I was reading about how they're going to phase out Analog AM/FM radio over in England replacing it with Digital (and also HD) Radio, and I was thinking how much harder that would be in the US than even TV. You can stick an analog radio tuner in a cheap piece of crap and sell it for $2. Plus everyone with a radio in their car would need a new radio, not to mention people with alarm clocks. I figure after they do the TV transition they'll probably go after radio, so its still a ways down the road..

You know, I was suprised when I did a search to find that 3,000 people live where I do. I think they must have counted the chickens and cows. I mean, we have a post office, fire dept and a gas station and thats it. No traffic lights, which is always the sure sign of small town america.

HD Lite, a term coined by someone (Im assuming probably AVS but I dont know) is Directv's solution to limited bandwith capacity until they get their 2 sats launched next year and convert over fully to MPEG4 encoding. Most of, if not all of their HD channels are offered 1280x1080i (although I think sports channels are left at 1280x720p). They are getting sued because they keep promoting offering HD Channels in 1080i (think Jessica Simpson's stupid ad) and 1080i would be 1920x1080i which isn't what they are offering. Your real uptight HD fanatics with other options for HD are throwing fits and calling for boycotts on the basis that if Directv keeps it up and makes money than cable operators will start doing it as well. Unfortunately without a sat service for HD, Id be stuck with CBS and ABC in HD because I live too far out for Cable or anything else, and the signal is still much better than all of Directvs SD resolution channels (which look worse than normal SD I should add). Supposedly with the 2 Sat Launces Directv will have capacity to add 40 HD Channels (national or Locals is the hot question right now) but it might also allow them to transmit 1080i at 1920x1080 too.

Duh..the internal memory is only 512 and its not very many "blocks" for saves. Its really not a problem now, but it would be if I could download VC games, but then I could download the update... Ive got a 512 card for my camera that works (Ive used the photo viewer thing) but I couldnt figure out how to transfer saves to the SD cards. I assume I can offload the saves on my computer using my card reader, although I haven't looked to see if thats possible yet. I do know the saves are specific to your console so you cant trade em.. 2,145 blocks open..I guess its not too much to worry about right now but I still want to get the update before its not available anymore or something.

I cant imagine what an episode of SP would look like in HD.

Im gonna bitch now..because this is something Ive been trying to figure out but not seriously until just now: In order to transfer saves from the internal memory to SD cards, the W!! has to fucking update via the internet. So basically Im stuck with the internal memory for saves. YAY! I thought this was a built in feature. Anyone know if Nintendo is offering those stupid startup discs or some way to update the W!! without internet? Edit: Found it..gotta call a #.. ugh..waste of post #21,000

Why would they be blacked out? NFL Blackout rule = not sold out game. Lambeau's not gonna be sold out? and at least the Ravens are now getting to Palmer..late..but at least hitting him.. Unless citizens of those towns have NFL network, they can't air the game outside the primary market. Such as right now, people outside the primary market aren't getting the Cincinnati game on the local broadcast of the game. The game will air in Milwaukee at least: Week 16: Thursday, December 21, 2006 Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers FOX Ch.6 (WITI-Milwaukee); CBS Ch.5 (WFRV-Green Bay) shows how interesting the ravens game is..sad really..
