I was going, but I had to choose between this and a Ravens/Titans game in Tennesee which I'll get to make more a trip out of. And no one could have worse seats than I did at the MCI Center for Starcade 1998. I was at the very last row all the way up at the top of the arena (directly behind me was the wall that supports the ceiling) and above the entrance area for the wrestlers...

.. Where would Lowell play? Im all for anything that gets Julio and Kline outta Baltimore and doesn't involve Daniel Cabrerra, but I still dont get why the Os would want Lowell. He wouldn't be playing 3b and he wouldn't be able to DH unless Gibbons plays RF wihich would mean Sosa would have to sit...um..go for it. And getting Burnett would mean that they could get Sidney Fatso out of the Rotation as well, which would make every Os fan a lot happier.

I don't know he'd have a tough time beating Adam We. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really didn't expect Peter to run for mayor after I saw/read the previews. Oh, and I dont mind a few of the "This reminds me of that time..." jokes, but they were overdone in this episode.

I suppose one can keep hoping for a new Kid Icarus game..but I think Nintendo must have something against it, so much so I doubt the original will even be available for the Revolution.

For WM7, do they eliminate every trace of the WWF in the commentary? I wish DirecTV had VOD. I heard they were working on it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Supposedly..the new Directv in house DVRs (not the ones with Tivo) will be able to do VOD, and they are supposed to be coming out soon. Directv obviously has a solid relationship now with the WWE (They are offering a 3 PPV deal (GAB,SS,Unforgiven) for $88.95, and will be showing Summerslam Recall for free next weekend on channel 121) so I would assume as soon as Directv has the capability to offer it, they will. -
I think Raffy should be in the HOF just because it would be a crime to leave a guy with both 3,000 hits and 500 HRs out, given how exclusive that club is. I think he had to get 3,000 hits though. And the O's are on their way to another win in Seattle, up 6-3 in the 8th after a Fasano HR. And lo and behold, Sosa has a 3 hit night..

The OAO Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Thread

The buildup to the kids finding the golden tickets seemed really rushed compared to the first movie. I really liked Wonka's first meeting with the kids in the new version though, the puppets catching on fire and that song were quite funny and it was better than arguing over signing a contract. And I thought it was cool that Depp's Wonka treated the kids horribly from the outset. I really did miss all of Wonka's songs though, although I doubt Depp could have done them 1/2 as well as Wilder and this really wasn't much of a musical. I thought the Oompa Loompas' songs were better, but the music drowned out some of the lyrics. As far as they are concerned, I still cant decide which version I like, but I think the originals were creepier and probably would have fit in more in the newer version. I dont think you can really compare the two endings since they relied on different aspects, and I really didn't mind the "wonka's father" storyline, as it sorta helped explain why he was so wierd. Overall, I thought the special effects were awesome (the opening sequence was pretty cool) and I think they did a good job with the setting and atmosphere. I could sit here and debate which version I liked better, but ultimately I think they are almost two completely different movies that share the fact that they are both based on the same book, and I liked them both.. Oh, and I was pissed when the preview for the Corpse Bride started, I thought they were making a sequel to A Nightmare Before Christmas..and technically it might as well be. And Ice Age 2, the teaser for that was pretty funny too. -
If Boston takes just 1 of 4, and the Os sweep the Mariners, the Os would be back in first place, 3 out of 4 from the Mariners and they'd be tied with the Sox.

Didn't realize this, but Steve Reed was designated for assignment and the Os brought up Grimsley, so one of the crappy Steves is out of the Os bullpen, hopefully Kline isn't too far behind.

Raffy draws a walk @ 1 hit short of 3000 and the Seattle crowd boos, but to his credit he wasn't really trying to get #3000..

Os are winning 4-3 in the 7th. Don't get your hopes up too much now..

Next week, the National Association of Lawyers (No idea if there really is one or not) blasts Vince for allowing a "lawyer" to be beat up in the ring by Taker. I would laugh my ass off if that happened.

Wow..its like you were posting from 1 1/2 hours in the future..

I keep saying every week in the SD thread that they should just be called D-Mex because they remind me too much of a mexican version of D-X.

I had: Jake Peavy Felipe Lopez Moises Alou Plus I traded Oswalt and Konerko. -
The Jays trading for one of the top FA pitchers available at the deadline makes no sense because theres no way they'll even be in the race for the Wild Card, let alone the division. Id love to see the Os pull the trigger on the deal, but hopefully they wont have to part with Cabrerra. Also, Id like to know why ESPN is calling this weekend "Rivalry Weekend", the only real rivalry game is NY/Boston (and I think they have all 4 games..), although maybe you could say that SF/LA Dodgers is a rivalry game..but none of the other matchups scream "RIVALRY!" to me..

Im trying to figure out how anyone would be able to do anything about people wanting to kill themselves by blowing themselves up in a crowded area, especially if none of the people would get noticed by the government scanning for possible terrorists. This one showed a lot of planning, but some people might just wake up one morning and go, "I want to go blow myself up today" and they could probably do it.
-
I think its funny that, in the last week we've learned that it probably wasn't terrorists who were behind the London bombings to start with, and yet everyone assumed from the start that it was those pesky terrorists up to their evil no good ways again. Why this has anything to do with the Hassan situation.. Well..if everyone hadn't cried TERRORIST! at the first sign of something bad happening..because logically now in the post 9-11 age, terrorists are the only ones capable of doing anything as bad as blowing up London, then no one would have cared what Hassan did on Smackdown.

If you got the warranty, you should call them to come look at it, as thats what you bought the warranty for. Also, I use the stretch mode on my widescreen TV to eliminate the black pillarbars on the 4:3 SD programming, although some of the HD channels that air programming in 4:3 can't be stretched. At first it was hard to deal with because everything (and everyone) looks bloated, but I dont even really notice it any more.
