  1. YAY! LIVE HD! WHOO! Too bad the game will be a dud after the 1rst qtr. Dan Cody being able to play this season will be a huge improvement on the defense for the Ravens.
  2. I Remember the most common comment about Prison Break last year was "How are they going to make this work past the first season?" Well, at least the second season looks like its going to be as good if not better than the first. I really cant wait.
  3. Im begging for the NBC out of NY to not be blacked out so I can watch the Ravens and Giants in HD LIVE..otherwise my other option is later on tonight on MASN in crappy SD.
  4. Are you talking about this quote: Mole's wrong again. Honestly I didnt know that about the 360 myself though so I guess I shouldn't be saying anything. Theres obviously a difference between storing film on a disc and storing game information thats rendered by a CPU.
  5. Not wanting to have a long distance bill out the wazoo, I googled the #. I could use a talk with a "comfort specialist".
  6. Wow. Somebody wasn't paying attention to those 'don't try this at home' messages. And yeah, nWo would have been cooler. Remember there was a thing on WWE.com about someone spraypainting DX all over the building in Stamford?,, coincidence?
  7. I've had a HD-Tivo for a year and prior to that I had a HD Directv reciever. Im as a big of a proponent of HD as there is on here, and I try to help out people whenever I can if someone has a question or whatever. The fact that people are saying how non-HD channels look bad probably stems from the fact that they are stretching the SD channels to fit the whole screen instead of keeping the aspect ratio at 4:3 and getting pillarbars. Everyone hates those nasty black bars (whether at the top/bottom or sides) though. Stretched SD channels are a travesty, I dont want to fill the whole screen and have everyone look bloated. The W!! not having HD capabilities is a pointless argument. The 360 is HD Capable and will have an HD-DVD add-on. The PS3 comes fully equiped with a Blu Ray drive. Both complete console setups will run you close to $600 or more(depending on which flavor of the console you get and how much the HD-DVD add-on drive is). The W!!, at worst will sell for half that, maybe even 1/3 of that. The target audience for Nintendo probably has no desire for HD compatibility. There isn't a reason to jack the cost of the W!! up to include HD compatibility when the graphics aren't going to be on par with either of the other systems. I was perfectly satisfied playing RE4 on my HD TV over the standard cables in 480i mode and since that is the pinacle of the gamecube graphics, I would expect W!! games for the most part to look as good as that and at least they'll be in 480p. The 360 and PS3 are HD Capable because both MS and Sony have stakes in how High Definition pans out (Sony probably has more though). HD capability really only affects graphics which is the one thing Nintendo emphasizes the least, so it shouldn't be a surprise they're not on the HD Bandwagon. Id imagine if theres a future Nintendo home console made, it would have HD Compatibility because by then it would be hard to hook up otherwise.

I posted that Ultra HD thing btw.. The fact is, the human eye really cant detect that high level of detail so its really overkill for television. I could see them figuring a way to use it for theatres as a way to make the theatre experience better since the screen would be large enough and the 22 channel sound system would fit..
  9. Pull out my teeth? I tried talking to her at the start but it wasn't going anywhere. It was a "Im here, I paid 5 bucks to get in, I might as well try" kind of thing, but I tried.
  10. Foley/Flair I Quit > Taker/Khali Last Man Standing
  11. Im convinced a few people missed my epic trip to a Sports Bar that I posted about over in the Virgin thread. (which is sorta like the prequel to this thread). Granted, she was fat, but I went in with the idea of trying to at least have a conversation and after I think 2 smirnoff Ices in 1/2 hour and a few dumb questions that got like no answer back, I pretty much sat there for the rest of the time making fun of the Duke/NC game on the plasma because it wasn't fed from an HD source. Funny thing though the more she had to drink the more she was talking to me but at the point I was more interested in the stupidity of feeding a $3000 plasma basic cable to even listen. I'm not flat set against all alchol, I just am not a fan of beer. I had a mixology class in College and can mix drinks pretty well. I usually buy a bottle of wine every week to drink with dinner as if that counts..
