That's all well and good but do we want the US to be a country that locks up American soup kitchen workers for not turning away starving undocumented people?

CBS renews 14 series for 2006-07
Celtic Guardian replied to Celtic Guardian's topic in Television & Film
And just to tick me off of course, CBS changed its press release so that Amazing Race was only picked up for one new edition (#10) with the fate of any eventual #11 yet to be determined. -
CBS renews 14 series for 2006-07
Celtic Guardian replied to Celtic Guardian's topic in Television & Film
There's not much left among already existing shows... 48 Hours Out of Practice Close to Home Courting Alex Still Standing The King of Queens Yes, Dear CBS Sunday Movie The top four shows in the list are probably on the bubble, the latter ones will probably be cancelled. There's obviously no way to know yet about shows like The Unit (starting tonight) or the upcoming Julia Louis-Dreyfus sitcom. -
CBS renewed the following today for the 2006-07 season: Criminal Minds Ghost Whisperer How I Met Your Mother 60 Minutes The Amazing Race (10, 11) Cold Case CSI: Crime Scene Investigation CSI: Miami CSI: NY NCIS NUMB3RS Survivor (13, 14) Two and a Half Men Without a Trace Official CBS press release via The Futon Critic. I think as of tonight, George Mason or Hofstra/UNCW are going to be interchangable as to who in this group of 3 gets left out. However with GM, they would be the first team with an RPI in the Top 30, should their numbers even out as such to be left out of the tournament. Needless to say, I think the scenario that everyone is fearing is going to come to pass. Someone who is very deserving is going to get screwed. The comittee is going to be extremely tested in the next week. Lets hope it does the right thing. One more factor, Mason star player Tony Skinn has been suspended for the first postseason game after punching Hofstra's Loren Stokes down there. The absence of Skinn will no doubt be taken into account by the NCAA selection committee and significantly hurt the Patriots' chances of getting into the dance.

I doubt USA Network would go along with that idea, it would undermine the Thursday airing.

NBC officially announced the hiring of Al Michaels to team with John Madden on Sunday nights. Michaels' network debut is in August so no Olympics for him this year.
-
Al Michaels wanted to be kicked to the curb so he could join Madden on NBC. ESPN could have enforced its contract with Michaels but decided to let him go.

You seem to be right. PWInsider.com has a fragmentary report of its own up now. MNM interfered in a beatdown scenario so Henry didn't actually get pinned.

Some Smackdown Spoilers from ProWrestling.com are below the preview paragraph. Hopefully, some clearer spoilers will come along but this report is the only one that seems to be available thus far. Thanks to reader Adam Parker for sending in the following report:

The encore viewership won't be as large without the Monday spillover but it will obviously be a more meaningful audience for promoting the TNA pay-per-views.

"The Office" will end its current season at least before "TNA Impact" becomes competition. Can't help with the others, sorry.

Spike TV exec Kevin Kay confirmed to Multichannel News that the slot will be Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET (not 8) beginning April 13.
-
Of course, that extra half hour would put TNA up against "My Name is Earl." 8 to 9:30 would also be the same time slot as the competition night of "Dancing With the Stars" although the current Dancing run could be over by the time TNA gets moved.

The State of the Union, 2006 edition.

It was an anti-war T-shirt as it turned out. That constituted a demonstration which is against Capitol rules inside the chamber, regardless of message. -
Well then...go Sting. Kinda makes one wish TNA hadn't booked Sting to "disappear" again, doesn't it. <still shaking head at that>

TVWeek reports that "The Boondocks" has been renewed for a second season on Adult Swim.

Can't it just replace The Office at 9:30? Entertainment Weekly had an article that mentioned NBC will lose a shitload of money if they don't air those last episodes of Joey. That's how the contract is setup for some reason. Presumably, NBC has finally concluded that "Joey" is a failed series. As such, it won't be placed on the network's most important night to lose the "My Name is Earl" audience. If the episodes need to be aired, I suppose that they can air during the summer or on a low viewership night like Saturday where they can do less harm to the rest of the lineup.

It was a Styles' clash.

Carrying a gun to virtually any establishment in Virginia is A-OK. Actually pointing it at people is over the line though.

He's going professional. From the Virginian-Pilot: Vick's attitude seems way too casual under these circumstances.
