The Os are really hot on Marcus Thames and I assume that signing Payton compliments that move if they eventually get it done, but in no way should Payton be a starting OF. Problem I have is that the article I saw said the main reason he's with the Os is because he felt hed be a starter in Baltimore, but at least hes better than the mess they had in the OF last year.
Problem is neither of them are big name enough to draw people to the Camden Yards, nor are they probably going to put up the kind of offense that the Os need. This is a lot like them signing guys like Marty Cordova and David Segui a few years ago.
