The fans have cheered HBK in Toronto. I give you exhibit A when Jericho was attacking Stacy and hbk did the run in to CHEERS. Who would have thought Toronto would cheer HBK over Jericho regardless of the situation. cawthon777, I know about Austin not going over Bret at Survivor Series '96. First of all the writers(more like bookers then) were different. When you look at the situation how could Bret Hart who just signed a 20 year contract return in MSG and JOB to Austin. You kill his return heat right away. What happened however was Austin going over Bret Hart at the Royal Rumble in the match that meant something in terms of a championship or accolade. Hart never beat Austin at WM 13 either because he never quit. Most importantly there was no title on the line for the match. Hart was still possibly the top contender to challenge HBK for the title down the line. The point with having Orton go over in his first try is to perhaps rub it in Triple H's face that he did it in his first attempt, while Triple H had numerous chances and blew it. The story is Triple H/Orton in the long run. I have already said personally I would have booked Orton/Benoit at Survivor Series for multiple of reasons. Benoit was not going to go over Angle at the RR '03 because it was already slated to be Angle/Lesnar just as it's slated supposedly for Orton/HHH for Mania 21.

That is what I was figuring from the comments here. I guess I'llpick it up if I could find it next week here. Why the hell do we take so long to get these releases is beyond me.

Booker T/ John Cena at SummerSlam...
Promoter replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm not sure...I think though Bret Hart once beat HHH and HHH never got a chance to defeat Bret. That's funny as I just watched the Trips/Hart match from raw recently(it was a good raw where DX brought up the curtain call incident and raw is missing that kind of stuff today). Yes, it's true he never went over Hart after that or ever actually. Leave it to Bret to have jobs over guys like Austin and Triple H without them getting it back. Hmmm....add Ric Flair to that list. -
TigerDriver91. Do you remember Eddie Guerrero fluking a win over Brock Lesnar in a tag match before the big title change at No Way Out as well? Not many people thought Eddie would have gone over either. The wwe if they are smart won't have HHH end the show in Toronto for obvious reasons. JBL/Taker could end the show where Taker gets some kind of consolation celebration. As I said before the 1993 Yoko/Luger finish. I still don't put it past the wwe do screw with us Canadians deliberately by having Benoit job in the last match. They know the damn building will piss and moan. Think about Montreal. I still think Edge costing Benoit the title in Toronto might be the finish of the ppv. That would be a strong ending with a strong reaction.

Booker T/ John Cena at SummerSlam...
Promoter replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
Actually it might be Duke The Dumpster Droese, but don't quote me on that Besides he wasn't ever main event material. At least we can say Trips was the only guy in wwf history to lose a hogpen match As for my city helping the re-bith of Hulkamania and HHH dropping the belt I think we should also get credit for crapping all over that dreadful Triple H title win in the "main event" of WM 18. So we did the double whammy! -
I say give us another one here in Toronto
-
If Orton loses to Benoit what would be his reason for getting a rematch? Orton is gonna win folks. He got the battle royale win and the pinfall over Benoit. They obviously want us to buy him as a top contender to buy him going over the champion. Jobbing to Benoit doesn't equal that status. More people would be watching summerslam as well.

