    Hip hop & NBA

But what does THAT have to do with hip hop? By all accounts Kwame has struggled because he doesn't have the competitive edge and brashness of some other young players. And old school ultra-competative Michael Jordan was the one who drafted him........ I don't see how the NBA going after younger players with potential rather than proof has anything to do with hip hop Hip hop, like rock n' roll or any other fashion or lifestyle, is a reflection of society. Certain aspects of society are ugly or undesireable to some. This is not inclusive to hip hop. Wilbon's pointing the finger in the wrong direction on this one.
  2. I'm kind of pissed off right now....... Womack is the next Lofton, though probably better in the clubhouse. I'm crossing my fingers that he gives us 350 productive at bats and keeps his wheels in working order. We still need an everyday 2B though, so letting Cairo walk isn't making much sense to me. I'm still championing a 2 year deal for Jeff Kent, because this team is built to win now. Which leads me to the pitching staff. Jaret Wright, I can't say whether he's a fluke or not, but he seems to be the kind of guy you take a risk on if you've got a 3-4 year plan, not when you're trying to win before 1/2 the team is eligible for social security. And I'm pissed about Lieber walking. Our best pitcher in the playoffs, a guy we spent a full season just paying him to get healthy, and we discard him. If we sign Milton I will break things.
  3. Well, they just did Brown v. Jarrett on Impact, and with Savage out of the picture now it looks like they really blew what could have been their main-event. Now everyone knows what to expect from JJ v. Brown and they can't possibly get the kind of buy they could have on a first run match. King of the Mountain: JJ v. Brown v. Raven v. DDP v. Abyss v. Jeff Hardy? I can't be the only one who wouldn't give two shits about that match......
  4. Having Hall and Nash dress up as Elvis is fucking brilliant, no sarcasm.
  5. Seriously. The comedy of errors continues.....
  6. You can probably buy an original ECW shirt on E-Bay. Why would anyone want the WWE replicate?
  7. Yeah, which is why in the end I really don't care. They let it happen, it tarnishes the cherished records of the past, move on. He's still out there doing that shit and you can't even pretend like the entire lanscape of the game doesn't dictate it. Everyone is looking for an edge. Honestly, it will always be legalized in some form.
  8. Whenever Heyman has had talent to work with he's succeeded in a booking role, ECW only began to suffer after waves and waves of talent raids from the big two. And he's also shown a talent for turning one-trick ponys and limited performers into likable, marketable characters. The list of guys he did for in ECW is endless. With the talent at his disposal and the resources of the E he could put together the best product we've seen in years if actually given time to implement his ideas and let them blossom. The problem is that he's handcuffed by the comedy writers and hollywood writers that Stephanie is so fucking enamoured with. He's fighting an uphill battle by proposing a professional wrestling oriented booking sheet and not a fucking variety show. Can you really blame him for loosing his cool around those hacks?
  9. I meant of the modern-era Pats, since Bledsoe, Parcells and the uni change, yeah. 85 is too far in the past to have any bearing on this team. Brown, Vinatieri, Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Law and McGinest are all holdovers from that 96 team.
  10. That's why they'll keep a guy like Troy Brown who might have lost a couple steps. He's been with the team on all three super bowl trips, knows the system better than anyone, and is just a total class veteran. I even like the idea of converting him full-time to CB, he's been incredible filling in.
  11. God bless Paul Heyman
  12. F-Rod is very talented, though somewhat of an underachiever IMO. Nice pick up for NY though.
  13. That is what you want to happen but WWE logic produces great matches like Al Wilson & Katie Vick vs Gene Snitsky & John Hendreich and Tough Enough winner vs Bob Holly and Rene Dupree vs Shannon Moore. It's true. The split hasn't done shit for the midcarders. Where is the cruiser division? Where are the tag divisions? It's a fucking joke.
