the fact that Vanessa doesn't need the money wouldnt have mattered if it were Mark's kid, she would have gotten Child Support from him anyway unless she declined it (and who would do that?) And Vanessa just seemed wacked out to me..she might have been ready for a kid but she was ready under the assumption Mark would be with her. Her successful career is down the drain now for sure.

When the couple broke up, I thought for sure that instead of having to have Juno take care of the baby herself that they'd go miscarriage or something. But then she left the note and the woman was still in and Now instead of having a teenage mother raising the kid, you've got a wacked out single mother raising the kid which I think ends up being worse for the baby, especially since she ain't gonna get child support.

I heard gas will be $5 a gallon (some places but not a national average) by the end of the year and Diesel could run closer to $6 in some areas. $6 a gallon diesel will pretty much kill the trucking industry, so I would expect before it gets that bad that all the truckers will drive to DC and protest because the trucking industry is too important to let collapse and it being an election year they'll get bailed out (along with airlines). But you will just have to deal with it. Also, Ive heard the first rumblings of people hoarding gas now to save money. I could really do that as a 10 gallons lasts me almost month so if I filled up a couple 10 gallon jugs I could get through the summer on $3.29 gas..but I need to find some cheap gas jugs and I bet those would cost more than the savings on the gas.

I just read the gang parents thread that I totally missed. A thread on a topic that probably didnt need to be posted here cept for the fact that Invader wanted to use it for his parental licensing campaign (which went so well the first time) and was turned into a thread tangent about gays, lesbians, etc by the end of page 2 which had absolutely ZERO to do with the original topic just to attack posters who were in the discussion before it got moved to the CS. yeah.. Its not onion. Au Gratin has a cheese sauce and scalloped has just a plain white sauce. Also, though some people put a breadcrumb mixture on top of scalloped potatoes, technically thats the gratin part of "au gratin" potatoes (au gratin means with crust). I assume that too many people probably use the boxed mixes which really dont have any difference between scalloped and au gratin as I think Betty Crocker's scalloped potatoes have cheese in them too. Both of these potato dishes are pretty difficult to do from scratch unless you have a slicer to get the potato slices thin enough since they have to be sliced thin and all the same thickness or else the potatoes wont cook right. But if you have one its real easy (slice the potatoes thin, layer in a dish and pour the sauce over and bake).

My personal hope is that by the time my Yaris is paid off (2012ish) the Chevy Volt will be in its 2nd or 3rd Generation and much cheaper. Its supposed to use all electricity and no gas for trips less than 40 miles per day which would be plenty for me. Supposedly it'll be $30,000 when it comes out in 2010/11. I think that Chevy has pretty much put everything on the line with the Volt, if it fails I think Chevy and GM will be doomed. Also, Im curious what everyone thinks about the push to halt state/federal gas taxes? I know its been proposed in Maryland and Mccain had mentioned it was something he would do. The federal Tax is only 18 cents which really wont make a huge dent in the cost, and it would also take away money that is probably needed to fix roads and bridges. in fact Ive seen more than a few people who suggest that the federal gas tax should be raised in order to kick start Americans changing their driving habits, but that will never happen in a billion years, even though Clinton/Obama's cap and trade system on greenhouse gases would do the exact same thing, but they aren't coming right out and saying "we're gonna tax you $1 per gallon of gas". Under the cap and trade system, gas stations could have to pay up to $1 per gallon permit credit for the greenhouse gases that would be created by the gas they sell and you know that will get passed on to the consumer.

I do believe that was the case at one point in time.. Im just pleased to see EHME reverting back to his old self...no way he'll be able to keep up the act much longer.