I have always been curious how Vince Mcmahon could have done things different when he took over the company in 1982. I've always had it outlined anyways. I got some free time here, so here it goes. I would have moved up the first WrestleMania and put it on FREE television or at least pay tv MTV. I would have used WM instead of the Brawl to Settle it all. The reason I would put this on free tv would be for impact and show the world that there is a new pro wrestling arriving on the scene called sports entertainment. This would also play off the heat of Hogan coming from the AWA and being in Rocky III with Mr. T. March 1984 WrestleMania Madison Square Garden WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title Match Special referee: Muhammad Ali The Iron Sheik vs. "The Incredible" Hulk Hogan with Mr. T Winner: same match as the January 23, 1984 one WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship Title Match "Magnificent" Don Muraco vs. Tito Santana winner: new champion Tito Santana (same kind of match that happened at BG) WWF World Tag Team Title Match The American Express vs. The Destroyers Winner: The Destroyers WWF World Woman's Title Match "Fabulous" Moolah vs. Wendi Richter Winner: Wendi Richter ends the multi-year reign of Moolah "Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka Special referee: Lou Thesz winner: Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka Retirement Match Bruno Sammartino vs. Bob Backlund Winner: Bruno Sammartino $15,000 Bodyslam Match Andre "The Giant" Rousimoff vs. Big John Studd winner: Andre The Giant "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine Winner: Paul Orndorff Junkyard Dog vs. The Executioner Winner: JYD to start up the show --------------------- March 1985 WrestleMania II Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title Match Hulk Hogan vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper winner: Hulk Hogan WWF Intercontinental Title Match Tito Santana vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine Winner: new champion Greg Valentine WWF World Tag Team Title Match American Express vs. Shiek/Volkoff winner: new tag champion Sheik/Volkoff Andre "The Giant" vs. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka Heel turn to give Snuka something worthwhile in 1985 Who wouldn't want to the see the superfly done on Andre? WrestleMania V March 1988 WWF World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Quarter Finals Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant Hogan wins Ted Dibase vs. Muraco as is Bam Bam vs. "Ravishing" Rick Rude winner: Rick Rude Savage vs. Steamboat Savage avenges loss from prior year Semi-Finals Hogan vs. Dibase winner: Dibase Savage vs. Rude winner: Savage Finals Savage vs. Dibase as is WWF Intercontinental Title Match The HTM vs. Ultimate Warrior as SS match went down WWF World Tag Team Title Match Fatal Fourway Demolition vs. The British Bulldogs vs. The Hart Foundation vs. The Islanders winner: Demolition ------------------------------------------ WrestleMania VI April 1989 Toronto SkyDome Yes, I move the event to SkyDome this year WWF World Heavyweight Title Match "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan as is WWF Intercontinental Title Match "Ravishing" Rick Rude vs. Ultimate Warrior as is, then again the slam match was much better Piper returns as a surprise WWF World Tag Team Title Match Demolition vs. The BrainBusters winner: BrainBusters as from snme match Strike Force vs. The Powers of Pain winner: POP with storyline from Busters match Mr. Perfect vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts winner: Perfect Million Dollar Belt Owen Hart vs. Ted Dibase winner: Dibase The Rockers vs. The Rogeaus winner: Rockers Ko Ko B. Ware vs. Red Rooster winner: Rooster in the battle of the birdmen Brutus Beefcake vs. Haku winner: not too fond of this match, but they were over ---------------------------- WrestleMania 7 April 1990 Los Angeles, California 100,000 fans make a record as I believe this is the only match that could have done it. Champion vs. Champion/Title for Title Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior winner: as is WWF World Tag Team Title Triple Threat Hart Foundation vs. Demolition vs. The Rockers winner: Rockers win, but Demo regain titles to lead to match-up with LOD at SummerSlam Retirement Match Andre "The Giant" vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper winner: Andre The Giant I would turn Piper heel and make him go up against Warrior post Mania 6 for the title "Ravishing" Rick Rude vs. "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka winner: Rick Rude Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Ted Dibase winner: as is Tito Santana vs. Bad News Brown winner: Bad News Brown to gear him up to contend against Warrior as well I believe the wwe did not build up strong contenders for Warrior as champ which caused him not to draw as well as Hogan as champion. "The Model" Rick Martel vs. Brutus Beefcake battle of the beefcakes Beefcake was over back then. Mr. Perfect vs. Hercules winner: Mr. Perfect The Orient Express vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and Dino Bravo just something to fill out 9 match card and have Bravo/Duggan as a Can-Am Connection ------------------------------ WrestleMania 8 March/April 1991 HoosierDome WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title Match Ultimate Warrior vs. