Os put up a 6 spot in the 9th on the Tigers to go up 11-2. A rather questionable call in the favor of the Os kept the inning going as Montanez probably should have been called for interference breaking up the double play by throwing his hands up causing the ball to hit him, but the umps didn't see it and the inning kept on going.

Os put up an 8 run inning highlighted by Lou Montanez getting 2 hits and 2 RBI in the inning. Hes showing he can hit in the majors after leading the Eastern League with a .335 avg, 29 HR and 98 RBI through early August, including a 5-6 8 RBI game on 8/1 just before he got called up to replace Adam Jones. He even hit a HR in his first major league AB vs LA last week. Im hoping that he takes Payton's 4th OFer role next year, though everyone seems to question his defense in the OF.

The Ravens very quietly signed Lorenzo Neal to a 1 year contract. Hes been the FB in front of 11 straight 1,000 yard rushers and was in Cam Cameron's system when they were out in SD. I think its a real good move if theres any doubt as to McGahee's status past the opener, as Ray Rice had a lot of problems in the first preseason game. Im starting to think that McGahee, who came to camp not ready and out of shape, might need more time than even the first game to be ready to start, and the first couple of games could end up being a mix between them both with Ray Rice eventually settling in as the 3rd down back.

I wish they could clone Guthrie and have him pitch every game. 4 ER allowed in the past 4 games over 29 1/3 ip (including 1 CG), and since the offense is scoring runs, hes won all 4 to improve to 10-8. Early in the year he had stretch of 12 out of 13 quality starts and went 3-5 cause they werent scoring runs for him. Tomorrow they face one of the guys the Indians got for CC Sabathia so I have no idea what will happen, though I can hope they manage a split of the 4 game series. At 57-62 they are still well within range of a .500 finish, which is all Im really rooting for at the present time. That and a better finish than the Yankees, partnered with beating them in the Yankee Stadium finale...but thats a month away.

First off, Sabathia and Harden went well ahead of the deadline so I dont even really think they count as much for deadline deals. Manny and Jason Bay were in the same trade. Not to mention big names that were put on waivers and could have been traded (Street, Giles) but were blocked one way or another. My real point was, why hype the deadline so much if just as big/important trades can happen in August. I understand that waivers complicate the trades more, but if Adam Dunn and Paul Byrd can clear waivers then I dont see the big problem.

Its kinda dumb there have been more big name moves after the trade deadline than before.

So..the draft is still scheduled for 2 weeks from yesterday and we're short 1 team for a 16 team league (which would be great if it were left at 16 btw)

Few things: Willis McGahee is out until at least week 1 after surgery on his knee, so Ray Rice is gonna get an extended look in the preseason and probably the start in week 1 for the Ravens vs the Bengals. NFL Network is carrying the Jets/Redskins game Saturday live. I wonder why.. Halftime Enterntainment at this years Super Bowl is Bruce Springsteen supposedly.

Friday. It's a stupid horror movie being released in the middle of August. Not an overhyped bomb at all. Ive seen the dumb preview about 5000000000 times. Kiefer's acting career is over, he'll never be able to do any roles without Jack Bauer being on the screen unless he undergoes a major makeover. I cant even watch Young Guns anymore either because of it and hes much younger with long hair in that.