  12. Yes, I've still read Garfield and its rather depressing. Jons been a loser longer than I've been alive..
  13. Just saw the trailer for Night at the Museum..I don't think its going to do very well.
  14. I Would rather work at Dollar Tree for a couple years than to waste a year (less or more) in college, dropout and be stuck with a large sum of student loans due with nothing to show for it. Not to mention the "college dropout tag" which to me would be worse than not going to college at all since it shows that you can't handle tougher responsibilities. And deciding to go to college late in the summer just reeks of "inevitable dropout" to me but whatever. All I know is I had planned to go to JWU back in my Junior year although I was unsure how I was going to pay for such an expensive school (20k a year give or take) but I lucked out and won a big scholarship the summer prior to my senior year which covered about half of everything for 4 years (although bonehead me only went 2 years).
  15. I for one, do not support this new rule..but I am obviously in the minority on the subject.
  16. My one problem now is TV on DVD Sets which most of the time sit on My Shelf unwatched after I sit through and watch all of the episodes once. And Im totally anal about it except for the fact that 2 seasons of the X Files are in Slim Cases, but be damned if Im spending $90 on the fat ones when the slim ones are $30. Just in case you cant tell theres: All Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy (Plus the Stewie Griffin DVD), American Dad, 24, Seinfeld and Prison Break sets released plus Seasons 1-6 (of 9) X files and Season 1 (of 3) Lois and Clark, although I really have no interest in Lois and Clark as it was a gift (if someone wants it, make me an offer)..plus the Bret Hart and Flair DVD sets only because Im out of room on my other shelf for DVDs (which I very rarely buy now since I rent everything). Plus, not on THE SHELF are the first 3 Seasons of the Shield which I loaned out. Upcoming TV Sets to purchase include My Name is Earl S1(9/19), 24 S5 (sometime in November) and The Simpsons S8 (next Tuesday!!), and Im guessing the remaining 3 Seasons of Seinfeld..Im gonna need a 2nd shelf.
  17. Going to college for the sole purpose to avoid going to work is insanely stupid. I Feel bad for him when he's out of college (degree or no degree) and that first student loan payment comes due and he still doesn't have a job (which sort of happened to me although I lucked out and was able to score an extension but it cost me long term). Of course, I can say that me going to college has been worth nothing towards what Im doing right now although I wouldn't have got my present job without my degree. BUT Im certainly not making boatloads of money that a college degree supposedly magically entitles you to.

Who is the best, Marvin? I'll be in the market for one within the next 4-5 months and as far as images go, i've liked the Sony LCD projections more than the assorted DLPs. My dad's got the 70" inch Sony WEGA, which is gratuitous and possibly one of mankind's greatest inventions all at the same time. I'm open to other considerations, though, and probably looking for something in the 42"-46" range since I'm in a modest apartment. Well how much are you willing to spend? For one thing, don't get a plasma. The biggest CRTs get are 36" and they would be heavy has fuck, so you probably don't want that. You're not going to find any DLPs that are under 48". So your best bet would be a LCD. This JVC is pretty good. It also had 1080p, which is a plus even though nothing is being broadcast in that yet and probably won't for a while. And this Sony isn't that bad, but it is a Sony and I'm not a big fan of them. Im a fan of Samsung.. As far as 1080p, sets that support it are expensive but..Blu Ray supports 1080p and HD-DVD doesn't. Thats probably not a huge bonus for BR given the # of 1080p sets out, but a future advantage for BR definitely. I am sure the next gen HDDVD player will output at 1080p. And I read somewhere that the BR player downconverts to 1080i then upconverts back to 1080p before it hits the screen, which would take away from it. Have you seen the difference between the HDDVD and BR Marv? HDDVD is SO much better than BR. HD-DVD doesnt have the capability (READ: DISC SIZE) to do 1080p. And downconverting to interlaced and then upconverting back to progressive for what I've read doesn't affect picture quality one bit. I have seen both boxes but to my knowledge I havent seen either in action since BB has the TVs all hooked up to the instore video feed.
  19. The mobisodes are really dumb as its like alternate reality land in the Prison Break Universe, sorta like the webisodes off the 4th Season of 24 set. Since its brought to you by Toyota..everyone drives a Toyota. Plus theres no way to access the individual episodes that I can find so it just plays right through. Im going to try and watch all the episodes between now and the 21rst but with my work schedule..might not make it.