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan yes, I would turn Hogan heel with something similar to his heel turn in wcw. This way Vince prevents the eventual big turn in 1996 although it's impossible for him to forsee that. Anyways, Hogan turning heel would have been montrous back then. winner: Hogan regains the championship and walks out the first heel to win title at Mania. This would rejuvenate Warrior's popularity and have Hogan fresh. WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight hampionship Title Match Mr. Perfect vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart winner: as slam match later in the year WWF World Tag Team Title Match Demolition vs. Legion Of Doom winner: LOD win straps and later in the year turn heel with the appearance of Ric Flair and Kerry Von Erich in the wwf version of the Four Horsemen in a NWA type invasion. "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. The Undertaker winner: take a guess The British Bulldog vs. Sgt. Slaughter winner: British Bulldog play Britain vs. heel turn American Slaughter The Rockers vs. Haku/Barbarian winner: as is Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "The Model" Rick Martel without the gimmick The Nasty Boys vs. Power and Glory Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich vs. Ted Dibase ------------------------------------- WrestleMania 9 March 1992 The DREAM MATCH "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan Flair enters the wwf in 1991 and runs rampant with an Invasion from the NWA. Hogan who was heel turns back face to save the wwf from the attack of the NWA's greatest champion in Ric Flair. winner: Hulk Hogan defeats Ric Flair and becomes champ for fourth time Ric Flair being the dirtiest player in the game injures Hulk Hogan during the posedown celebration and the championship is held up for grabs for television. This way you keep fans still interested and try to cut the spiral of interest that happened in 1992. This is where Ultimate Warrior does his surprise run-in. WWF Intercontinental Title Match as is WWF Tag Team Title Match LOD vs. Money Inc. as is Slam match "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage storyline would be the same as the one they did for Savage/Flair. winner: Macho Man, but same post match theatrics as Savage/Flair Sid Justice vs. The Undertaker winner: Taker of course it's Mania Tito Santana vs. Papa Shango winner: Papa Shango Owen Hart vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts winner: Owen Hart Tatanka vs. Model Rick Martel winner: Tatanka Natural Disasters vs. Beverly Bros. just stretching now to fill the card winner: who cares? --------------------- WrestleMania X April 1993 Madison Square Garden Best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be match for title Hulk Hogan vs. Bret Hart I know the chances of this were, but damn it this was the match we wanted. winner: Bret Hart wins by SUBMISSION! to end Hulk Hogan era for now. WWF Intercontinental Title Match Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker winner: UT by disqualification WWF World Tag Team Title Match The Steiners vs. Money Inc. winner: Stieners as is Macho Man vs. Razor Ramone storyline would be both men thinking they ooze machismo winner: Macho Man Mr. Perfect vs. Bob Backlund storyline would be Perfect thinking he was the superior athlete or something winner: Perfect Yokozuna vs. Lex Luger winner: Yokozuna Doink The good Clown vs. Doink The evil Clown winner: take your pick Crush vs. Repo Man take your winner Kamala vs. Tito Santana take your winner ------------------ The second decade of WrestleMania will soon be put up. Notice this direction has Bret and Shawn on top as the respective singles champion surpassing somehow Taker and Hogan at the tenth anniversary show. I believe this was a major problem the two had. They did not go over the respective men who made WM in the first decade. Bret and Shawn are the obvious future by this point. However, Bret still had one man to go over and that was Macho. ---------------------------------- WrestleMania 11 March 1994 Birth of the New Generation WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title Match Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage winner: Bret Hart and Savage's last hurrah at Mania Ladder match as is The same final four gimmick Bret vs. Owen Hart Macho Man vs. Lex Luger WWF World Tag Team Title Match The Quebecors vs. The Doinks For all the talk about this Mania being so great I can't even remember the participants or half the damn