God is back in Green Bay. Does anyone really buy this "there will be a QB competition" nonsense?

Wired Article Midnight Meat Train is one of the 4 movies featured in the Article along with Hell Ride and a couple of Japanese movies.

And they have at least one series with all 5 of them. They still have 7 games with Tampa Bay (who will end up falling into the wild card lead), 6 games with Boston, 6 games with Toronto, 6 games with NY, 3 with Minnesota and 3 with Detroit. They also have 11 games vs Cleveland (8) and Oakland (3) still to play as well which should help them out a bit. The article pointed out that Colorado had a 63-60 record on 8/20 last year. The Os are 53-56 and the 17 games between today and 8/20 the Os have 1 game with Seattle, 3 at LA, 3 with Texas at home, 4 at Cleveland, 3 at Detroit and 3 vs Boston at home. Realistically they should be able to go 10-7 over that stretch and make it back to .500. Then over the last 36 games they have 24 (+1 for the 11 inning suspended game) games at home where they have a better record. I said earlier that the WC possibilities are far fetched, but they are positioned just like Colorado and Philadelphia were last year to make the playoffs so its not entirely out of the question. I seriously would just like to see them finish .500 this year though, which is a lot more likely to happen.

NY Daily News thinks the Orioles still have a shot at the Wild Card Could the Os be this season's Colorado/Philladelphia? If they get the kind of starting pitching they've gotten in the past week vs teams like the Angels, Yankees and the lowly Mariners, then maybe..the starting pitching has been the only problem they've really had all year.

that was 30 years ago and we're still 10 to 15 years away.. the equivalent of 35 cents a gallon for hydrogen!

You dont watch Letterman much.

It would have been cool if Jim Carrey was there and then Lawler confronted him and we finally had the payoff from the Man on the Moon fiasco at Summerslam.

I have my own judgment based on listening to him stammer and stutter in the previous debates and media appearances and Im obviously not the only one to notice it. 7 minutes of a 41 minute speech spent uh-ing. I failed my public speaking class' first 5 minute prepared speech in college for saying Uh once (I got about 2 minutes in, went "Uh" out of habit and was stopped and told to sit down because I just failed). Marvin, that post was retarded, even for you. Actually, I take that back: only you could make a big deal out of something stupid like this. the last 7 years have been nothing but "Lets make fun of George Bush every time he opens his mouth for a speech" and yet Obama gives a speech that makes Bush sound like one of the greatest orators in the history of the world and it's not a big deal anymore. I see..

How is it hillarious when its true? What good will the billions of barrels of oil that we're sitting on top of be for us in the 20-30 year future time frame when we no longer use it for anything? Meanwhile we're still buying other country's oil today because they're tapping it now and selling like it was going out of style, making them rich when we could be buying our own oil and contributing to our own economy. I think I figured it out..when we go completely off oil and the rest of the world uses up all their oil but are still using oil cause they didn't worry about getting off oil like we did, we can sell our oil and the price will be even higher and we'll be the new Saudi Arabia! That has to be the plan, its the only way this makes any sense.

B and Im looking forward to my long awaited rise to first place on Monday.

Really now? I added the (SP) part, but thats the description of the video from the person that uploaded it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080802/ap_on_el_pr/obama Bad side 1: Offshore drilling is a bad idea because we'll be depleting our own reserves and unbalancing the ecosystem just to lower prices a few dollars per fill-up at some point down the road. Bad side 2: Obama knows this and has offered a wishy-washy reveral of a positions he should have been changing the publics mind on and not the other way around. This hurts his credibility and gives ammo to his critics on the left. Good side 1: By acknowledging it as part of some future compromise with Republicans, he has helped innoculate himself against charges he's not willing to work with Republicans on important issues. Good side 2: He cannot be attacked for switching position when McCain did the exact same thing. Bad Side: Well for starters, just the notion that we're at least trying to drill for our own oil now has sent oil prices down about 20 cents a gallon which translates into a couple of dollars a fillup NOW, not at some point down the road. The whole notion that we have to move directly to these magical alternative sources of energy that don't currently exist in forms that are viable from both an economic and technological standpoint is flat out rediculous. We have all this oil sitting right below us that is worth something now, why not use it now while it can help us save money instead of waiting for it to be rendered worthless when we get off oil at some point down the road while continuing to spend tons of money to import foreign oil. Good Side: He can say whatever now, it doesn't matter. When he gets in office, it will be just another flip flop. He was for offshore drilling now but once he's elected he'll be against it and he'll probably re-enact the presidential ban shutting it all down again. I know that, you know that, everyone knows it.

Aubrey Huff has been so hot recently that the only thing that could stop him is the roof of the dugout in Seattle.

the debates are going to be awful. Obama will stammer and stutter if he gets a question he wasnt prepared for and Mccain will no doubt forget names or whatever. Obama even has a lot of trouble with prepared speeches..his speech in Germany was filled with errors and mistakes that deviated from the prepared copy that was given out.

The Brian Kendrick reminds me an awful lot of Mitch Hedberg in appearance.

