  1. Heard today that Billy Murray refused to be in the Charlie's Angels sequel if Lucy Liu was in the movie. The two reportedly couldn't stand each other on the set of the first movie and were constantly bickering. Does anyone know the story behind this? I thought he couldn't get along with any of the girls, but I guess it was just Liu. Anyone know the story?
  2. Bobby Valentine talking about Grant Roberts being caught smoking pot in 2002.
  3. I've had SEVERAL people who used to watch wrestling say this to me. My mother and father watched a little in the 80s and early 90s and when they see today's product, they always say "Jesus, they sure do talk a lot more than they used to" My mother once said "Are you sure this wrestling anymore, all they are doing is talking and talking" I've had friends who loved wrestling when we were in school, that were diehards like myself, and they always say "They talk too much" I don't think this turns away fans that started watching in the Attitude era, because they were used to all the talking. But for the fans who have watched since the 80s (even though the matches were mostly bad then), it definitely is a turn off.
  4. My ABC affiliate is showing Wisconsin/Minnesota and it's 28-0 Wisconsin with 11 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. Can't they leave this game and put on Oklahoma/A & M? Jesus, I hate getting big ten games every week in my market.
  5. This was all Brian Gewirtz's idea, again from Scherer: "For the record, the idea to put Kurt Angle in “shoot” situations on Smackdown last week came from Raw writer Brian Gewirtz. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised."
  6. Speaking of Leiter, he is officially a Free agent: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/nym...s_nym&fext=.jsp
  7. from PWI: "As you would expect, Kurt Angle was less than happy backstage at Smackdown after almost being forced to tap out to Tough Enough contestant Daniel Puder. Downright ticked off would probably be the best way to describe his mood. The unscripted nature of the contest was the main reason that Angle was made to look so bad since Puder just reacted to the situation and could have forced Angle to submit had the referees not thought quickly and counted a pin that wasn’t there on Puder. While there are some workers in the locker room who haven't exactly been fans of Angle's politics backstage of late, the general feeling was that the company is putting the workers in bad situations by having them in "shoot" scenarios, especially given the segments over the last two weeks with Angle and The Big Show. The phrase "the business is a work for a reason" has been repeated to me a lot over the last few days"
  8. From 1wrestling: "1Wrestling.com has learned that Stephanie McMahon has fired one of the Smackdown writers. Dan Madigan, who was responsible for the aborted Hirohito idea, was fired on Friday. According to friends of Madigan, he was fired for not being a suckup, for not staying in touch with the office while attending his father-in-law's funeral, and for sending creative ideas directly to Vince McMahon and not to Stephanie or the other writers. Other sources say he was not well liked and that Smackdown will be better off without him. Those sources point to the Hirohito idea that had originally called for a series of main event matches with Chris Benoit for the title on RAW. Madigan was also responsible for the Mordecai storyline and was the writer who sold Vince McMahon on the idea for the "Eye Scream" movie for Kane." - Madigan also wanted to turn Booker T into a voodoo man gimmick I believe. Probably a good move.
  9. Stephanie joined the writing team in Sept. 2000 as just another member but had complete control starting at Survivor Series 2000
  10. Al, as always I defer to your baseball knowledge, is this a good move for the Mets?
  11. ah, beat me to it, DerangedHermit! Anyway, I like the move, Willie has been pegged as a future manager for years, hopefully his "winning attitude" comes over to Shea. Now he needs some players, that can, ya know, actually hit.
  12. John Saunders giving the Lakers verbal blowjobs, "they will make the playoffs", "Kobe is the best player in the NBA". Greg Anthony and Legler basically had to apologize for daring to say they don't think the Lakers will make the playoffs.
  13. Knicks lose to Minnesota. Same old Knicks here. Get off to a really hot start in the 1st quarter hitting long jumper after long jumper. Then the 2nd stringers come in the 2nd quarter and do nothing and let the other team back in the game. Same old crap, those long jumpers never seem to go down in the second half and the other team pulls away. They are a jump shooting team in the end, and if the shots don't fall, they lose. It's sickening watching other teams post up and get easy shots while the Knicks take these ridiculous falling away jumpers with 3 guys in their face. I know it's the first game and all, but it's the same old, same old.
  14. ABC gives Colorado to Bush, 246-195
  15. lakers are destroying the Nuggets, and denver is making Chris Mihm look like Bill Walton in his prime
  16. I wonder if Torrie's "sex test" will be her totally smashed talking about blowjobs and lesbian sex like at Girls Gone Wild? I hate that they are getting cute with TE, it sucks that it has to be on SD and not separate.
  17. so it's Eddy, RVD, Big Show, and ? v Angle, Jindrak, Luther, and Carlito What face replaces Rey? Cena? (if he returns in time) Haas?
  18. Mets decline their option on Richard Hidalgo. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=hida...ov=st&type=lgns
  19. From Meltzer's update today: They will likely announce HHH & Ric Flair & Batista & ? (Edge?) vs. Chris Benoit & Randy Orton & Maven & Chris Jericho in some sort of a gimmick match as the main event at Survivor Series tonight. We've read speculation of a War Games match, which would be a first in WWE.
  20. Agreed, but this has ALWAYS been a knock against Sosa. Since he became a star, what he said went. He used his captain status, not as a method of mentoring and leading others, but for getting his way. He's always had problems with whomever the manager of the Cubs have been. That's why I say he needs to go, too. Baker going would be great, but as long as Sosa's around, there's always going to be this power struggle going on, since he believes that his broken English is gospel. He'd fit in just great with the Mets with politicians like Al Leiter, Tom Glavine, and John Franco, who got their buddies (Joe McEwing, Todd Zeile,) cushy deals. The only reason Joe McEwing is still employed in the major leagues is because he is close friends with Al Leiter and John Franco, THE ONLY REASON. Can Sosa top that? Hell, he'd be about as upity as John Olerud on this Met squad.

    NFL Week 8

Patrick shilling a mike Ditka interview big time, who cares, seriously? ESPN is grasping for straws. How many sideline reports have they done with Suzy Kolber? Hey, look at the pretty girl!, don't worry who's playing in the game It's obvious they are trying to distract the audience from the fact there are two 1-5 teams playing.
  22. It's all about $$$, Wilpon trying to fill the ballpark
