Zelda can wait until I can get a system without camping out...

It wasn't directly said, ever, it was indirectly implied, and thats the thing. Of course we can never prove that they said that they were working together because they never ever said it. I dunno, I have fair faith in Nintendo, who has done well with the first analog stick as well as the DS. I, generally, don't buy launch systems anyways. And I wouldn't expect that much detail from Wii Sports. Its a hodgepodge of eight (?) games. If such a game was released for the PS3 you wouldn't expect it compete with a focused title...