I was just estimating earlier but I looked it up on google maps and the Distance from the Cromwell Light Rail station to Camden Yards is roughly 10 miles by road. My car gets, at worst 35 mpg, so roughly half a gallon of gas for round trip which at the current rate of $3.79 per gallon is $1.90, but with parking the light rail is still cheaper. As far as time, If I was driving into Baltimore Id definitely leave earlier and try to be at the park by 5pm to avoid rush hour and sitting around burning gas. Oh, and Glen Beck brought up a good point today on his show. Congress' ban on Offshore drilling is set to expire at the end of September and it doesn't look like they are going to even bother voting on an extension or anything. The plain and simple reason is that the Democrats dont want their party members who are up for re-election in November (read: Obama) who will mostly be voting against it (cause Nancy Pelosi would be angry if they did), giving the Republicans key ammo against them in the late months leading up to the election on such a key issue which Republicans actually seem to be gaining support for (Democrat X voted Against offshore drilling..he doesn't care about the high cost of gas and increasing prices on goods even though just talk of beginning offshore drilling dropped prices $25 a barrel in 1 week, just imagine what would happen if we were actually allowed to drill for oil..). So it looks like offshore drilling will be able to start in October although it will take a while to get started. I would imagine by October we could actually see the price of a barrel of oil below $100. Good news for everyone except the environmentalists! And of course, it will probably only last for a couple months until Obama comes in and shuts it all down, but if he goes and shuts it down then the price will go up again which will anger people.

I get Restaurants and Institutions Magazine every other week and they do a top 400 chain restaurants article every year based on sales from 2007. Bennigans was #56 on their list which just came out earlier in July, having $710 million in sales through about 1200 restaurants. For those of you complaining about Applebees (#11 on the list), they aren't going anywhere. They are the best performing casual chain in the country. They recently bought IHOP (#25), and they had $5 billion in sales across 1,900 stores with IHOP adding another $2 billion in sales over 1,200 stores. Chili's was #12 with sales of $3.7 billion. Denny's (#22) sales were $2.4 Billion. Ruby Tuesdays (#30) were $1.8 Billion. The fact is, with the economy tanking like it is, there will probably be more of these restaurant closings happening but it wont be any of these chains because they are well positioned and making money. Bennigans was on the lower end of the casual restaurant market and had to deal with stiff competition from the above noted chains and fewer dollars to be spent eating out. top 10 Chains: McDonalds 56.7 Billion KFC 14.2 BK 12.1 Starbucks 10.3 Subway 10 Pizza Hut 9.3 Wendy's 8.8 Taco Bell 6.5 Dominos 5.1 Dunkin Donuts 5

Whenever I go to the Os game, I always take the light rail from Glen Burnie right to Camden Yards. $3.20 for a round trip ticket only is a good idea because it costs at least $5-10 to park at Camden Yards. Otherwise it comes out about even in terms of the amount of gas Id burn driving all the way into Baltimore and back and it would probably be a bit faster. My 2 days experience with the NYC Subway system and trying to walk around and across streets there on the otherhand had me glad I wasnt trying to drive around in NYC. I still dont have a clue how anyone in their right mind would try to drive around in NYC. Locally the closest thing we have to mass transit is a bus service which runs a spotty schedule and has out of the way stops. Its primarily used by seniors as a way of getting around and I seriously doubt it will be around much longer if its only Seniors that continue to use it the most.

I really hope we play better than we did in those scrimmages come the start of the real season.

After about 70 it kinda loses its fun..

Im really surprised the Orioles didnt make any trades, but then I saw the blurb about Andy MacPhail saying that there will be deals made in August.

This. Gee, it sure seems like the Europeans are better equipped to deal with this gas shortage than we are. On the same note, the gas tax should DEFINITLEY become percentage based, possibly with a bottom cap, because the more expensive gas gets, the less people drive, and the less money we have to fix roads. Which still need the fixing. Plus it would raise the cost of gas, which, as Marvin said, serves my interests. In a few countries over in Europe, the price of an equivalent to 1 gallon of gas is composed of as much as 75% taxes vs 25% for the actual cost of the gas itself. That is where we are headed long term. Right now taxes in the US only make up about 10-20% of the cost depending on local taxes. If NYC can charge $3 a pack tax on cigarettes, they can charge $3 a gallon tax on gas just the same eventually...

Im seriously pissed that I missed Dave "Captain Kirk" Trembley on Regis and Kelly this morning even if he was just in the audience. Regis: "So...what did my boy Mike Mussina do?" Dave Trembley (smiling): "He threw the ball over the plate." HOLY CRAP D-Cab got thrown out for hitting ARod..he didnt hit him intentionally..damnit

I cant believe how well the Os are playing vs the Yankees. 13-4 last night, 6-1 tonight so far in the 7th, with excellent starting pitching from Guthrie and Cabrera. This bats have stayed hot through the slump which was mostly caused by the starting pitching get shelled around. Trembley shook up the rotation sending Liz down and moving Sarfate to the rotation for tomorrow, so maybe its the start of a good turn around here..
