1970s.

Overheard: "I didn't think Jonathon Cox would have the advantage on the inside." Silly announcer, Cox ALWAYS has the advantage on the inside. -