  14. I'd love to hear Hubie on a Memphis game, too bad ABC won't be covering any.
  15. I really used to support TNA back in the day, but I got so sick of the product in the last year and a half that I'm actually hoping they fail at this point, I'd rather see all that talent go back into the water, to ROH, the E, Japan or wherever. They had their chance to really build something for the future and they've slowly blown it, not creating viable stars and pandering to Jarrett, Russo and Rhodes on camera. They've made too many fucking mistakes. don't even watch Impact, it's too depressing.
  16. I looked at the upcoming SD shows and I can't tell who they're trying to debut, but I'm secretly hoping they run a show in Minneapolis and Lesnar shows up. For real though, who's getting the rub off this?
  17. Maybe that means a return for Brock Lesnar! Nice!
  18. I'm sticking by my pick of Cleveland for first rd home court advantage, even stronger now with Indiana's situation. They'll be the 3 or 4 seed. And LeBron is the best player in the East, I tried to tell y'all that........ But anyway, nice how they hyped up LeBron v. Melo as much as possible and Dirk and T-Mac provide us with the Bird v. Nique style shoot out. That was some great ball those two guys played.
  19. Randall Simon, Andruw Jones and Sidney Ponson are from the Netherlands?!?!
  20. We need, need, need a centerfielder. We can get by with out a new secondbaseman Beltran isn't the only CF in the world....
  21. I've always assumed that Giambi got his first taste of roids from his days as Mac's teammate..... There's no secrets with Sheff, he told his story to Sports Illustrated. He claims he went out to Cali in the off-season, I think 01, to train with Bonds when he was rehabbing after knee surgery, and Bonds and the Balco guys gave him the cream and clear, telling him it was just something to help his rehab. He says he used it on his knee and that's it, and that he stopped once the knee was fully healed, not realizing until later that it was a steroid. He cut all ties to Bonds after that. Now, he could be bullshitting, I happen to believe him as he didn't show the signs of someone who was knowingly using steroids to bulk up and change their body type, but either way he has admitted to using the clear/cream for about 6 months.
  22. The problem is the deal with still leave the Yankees with only one reliable reliever, and a rotation of Johnson, Mussina, Brown, Sturtze, and Chien-Ming Wang. This is true, but I wouldn't be done making moves! I'd resign Lieber or sign David Wells and then also aquire Odalis Perez and possibly another starter as insurance for Brown. Sturtze would be in the pen. I'd also bypass Beltran and sign Jeff Kent, and also put some serious cash into the bullpen to replace Gordon and upgrade what we have, Hoffman being the big prize. It's a pipe dream.
  23. CINZIA SCREWED BRET!
  24. Chris Benoit. He carried the world title with class, put on classic matches at the Rumble, Mania and Backlash, and was consistently involved in the "match of the week" for mainstream US wrestling. It seemed like every week he was involved in a ***+ match on RAW.
  25. I'll take Stanton, and I like Gordon, but they need improvement beyond that. I loved the way Sturtze pitched down the stretch last year, depending on his price I'd like to keep him as a long reliever. I was a fan of Quantrill until he lost it last year, so I'm up in the air on whether I trust him or not. If they keep him they'll need to reduce his workload. I'm hopeful that Steve Karsay gets his shit together. I'd like to see us add another lefty along with Stanton and upgrade from Gordon at the #2 spot. If I'm the GM I make an all out push for Trevor Hoffman contingent upon him accepting the setup co-ace role in the pen. It's crucial that they have someone they can rely on to shut it down for an inning or two due to Rivera's age. They can't keep putting him out there 2-3 innings every playoff game. From the NY Times Honestly, I would have agreed to Vazquez, Gordon and Halsey and tried to cut the $ down by 5 mil or so. Johnson is a once in a lifetime pitcher, I can't believe they're going to walk away from a chance to put him in pinstripes. In the end everything the Yankees give up will be inconsequential, especially now that they've soured on Vazquez and have been publically shopping him around. Halsey and Gordon are nice, but they're not going to make or break a championship.
