  1. You do know that both of those movies are based on books that came out well before The Sixth Sense, right?
  2. The new Black Dice album (Load Blown) is pretty great if you're into that sort of thing. I don't think I'd call it album of the year or anything since I doubt it's going to have any sort of lasting impact, but it's an enjoyable listen nonetheless.
  3. Why are so many people super proud of the fact that they're completely out of touch with contemporary pop music? Yeah, there's a lot of terrible, terrible shit on the radio, but there's some really good stuff too.
  4. The best summation of what makes "All My Friends" so unbearably great was written on cokemachineglow way back in January when the song first leaked
  5. That song would be my favorite of the year if Pimp C doesn't drag it down with his pointless bars. Pimp's verse is miles better than that weak shit Big Boi spits at the end.
  6. Your friends look like total fagmos.
  7. That can be surmised by looking at that picture.
  8. It reads better when rendered in verse: Now go to your room Little boy half my age Come back when The world around you Suddenly occurs
  9. Oh I forgot about Gym Class Heroes' cover of "Good Vibrations." That's definitely the worst song of the year. I refuse to even consider arguments to the contrary.
  10. Fuck all y'all, Soulja Boy is awesome. As for worst song of the year, it's no contest. The Dream - "Shawty is a Ten". Truly god-awful shit.
  11. Here's a nice photo gallery of what the feds confiscated. It looks like he was tooling up for Armageddon or some shit.
  12. I do. Once you get used to Grandma Furnace's voice it's really pretty good. "Slavin' Away" is one of their very best songs.

  14. That's really a perfect description of Sufjan Stevens's recorded output as a whole, though I'd throw "insufferable" in there too.
  15. I basically feel the exact same way. 2005 was a weird year in that there was quite a few good-to-really good albums but pretty much nothing that screamed "Best of the Year." The Runners Four, Arular, Late Registration and LCD Soundsystem were all pretty solid contenders for second best, but not one of them really stands out as some kind of super-great all-time classic. On the other hand, 2004 and 2006 both produced two albums each that I'd consider among the 10 best of the 00s (Blueberry Boat and Cam'ron's Purple Haze for '04; Hell Hath No Fury and Ys for '06).
  16. Half-way through my first listen and I'm just about ready to give the title to Widow City. I love The Fiery Furnaces.
  17. Clipse haven't released anything new since last November. Hell Hath No Fury is, however, leaps and bounds better than any album I've heard this year.
  18. I really like "I Will." Granted, it's not much of a song on its own, but it's pretty and it works nicely as a quiet breather between "There There" and "A Punch Up at a Wedding." The transition into the latter is one of my favorite moments on the album. "The Gloaming" seems to serve a similar structural purpose, in that it effectively separates the first and second halves of the album. It's sort of like "Treefingers," except more irritating.
  19. So bands other than Coldplay have used "melodic, chiming guitar chords" in their music before. Okay. But "Arpeggio" and "All I Need" don't sound like those other bands, they sound like Coldplay. Also, this whole thing caused me to go back and listen to Hail to the Thief for the first time in like 2 years. I'd forgotten how good the back-end of that album actually is. The run from "There There" to the "A Wolf at the Door" is easily as good as anything else they've done. Too bad the first half had to be so full of stinkers.
  20. Yeah, I wasn't including you in my "you people are retarded" comment. Fucking what the hell, Coldplay? If you can't hear strains of Coldplay in "Arpeggi" and "All I Need" you must be deaf. Now, it's not as prevalent as I made it sound last night (eg songs like "15 Step" and "Videotape" obviously don't sound anything like Coldplay) but it's there. Anyway, after giving this a few more listens I like it more than I initially did. I'll even go so far as to agree with the "it's their best since Kid A" sentiment that seems to be so popular in this thread.
  21. A lot of stuff on here sort of sounds like what would happen if Coldplay started taking their cues from Amnesiac instead of The Bends. I'm not impressed. Really, at this point I'm not even sure if it's better than the truly mediocre Hail to the Thief, which at least had "A Wolf at the Door" and "There There." Also Thom Yorke singing "I don't wanna be your friend/I just wanna be your lover" is straight up embarrassing.
  22. What the heck is a death class?
  23. I'd like to hear this but the stupid website is being all slow and unresponsive. Anyone want to hook a brother up with a sendspace link?
  24. It's brilliant rap criticism written in the form of fake(??) e-mails to Jay-Z.
