  1. Rickey Henderson is the greatest leadoff hitter to ever play the game and probably one of the 25 best overall. There is no reason to leave him off the ballot. This retarded holier-than-thou sportswriter complex about unanimous selections is one of the most embarrassing things in sports. As I stated in the other thread, Blyleven and Raines should be no-brainers. I still support McGwire and would probably be in favor of Dawson and Trammell as well. Jim Rice is not a HOF guy. The fact that he's in and Mo Vaughn gets 1.1% is shocking. Look at their numbers sometime... there's not much difference. But somehow because Rice was "feared" for three years, he's in.
  2. The Sox fan in me should be happy that Rice made it, but I don't think he's a HOF-caliber player. Blyleven and Raines deserve it a hell of a lot more. Henderson's speech will be amazing.
  3. I have no idea. It was somebody here.
  4. When the Cardinals announced in the offseason that they were going with Warner at QB someone on this forum argued that it was ridiculous to not give Leinart a shot because this team had no hope of actually making the playoffs. This was a fairly common theme in the media as well. A few months later and they are four quarters from being in the Super Bowl. The NFL... yeah.
  5. It deserves the slurping. Best show on television, hands down.
  6. Venkman - Holy shit, I just perused the board and realized we actually had a WWE folder again. I'm not sure when or how it happened, but it's obviously Venkman's hard work that is behind it. Yes, Slayer is a funny guy and a TSM legend, but if we are having this tourney to reward some sort of boarding excellence (whatever the fuck that means), then I don't know how you can go against the good doctor. Kinetic - It seems like some people are starting to vote against Kinetic because he has so much momentum and that Milky '08 "no one's beating him" vibe, but I'm not. Kinetic, in this boarder's opinion, was the best thing we had last year and I'm not going to change that opinion just because everyone else is sucking his dick, too. Agent of Oblivion - Last round I gave KOAB his due and recognized that he has grown on me as a poster. I should mention that Agent has as well. He was one of those established guys that existed off the radar for me, but the way he made EHME squeal like a pig was a thing of beauty. The man also puts a ton of effort into the NFL threads each week. I'm not sure I'd be having a beer with the guy at TSM Tavern, but that's not what we are voting on here. VX - At some point in the next year I am going to break my policy of not revealing anything overly personal to TSM and will go have a beer with VX. The guy is just a phenomenal poster and his interests seem to dovetail with mine on a shockingly high number of issues. He's been carrying the food folder on his back for a while now and it's time to recognize that feat.
  7. So, I've just returned from a week long hiatus south of the border. It was really sad for me to miss the majority of this tourney (my favorite part of the year), but that's the reality of adulthood sometimes. You should have seen the look of contempt on Mrs. Tremendous' face as I attempted to log on to TSM from my Blackberry in rural fucking Mexico. Boarding hard, right? I appreciate those who have pushed me through this far. Brooklyn Zoo and Byron are both tremendous posters (pun intended?) and I would have felt fine losing to either. But now I get Slayer... shit. Fun while it lasted, I guess. Anyways, enough blabbering. On with my votes. Venkman - At this point, we are left with good posters, but this was an easy call for me. No slight to Inc, but Venk and I have been tight for a long time now. I love what he's done with the upper half of the board, picking up the shattered pieces Dandy and I left behind. He even made me stay away from the "WWE Folder Sucks Dick" thread. Cheech - Honestly, Slayer's better than me. I can admit that. But hey, I do have a policy of shying away from those who have won before and I shouldn't stray from that policy just because I'm involved. I also haven't gotten to enjoy the novelty of making it this far. Kinetic - CC is solid all around the board and I especially love his stuff in Sports. But this is Kinetic's year and we are all just witnesses. I can barely make it though a Kinetic post without laughing or smirking and there are few posters who I can say that about. Mellow - I just loved what Mellows did this year. Go back 12 months and I might not have had a single opinion about him, but he was just everywhere this year. The turtle kid avatar was great. KOAB- Tough call, but I KOAB has sort of won my heart the last few months. I'll admit that at one time I found his schtick a little tiring, but now I find it endearing. Kamala - Not a slight to Agent here, but Kamala's my boy. He makes the General Wrestling folder worth reading and that's saying a fucking lot given my feelings about wrestling these days. Treble- Another one where I could have gone either way depending on how I felt at the time. I gave Treble the tiebreaker because of the tie comment, which is now a part of board lore. VX- Wow, these are like two of my top five right here. Both great guys, but VX is just a wonderful poster and I have so much in common with him. Plus, we have that whole P-town connection. I'd love to see him win the damn thing.
  8. So I've been in Mexico for the past 7 days with no internet access. Is this round still going? I need like a few hours to read up on where we are. If not, I'll just catch up in the round of 16. EDIT: Got it now.
  9. 27,000 Marvin posts and we're still waiting for a good one.
  10. Dude, I think you met Dandy.
  11. The JewZA. Method Mench? Raekwon the Kosher Chef?
  12. That OSU-Pitt game was an abomination. I want those three hours back.
  13. I'd wish for Bob's death, but then who would take the ring to Mordor?
  14. This brought me more enjoyment than all of Marney's posts combined. Yep. I wish that I didn't like CBright or else I'd make fun of him every chance I got for posting that picture in the Heath Ledger thread. That was one of the all-time "man am I embarrassed that I post at TSM" moments.
  15. Has anyone ever explained why the '88-'98 WWF title is called the Winged Eagle title? Do we need to distinguish it from the eagle title without wings? Not to mention that every single WWF belt from the '80s and '90s had an eagle with its wings spread. The nickname makes no sense.
  16. The Cubs signed Aaron Miles today. From what I can gather, they are now going to trade DeRosa to the Indians for a couple of pitching prospects. Those prospects would then be used to get them back in on a possible Jake Peavy trade. I've also heard that Milton Bradley is signed. Can't find a credible source to corroborate that though.
  17. I'm banking on less than 24 hours. I guess we'll see. By the way, I didn't really know Marney at all, but you never want to see someone die young. Seems like a lot of posters like her, so it's definitely a sad day for TSM.
  18. Say it ain't so
  19. I heard you ran him off.
  20. Marlins shouldn't make any deal. First of all, they don't need to. He's under contract for a reasonable figure the next few years, not to mention that he is the face of the entire franchise. It would be too much to deal him now. However, if Theo is willing to give you the world, maybe you listen. If Ellsbury/Buchholz is suddenly sweetened with something out of the Masterson/Bowden/Lars/Lowrie group, it might behoove him to do something. Hanley is nice; a World Series ring is nicer.
  21. Red Sox trying to re-acquire Hanley Ramirez Article indicates that they've offered Ellsbury and Buchholz, but Florida's not biting (I don't blame them). Speculation is that they'd move him to centerfield if a deal went through. That makes sense given his defensive shortcomings. Wonder if they can hash out any sort of deal here. I'm not one of those fans that thinks every great player should end up on the Sox, but I am glad that Theo's willing to be creative to upgrade this team.
  22. Those blintzes were terrible.
  23. I would have preferred John Smoltz, but I can live with Brad Penny. He was terrible last year and there are a lot of red flags, but I know the Sox have been doing their due diligence on him all offseason. He must be in okay shape to offer that sort of contract.
  24. Josh Bard is reportedly on his way back to Boston, agreeing in principle to a one-year contract for $1.6 million. Bard, if you remember, had a cup of coffee with Boston in 2006 before being dumped unceremoniously for his inability to catch a knuckleball. That led to the infamous police escort that ushered in the second Doug Mirabelli era.