card. ---------------------------------------- WrestleMania 12 March 1995 WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title Match Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels winner: Shawn Michaels WWF Intercontinental Title Match Razor Ramone vs. Owen Hart WWF Tag Team Title Match Allied Forces vs. Smoking Gunns Diesel/LT vs. Bam Bam Bigelow/123 Kid It gets much harder as the years go by to remember and fill the latter cards This is the main matches I would choose ------------------------------------------ WrestleMania 13 March 1996 Montreal Ironman Rematch Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels This sounds crazy, but what would have been if the Montreal screwjob happened at this event or a work of it? Bret did disappear for the summer and some of the fall. It is the most controversial championship match ever. Imagine Vince pulling that stunt with Bret after a 60 minute match? Woo hooo would it by funny as he would tear up Vince on live tv for sure. WWF I-C Title Match Ahmed Johnson vs. GoldDust winner: Ahmed Interim President Roddy Piper vs. Steve Austin suppose the anti-hero stuff started here? winner: Steve Austin sending Piper packing and then setting his eyes on another wwf legend Jake The Snake. Undertaker vs. Diesel as is Undertaker vs. Triple H same as because it's funny as hell Vader vs. British Bulldog winner: Vader -------------------------------------- WrestleMania 14 March 1997 WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title Match Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin as is Bret had returned to the wwf and his stock had risen from the Montreal screwjob type finish. WWF World Tag Team Title Match Undertaker/Sid vs. LOD Again, the rest of the card and players are pretty weak here. These two matches should help the drawing power though. --------------------------------------------- WM 14 March 1998 pretty much as is ----------------------------- WM 15 March 1999 WWF World Heavyweight Championship The Rock vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin WWF Intercontinental Title Match Triple H vs. Mankind WWF World Tag Team Title Match Jarrett/Owen vs. Hardys The Undertaker vs. Big Show winner: UT Again, I can't even remember the undercard really. ---------------------------------------- WM 16 March 2000 WWF World Heavyweight Championship Actual Backlash main event Actually the whole Backlash card should have been WM 2000 --------------------------------------- WM 17 as is ------------------------------------ Already went through the last few Manias in other threads

I got to agree with this. How come no one has brought up the shoot comments and actions of the Kliq? The best shoot stuff was between Hart and Michaels. That was PLATINUM stuff. HBK to Bret Hart post WM 13 with comments such as.... "You are a MARKED man. In your mind you believe all this is yours(the ring) and that it is your God given right." Bret Hart on HBK at Final Four "It's too bad HBK had to forfeit the title because of his "knee injury" (with Bret fingers doing the quote sign". HBK at WM 13 doing the Kliq sign for Hall and Nash and Syxx. HBK on Bret Hart just before KOR 97: "Bret we all know you've been having some Sunny days". Steve Austin on Bret Hart after RR 97 "All you do Bret is whine" Eric Bischoff after the Montreal screwjob "Someone's feeling a little punchy tonight"
-
So, is Benoit's DVD better than Hogan and Flair's? Those two I felt were some true career retrospectives and worth the money. I'm still deciding on the Foley DVD, but Benoit's looks really good from your guys posts.
-
The guy does have some sources as he does say things that the net gets afterward, BUT the wrestlers and staff WORK this guy. I admit he called stuff like Austin reffing the Goldberg/Lesnar match way before the net was predicting it. The same with Benoit winning the Rumble. Here is a list of things that he has said since March. -The wwe in the box seats of MSG told him that Bret Hart had inked a deal and would be apart of the Backlash ppv. -Christian and Jericho's feud would end up being Christian being in love with Jericho and that is why he got into the mix over Jericho/Trish. Christian was suppose to discovered to be gay and then team with Rico(could be true since Rico did get a tag team after Mania). Trish alledgedly told him this and could have just been pulling his leg. These are the two biggest blunders this year I've heard from this geek.
-
Does that mean HBK and HHH are gonna have another gimmick match to main event the card?
-
I guess they wanted something as graphic as wcw's Uncensored ppv name. We know how uncensored that was. So, I guess sometime we got to expect a friday night ppv for smackdown to copy the forumla of hyping the ppv on the main show the night before the ppv. What will they call that? Friday Night Fight. They did get monster ratings on NBC back in the day for friday nights. Of course, that was only 1 hour from 8-9 and didn't disrupt their target market from going out later in the night.
