  1. The almighty lord ZOD has graced us with his thoughts on Superman Returns.
  2. Uncanny 475 was good stuff. Especially compared to the utter shit that was Claremont's run that just finished. I like the team they're using and the story concept seems interesting, though I am sick of Marvel's reliance on "super-duper powerful" mutants as the antagonists in stories. But yeah, great first issue. It seems that Brubaker can do no wrong these days.
  3. Not surprised at all about Pirates2 taking the record. I am very surprised at how much it broke the record by (assuming the 132 million number holds up). I mean, that's mind blowing. I expected 'Aquaman' level of record breaking here, not slaughtering the previous holder. It's got pretty hideous reviews though so don't expect anywhere near Titanic. I'm seeing it tonight so hopefully the reviews are just cases of the reviewers being dicks and hating on big summer action blockbusters.
  4. Jesus Christ.
  5. That is some straight up bullshit right there. In fact, no noms at all for The Shield is ludicrous.
  6. Come on let's just end this because we all know where this thread will go: -People will claim all the bands that WP posted suck -A few folks will claim the some shit like Neutral Milk Hotel or some other band you've never heard of are the only genius musicians around to prove that they're smarter than you for knowing who this random indie band are. -Radiohead -Random trashing of Green Day/Nickleback -Making fun of WP on principle -Kayne West -etc. -etc. So can we skip to the last step, which is invariably: -Incandenza gets drunk and starts real-time dictating his thoughts of whatever album he's listening to at the moment.
  7. Yeah you probably have a virus. So what was the link you clicked on?
  8. So were Spacey and Bosworth (on different nights).
  9. Yeah, MAYBE in America, but worldwide the movie would make shit all for returns.
  10. Don't forget Brainiac's gay-black-robot sidekick. And Brainiac fighting polar bears. . I posted it earlier, but I guess you missed it. God that's hillarious. Amazing payoff at the very end of the story.
  11. And Fire. Fire's still around. Of course she seems to have become a government assassin in the new Checkmate books.
  12. http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13350 It's shit like that that makes me think the people who love JJ Abrams are fucking nuts. I swear, I remember the first time I read that script report, if I had run into Abrams on the street or something, I would have kicked him right in the nuts without a second thought. My favorite part of that script review:
  13. I really like the idea that Vince is going to have to deal with being a slave to Aquaman for his career. Good episode tonight, though this season feels alot different from the previous two so far.
  14. I was thinking the same thing, LOL. 116 million for it's opening weekend. Yeah but that was James Cameron guys. And I could see Batman Begins 2 (or whatever they call it) doing numbers up there since the first was so well recieved (and had insane legs at the box office) and this one will have Joker in it
  15. But you thought Batman Begins was better, even though they totally betrayed Batman's character by Batman not helping R'as off the train? R'as would have been too dangerous to leave alive anyway. So? The one thing intrinsically ingrained into the Batman character over 70 years of comics (after they established the character after a few changes in the first year) is that he never ever ever kills anyone. No one is beyond saving, no one deserves to die. They've beat that point into the ground so many times in the comics over the years. So yeah, him letting Ras die was a fundemental 'betrayal' of the character. Personally, I don't care if the movies follow the comic characterizations and stories exactly. I thought Ras death was a good scene and fit very well with the character and tone in the movie. And Batman Begins is my favorite superhero movie. But yeah, it was a betrayal of the comic version.
  16. Well Batman DID originally have the black/grey/blue costume without the oval (till the mid 60s I think). Yeah I dig the Ben Reilly Spider suit (though I could do without the wrist cartridge holders), as long as we're not talking about the Scarlet Spider costume.
  17. So tell me about the IMAX 3-D experience. What parts were in 3-D? Were they any good? I'd have to think that the excellent opening credits sequence would be amazing in 3-D.
  18. According to sales figures, Spider-Man is #1. Stan Lee even says so in the Mutants, Monsters & Marvels bonus DVD from the Spider-Man gift set. Yeah but Stan Lee is the King of outrageous hyperbole that is in no way realistic or anywhere near the truth, so take what he says with a grain of salt. It's kind of his M.O. Plus no one has any clue whatsovever how many comics actually sold back in the 60s and 70s after Spider-Man began. Hell I think a formal system for counting comic sales (like movies and music) was only implemented like 5 years ago. Plus Superman and Batman have a good 30 years of sales before Spider-Man actually came along.
  19. Are you serious? That shit was pretty convincing to me. This one looks quite convincing also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTFMtravl-M...pider%20man%203 That second one is dubious but I think the original that started this thread, the first one I posted and this one all look legit to me. As for getting taken by everything, I'm excited about the movie and saw this thread and have tried to contribute positively to it. It seems my efforts are for nought since rather than generating discussion all anyone can see fit to do is I am sorry I am not as all knowing as so many of you seem to be in regards to all of this, I've tried to supply what I have found, I haven't went to great lengths to try and validate everything I have found to satisfy the cynics here. While I am excited for the film's release, I'm not reading every single thing about it so pardon me. I was just trying to help out and provide some stuff others might not have seen. I may as well not have bothered it seems. Ah well, Next time I'll do you proud, chief, promise. After all, this internet shit is serious business. The one that started this thread (from the Apple web site) actually is the real trailer. All the shots of Venom in the first one you posted look like they're from the Alien movies with some Venom eyes edited on and all the shots of Spiderman/Goblin/Mary Jane stuff were from the other 2 Spiderman movies (with his suit color changed in some cases). There were also shots from other movies in there (I noticed Die Hard, The Mummy, In Good Company). Don't get all defensive just cause people pointed out that they're not real trailers/posters, you didn't do anything wrong or something.
  20. Sure it was contrived but they do the exact same shot in every movie ever that features an airplane going off a cliff. Yeah cause Nic Cage and a fucked up production design that kept none of the stuff that makes Superman what he is would have been better.
  21. Really? The Wolverine thing's pretty lame. I don't know what Marvel's obsession with making all their mutants ultra powerful these days. The Nitro thing's kinda interesting.
  22. Man cameron, you sure do get taken by all the fake stuff that floats around out there. I personally hope that Venom has nothing to do with being alien in any way. I just don't think it would fit too well in the movie series. I do however like the suit being sentient so maybe alien is the only way to go. I like the Ultimate SpiderMan Venom origin, except there wasn't any explanation given for why the suit would be sentient.
  23. Yeah, but it's not a real poster so that point doesn't matter.
  24. ^That's not a real poster. I do think it'll be the lizard however.
  25. I LOVE IT! Alternatavely, James Woods would suffice.
