He knows how to work his Reebok Pumps. Thats about it <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Only because he's in main-event mode. His '02-'03 work disproves this statement. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> this doesn't matter one bit if he stays in "main event mode". He may know how to work, but he can't show it so what good does it do? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Since nobody else seems to understand, I made a shitty lil' graph in Paint right quick: As you can see, as a face's popularity goes UP, his wrestling ability goes DOWN (which leads to the reliance of crowd popping spots). This is more applicable to the brawlers but WWE pretty much sticks to this formula with every main event babyface they've had (for the most part). The problem lies in the booking, not Cena himself.

People tap out to impact finishers now? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> credibility tapped out to the FU years ago. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But The people's elbow & the atomic legdrop somehow didn't?

You could say the same thing about Hogan's legdrop...or Rock's elbow drop. Those are probably two of the most simplest, undevastating finishers in the history of the business & they're both huge stars. I agree that Cena needs a heel turn though, not disagreeing with that. I mean, I enjoy Cena's mic work still, more so than most here, but just looking back at his '03 work...as compared to now...man...I'm probably the biggest Cena mark here & he's slowly starting to wear thin on me too.

OR Daivari can change HIS name & convert to hip-hop. Have Cena dress him up & shit, show him the game, give him some bad bitches, some big blunts, the works.

If there's as much bouncing cleavage in the movie as there are in the games then it's a definite pick-up from the local bootlegger.

The Cena segment was hilarious. I don't care what anyone thinks.

Cena is booed out of the building against HHH

Why is it ok for the Rock to make a homosexual reference & not ok for Cena to make one? -
So you're saying the selling is bad & guys don't stay down long enough like in SDvRaw 1? That sucks... HCTP's selling > all.

Interesting line from the torch

Sadly enough, & judging by most of the posts here, if Cena were to die it'd seem like most people here would celebrate... -
Comments that don't warrant a thread

Man...And I thought GTA:LCS would be the end-all, be-all game to end all the PSP bashing. Guess not...still a great game though. A definite system seller...once the price of the PSP drops first that is. -
The OAO Smackdown! Thread - 11/18/05

Not to sound like an asshole but...Chavo's execution of the three amigos & the frogsplash looked kinda sloppy...he didn't tuck his knees in mid-air like when Eddie does it...And he didn't quite spin his hips like Eddie does during the three suplexes... I still marked the fuck out for the chair spot though. CLASSIC. I hope Chavo gets a big push. -
Back to OVW to re-learn the "grab foot in mid-suplex" spot.

Anybody care to mention how the flow of the matches work in the game now? How the stamina makes it feel? Do they play more realistically now?

Damn, my wrestling memory is real fucked up nowadays. I do remember hearing of a Brahma Bull belt though. I'm guessing it was just a toy replica...?
-
Too bad it was the shitty belt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wasn't on the net at the time Stone Cold brought out the smoking skull belt but I'd sure like to know what you guy's reaction to THAT custom belt was. Why is ok for guys like Austin & Rock to have their own belts but not Cena? But fuck that, it's not important. What matters is that it was a great end to the show.
-
Damn! I hope the chair shot wasn't the cause, i remember seeing that and flinching cause it looked so bad, it hit him really hard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To be honest, I saw that chairshot from Kennedy & it didn't really look all that stiff actually. The stiffest chairshot I've ever seen Eddie take was the one JBL gave him at Judgment Day '04. I STILL flinch everytime I see that shit.

It's ok to cry over a person's death. Your masculinity will be ok.

Please don't turn this into another I-Hate-Vince-McMahon thread. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He (LOTC) actually has somewhat of a point but I'm sure nobody really wants to start throwing blame at anyone yet. The cause of death is still uncertain. This is just a sad, cold day for wrestling. Thank you for all the great memories & matches that have entertained me & many other wrestling fans for years Mr. Guererro. RIP.

When did Eddy ever hold the World Heavyweight title? -
Yea, I remember that...I think it was the '99 rumble...I THINK...

Good point. This is a problem that I've wanted to discuss concerning heel refs or even heel authority figures. If the whole idea is to cheat to win, that opens up a huge slippery slope. Why not DQ the face as soon as the match starts by "seeing" a foreign object, or something else related. Why even try to be fair? Also, something that's bothered me (from a feud standpoint) with the vince vs. austin fued is why drag it out? Why didn't vince just strip the belt from austin. This applies to all authority figures. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would be anti-climatic. Things are dragged out to give the fans a pay-off at the end.

This is like comparing liquid shit from solid shit. In the end, it's all still shit. Cena isn't as bad as the people you mentioned, but he still isn't even average. I mean, Trish Stratus does better worked punches than Cena for God's sake. Cena is over enough to be in the ME, however his in ring is not main event level IMO. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I'm going to have to agree with this. My more markish friends even notice how terrible he does his punching. Honestly, his in ring work needs well...work. The funny thing is that rumour around Mania that had Cena working with Steamboat to improve and it seems that was a complete lie or Cena doesn't learn too well or quick. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With how scripted & controlled WWE is (look at that other thread with the scan of the Raw script posted in it, even the promos are scripted WORD FROM WORD) there are some guys on the roster that, you really wonder what they're truly capable of if they weren't working WWE style matches. Whenever it came to defending Cena I would pimp the HELL out of his debut match against Angle on Smackdown (I REALLY need to find that match somewhere). And it's not just that single match either. Cena's in-ring skills as a whole were better back when he started out on Smackdown than they are now. As time went on & he began to get more over & over it's like WWE told him "Don't worry so much about all the technical crap, just go out there, let the guy kick your ass for a bit, come back, hit your trademark spots & finish the match". What I'm getting at is that there's practically NO plausible reason why Cena's pretty good ring skills from '02-'03 completely dissappeared. Are you all saying he FORGOT how to do all the shit he was doing back then? I highly doubt it. It's just that as he climbed higher & higher up the card and became more popular and started to develop a few crowd pleasing spots, WWE told him to tone it down because it wasn't NEEDED for him to get all technical. He's working WWE main event style matches right now. If/when they finally turn Cena heel again, it'll be interesting to see if his workrate will go back up (due to not being able to rely on his usual spots). I'm betting that it will.