-
That was quick and much better than the crap name they came up with.
-
The wwe is trying an experiment where they hype the ppv the night before on monday with raw. I think the name is terrible myself.

I just wanted to see people's different viewpoints on wrestling. List anyone who you feel are over and under rated with reasons why. Just to start with a short example. Under-rated Hulk Hogan: Yes, I believe Hulk Hogan of the 80's is under rated. He made his challengers look like they were capable of defeating him. He made his matches really seem like world championship matches because he was larger than life. Hogan has been castrated by the IWC for being a superhero type figure that brought the cartoonish nature to pro wrestling. However, Hulk Hogan from 198-1988 was pure gold. Ted Dibase: Yes, I put this man on the short list because believe it or not I think he was the wwe version of Ric Flair in the 80's. He made every opponent look good and had one of the greatest heel characters of all-time. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper: To me, this guy had the foul mouth gig like Austin down pat, yet he doesn't really get his just due because he turned into a crazy old man. He was absolute bullet proof up until 1989 with his wwf return. Randy Savage of the 80's. A great mic man and wrestler who could get good matches out of has beens like George Steele and Dusty Rhodes and work out something with the likes of Ultimate Warrior(who I also think is under-rated from a character standpoint by some when looking at things as sports entertainment from 88-90). Over rated Hulk Hogan: Yes, the Hogan from 1990-1996 is way over-rated, but he played off his dwindling skills by being a heel who proclaimed to be the "god of wrestling" and it worked to pump life back into his career. However, he was getting the Hogan sucks chants for a reason. Ric Flair: The same will have to be said about this guy. He was truly gold up until 1989-1990, but started to dwindle. I don't get what people say about Flair being able to carry any wrestler to a 3 star match in the 90's. His wwf work left a little to be desired after WM 8. The day that the true great Ric Flair died was the night he beat Vader for the title in 1993. He's been over-rated since. This is not to be confused with being good because he had been post Vader match, but not anything close to what people made/make him out to be. I laugh when I see people still stating Flair can have 5 star matches and work with a broom stick at this stage Chris Jericho: I think Jericho is over-rated by the net. He is solid, but to me he isn't world championship material as some people out to make him. I know about the bad booking and all, but I still think he lacks certain elements which people credit him for having.
-
Huh? Who's Annie Sullivan and what's with the PC bullshit thing?
-
Don't also forget he stole "Pac" from Tupac for his street cred.
-
To cause controversy and get more viewers for Wrestlemania. Which was my point about having the worked shoot of Bruno, Hogan, and Hart with Flair instigating it. Flair of NWA fame ripping on wwf legends and using that as the "in" to make them return is publicity. Vince siding with Hogan over Flair by shaking hands is another story that can be told. The ceremony itself wouldn't have any worked elements.
-
Bret Hart inducted by Shawn Michaels? Now that is just asking for storyline now isn't it? Would be damn funny though. For those who saw the Slammys of 1996 would understand how it can go down. HBK took potshots at Bret. In 1997, he went some more with jumping off the stage with his "injured knee". I can't imagine seeing what kind of thing would happen about Montreal between the two. bigm, the prestigious honour would be in the fans debate of who should be going into the hall of fame. The HOF is only as good as the people see it. Right now, it is kind of a joke for obvious reasons with Pete Rose entered. Look how the responses have been about there shouldn't be any storylines and that men like Bruno and Hart wouldn't be apart of that. Bruno and Hart are seen as more serious pro wrestlers, while someone like Hogan doing the storyline would be respresenting the era of where storylines took over. It doesn't take away from the inductees, but adds to them and their representation and impact on the industry. Hart and Bruno not being apart of the storyline would be a storyline in itself because they would take the HOF as something that should be serious. They bring something to the table to get the joke off of it from Pete Rose being inducted. It's said Bob Backlund was asked to be apart of this year's ceremonies, but declined because Pete Rose was entered. If they made this into a side storyline and had Backlund enter the HOF next year it would have fans of Backlund think it's a change in the HOF to something serious because he accepted the award if that makes any sense. It's just a work to get people to buy the HOF which is what I think getting Hogan, Bruno, and Hart would do in spades. Hell, remember this whole business is a work and the wwe had to build up the titles to have people actually care and take it as something serious. They "worked" the titles to get people to accept them as achievements and serious plot devices. They would have to do the same with the HOF because a lot of people know it is a joke and is whatever Vince wants it to be. People like Bruno have made this public. Now use that and bring Bruno in. Bruno accepting it would help elevate the credibility. Adding Bret Hart who fell out of favour big time like none other also helps it. Everything is a work, but for the greater good.
