  1. So does this one.
  2. AP is reporting it's official. He's done.
  3. Bollinger NEW YORK (AP) -- Jets quarterback Chad Pennington will miss the rest of the season because of a torn right rotator cuff, The Associated Press learned Monday night. Pennington's injury was confirmed by a person with knowledge of his condition, but who declined to be identified because the team had not made an official announcement. An MRI exam showed Pennington tore his rotator cuff in Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to Jacksonville. The NFL Network originally reported the injury, the second time Pennington has had this tear in less than a year. Pennington was expected to visit noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Tuesday. Backup Jay Fiedler also damaged his shoulder Sunday and will be sidelined, leaving third-stringer Brooks Bollinger to play quarterback against Baltimore this weekend. Last season, Pennington missed three games with the same injury and had offseason surgery to repair it. He was sacked on consecutive plays during the Jets' first series of the second half against Jacksonville. On third-and-11, Pennington was taken down by Bobby McCray and fumbled for the second straight down and recovered the ball, but his shoulder was injured on the play. Fiedler came in, but was hit while completing a 16-yard pass to Justin McCareins -- his sixth play in place of Pennington -- and hurt his shoulder. Pennington came back to lead the Jets (1-2) on two scoring drives, both capped by field goals, but clearly was hurting and said after the game that the injury felt ``similar to last year.'' ``It's frustrating and demoralizing,'' Pennington said. ``I worked really hard to get back to playing, putting in all the extra hours in over time, and trying to come back to be out there on the field. When something like that happens, it really tests you. It tests your willpower, your mind and your confidence.'' Despite the injury, Edwards thought he and Pennington had made the right call by letting him back in against the Jaguars instead of going with Bollinger -- though the play calling was limited by Pennington not being able to throw long. ``He gave us the best chance to do what we needed to do to win the game,'' Edwards said. ``I had reservations, but he was able to go in and do some things.'' Pennington also had a major injury in 2003, when he broke his left wrist in a preseason game and missed six regular-season games. Fiedler was acquired this season to give Pennington an experienced backup and he shared much of the preseason work. A downcast Fiedler indicated after the game that he was fearing the worst. ``I kind of landed with my arm above my shoulder and I felt something go,'' he said Sunday. ``I knew I wasn't going to be able to throw a football.'' Bollinger is confident he can shoulder the task. Bollinger, in his third season with the Jets out of Wisconsin, has appeared in just one NFL game, last year against Arizona. He replaced an injured Quincy Carter in the Jets' 13-3 win and was 5-of-9 for 60 yards. ``I'm just going out to try and execute the plays that they call with knowing that I have an understanding of how to manage a football game and what I need to do to help the team win,'' Bollinger said. ``I'm not trying to make it into rocket science.'' When asked if the team would consider signing a free agent, such as Vinny Testaverde, Edwards said the Jets would discuss that once they had definite diagnoses on Pennington and Fiedler. ``All the powers that be will huddle up,'' Edwards said. ``We'll get a lot of phone calls from agents, I'm sure.'' As for Bollinger, he's looking at his NFL starting debut as a chance to show the Jets what he can do -- but he's focused on the task at hand: beating the Ravens. ``I think anytime you get an opportunity in there as a quarterback, especially not being a first-round pick or whatever, it's an unbelievable opportunity,'' he said. ``It can turn into anything, but again, there's enough on my mind and I have enough to worry about this week that whatever it turns out to be down the road, fine, great, but I'm just worried about this week.'' Edwards said an MRI revealed that offensive tackle Jason Fabini has a Grade II sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, but will be fitted for a brace and his status for the game against Baltimore was uncertain. Linebacker Eric Barton has a strained ankle, and his status for Sunday's game was uncertain. AP Sports Writer Dennis Waszak contributed to this story.
  4. And today could be (hopefully is) the last time Bernie Williams plays in Yankee stadium. I'd suspect he'd get a huge response from the crowd all day.
  5. I think the Brewers have some good young talent, but I definitely wouldn't take some games at the end of the season against a team the clinched in July as an indication of how good they will be. Not saying you are, that's just in general.
  6. Chris Carpenter has been atrocious lately. He's given up 14 earned runs in his last 3 starts. Now his ERA has jumped to 2.60. It's Willis Cy Young right now.
  7. I did too, but I'm tired of it cause the Yankees keep winning. *spits on the monument*
  8. Kevin Millwood finally gets run support and blows it. Pathetic.
  9. I've come to the realization the Yankees wont lose another game this season. I'm depressed.
  10. seriously. I STILL don't get how he shouldn't win. His season is far superior to all the other candidates.
  11. I agree, I love the Wild Card. HOWEVER, in baseball specifically, many times the best team doesn't win series. Hell, if you put any two team together in a five/seven game series anyone could win. Can you guarantee me that the Devil Rays wouldn't win a 5 game series against the Angels? Or that the Giants couldn't beat the Braves in a 7 games series? Of course not. That's the problem I think people have with it. The added teams creates the chance of a lesser team beating out a team far superior in a short series.
  12. Too bad you don't play any until the last 3 games of the season.
  13. I didn't posts who I think will win, I posted who SHOULD win. And he should.
  14. Huh??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1st in WHIP 1st in Batting Average Against 1st in VORP 1st in strikeouts Tied for 3rd in Win Shares 3rd in ERA Hope I cleared that up....
  15. AL - David Ortiz Cy Young - Johan Sanatana ROTY - Jonny Gomes NL - Albert Pujols Cy Young - Chris Carpenter ROTY - Ryan Howard
  16. Cause Manny's on deck.
  17. Yeah, just missed it. He'll hit one today though, more then likely.
  18. Pujols has tied Derek Lee for the batting crown.
  19. Scott Podesdnik is the epitome of average.
  20. They've been terrible against the White Sox all season, though. And they have to play 6 games over the White Sox for the rest of the season and the White Sox have just as easy a schedule. It's almost impossible for the Indians to realistically pull this off. I just hope they can win enough games to keep the Yankees out of the post season
  21. Yeah, they got him for 5 runs in 3 innings. I don't think there's any way he wins the Cy Young at this point, especially after seeing the writers pass over Randy Johnson for Clemens last year in pretty much the same situation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not quite the same. Carpenter has him in more stats this year then Clemens had Randy Johnson in.
  22. Triple H's blade job in the Judgment Day match with The Rock was pretty bad.
  23. You must've been watching a different game. He got pressured all through the second half. He rushed throws and was off balance.
  24. We have two problems here The offensive line was not good last night. Collins was pressured all night after the first quarter. And Collins isn't a smart QB so he forces the ball to his best reciever when there's other options available. Very frustrating. So was Moss drop on third down when we would've got the first down and he had a lot of open yards to get. Jerry Porter being hurt didn't help matters either. The pass defense is probably worse then I imagined. And we play the Chiefs next week then the Eagles. This is not good. Things I liked The rush defense stepped up big and the second half the pass defense did put more pressure on the quarterback. I was impressed with Lamont Jordan. He could have a big season if this o-line improves through the year. I doubt the pass rush will be much better but if the offensive line gets better we can definitely go 9-7.
  25. Co-signs everything. And our offense is tremendous this season. If the defense is any good we'll be in the post season.