-
Corey_Lazarus when Kane was unmasked they had some kind of make-up and soot around Kane's eye along with some of his hair all frizzled. What was that about then if it was all psychological? Where did his hair go the following week? How did he have those psychological scars unless someone put it there? Nah, I get what you're saying, but the wwe still copped out. Let's not even get into Kane not even acknowledging his father died on live television right after a smackdown rebound segment that segued into an interview Kane is just the bastard of the wwe next to Big Show. So who had the worst championship storyline? "You're a murderer Kane" or "Yo, Mama said ya a bastard"
-
Why would they put Pete Rose in the WWE HOF "celebrity wing"? Look how Bret/Flair has internet folk talking. Bring that into the mainstream Mania time. You got Bruno doing a work about how it was in the old days. Hogan claiming he made WrestleMania what it is today. You create drama for the HOF and make people think it's actually a big deal with these men going back and forth about who deserves the right to enter. This year the hook for the HOF was Pete Rose. Next year if possible I bet Vince Mcmahon would like to have Hogan, Hart, and Bruno get in at the same time. Ric Flair is the only guy on the active roster who can REALLY talk the talk with these men. He links them to the new and current product. There doesn't have to be a match with these men.
-
You might have explained why the wwe might have done this. It was wearing thin and perhaps Trips is holding off getting the title back so soon and suggested this direction for the belt. You have a point about this possibly tanking before Survivor Series, but maybe the wwe feels experimenting now is better than closer to Mania. Although, if they wanted to turn this guy face why wouldn't they just put the strap on HHH and have Orton do the Rumble/Mania chase. That might have been even more boring and predictable to even the densest fan and maybe that is why they are doing this reversal thing with Orton getting the belt. Personally, I don't think Orton/HHH is really a WrestleMania 21 main event yet. I also think the casuals aren't going to care that much about this whole thing. The story telling better be very compelling because I don't believe anyone feels Orton is at Triple H's level. Maybe that is the reason for Orton getting a long reign. More I think about it maybe Benoit should just hold the damn belt til at least Survivor Series as I previously believed.
-
With that same report of Bruno being at raw there was a footnote about Bruno wanting to see Flair about his comments in his book. Flair took off apparently before Bruno could speak to him. The Flair sympathizers say he had to do a talk show in LA and had to leave right away. Flair also keeps saying that Hogan should have been at this year's ceremony and he shouldn't always leave Vince laying on his back in terms of asking price. Flair as we know attacks Bret Hart. Maybe, just maybe there is more to this than we think(again my conspiracy mind loves to drum things up). Ric Flair of NWA fame is attacking Hogan, Hart, and Bruno(in the top 5 greatest champs of the wwf for sure). Hopefully, this all works out and we get a killer HOF storyline for WM 21 which was lacking from this year's event(I don't call the Brain and Mean Gene having orgies with Moolah and Mae Young interesting).
-
Is that Hulk Hogan in the background of that picture? Damn, he can't ever let Macho get the spotlight alone. Talk about a camera hog More proof Hulk sent Macho into the looney bin with "Be a Man"
