Sorry, nothing was worse than the Yankees August bench of Bubba Crosby, Felix Escolona and John Flatherty.

Just announced on YES that Leiter is out of the roation, with Small starting against the Sox on Saturday, and Wang against the Rays on Thursday. I think their rushing Wang back too quickley, but I've just about had enough of Al Leiter.

Agassi can only face Federer in the finals. Agassi has an easier draw to the finals, while Federer would have to face Hewitt if both make it to the semis.

Anybody watching MLB: A Season In The Wire on FSN? This thing is hilarious. I caught it halfway through, and from the Devil Ray's 1st base boach calling Alex Gonzalez the big cheese because he can hit a slider, or Carl Crawford making chicken noises because Gobble on the Royals is pitching, the show is gold.

I don't even like Bonds, but if he comes back and leads the Giants to the playoffs, it'd be a hell of a story.
-
I didn't think he'd make it through the 7th. He really showed some grit throwing strikes on 3-2 with the bases load on 5 straight pitches.

Giants start with the Cardinals, and I just have a huge feeling Warner is going to torch us.

Schilling needs to stop throwing his curves and splitters asap. That doesn't leave him with much obviously, but basically every hit the White Sox have is off a hanging splitter, or a hanging curve (Konerko's HRer).

The Yankees D can be so horrific sometimes. Ever since Sheff hurt his shoulder last year, when he couldn't lift his arm above his head, he started catching everything to the side. And even with his shoulder fine, he continues to do it.

Question. At ESPN.com, it says that if the season ended today, the As and Angels would be in the playoffs, and the Yankees out of it. I know the Yankees have the season series over the As, and don't have it over the Angels. The only reasoning I have is that the As are better head to head against the Angels, which gives the As the division, and the Angels the WC over the Yankees. Or is that not how it works?

He had a great chance in July when he had the 21 consecutive saves and his ERA was like .74. Then everyone started to notice, and he went into his usual August slump. Hes out of it now, and his stats are still very very good. 40 hits and only 10 earned runs in 63.1 IP. A 1.42 ERA. 35 saves in 39 chances. A WHIP of .89 and 68 Ks. I mean, those numbers are incredible, but doesn't a reliever need out of this universe stats to win the Cy Young?

I think Colons the front runner at this point.

This guy is crazy. Nothing from prior history shows he should be able to pitch effectivley in the major leagues. But, and I think that was his last inning, He'll be 6-0 with a 2.59 ERA. edit: And he goes the distance.

The next two games are really really important. If someone had asked me that Shawn Chacon and Aaron Small would be pitching important games for the Yankees in September, I would have slapped them. It really has been a weird season.
-
Also, what a waste of a night to work the pitcher. If only they did this all the time. edit: Six runners left on base through three innings. Pathetic.

You guys can outsmash anyone. We on the otherhand, cannot. And atleast the pitchers you have, Arroyo, Clement, and Wells CAN pitch great games, and have before. We on the otherhand have a career minor leaguer whos gonna get beat up sooner than later, a 41 year old who walks more guys than inning pitched, an unproven pitcher from Colorado with no postseason experience, and a 41 year old ace who isn't very consistent.
-
Who exactly is going to pitch for us? Randy, Chacon, Wright might have to miss a start or two, and Small? Things have turned for the worse really quickly. And even if the Yankees win the WC, which I'm kinda doubting, how the hell are they gonna win games on the road when they can't HIT on the road?
-
Moose might be out for the year, and Leiters luck has run out as he doesn't make it out of the first inning. Great.
-
Wasn't he like a major top prospect like, last year? What happened to him?
-
I should rephrase my comment. Their not going to trade him unless it improves them greatley, and Eddy Curry really wouldn't do that.
-
Knicks aren't trading Sweetney unless it was for Lebron, Shaq, or Kobe. Isiah loves him.

Huge series with the As starts tomorrow. Leiter (who I have a feeling is going to have 100 pitches through one against this team)/Haren, Sarloos/Small, and Chacon/Zito on Sunday Night baseball. We need to take 2/3.

Singleton does Yankee TV now.

I'm having an argument with a friend of mine about Derek Jeter and Johnny Damon about leadoff hitters. I showed him most of their stats, and there basically even. But then he says Damon looks and takes more pitches, and can remember seeing him have a ton of "tough" ten pitch ABs. So I looked deeper, and saw that Jeter takes more pitches per AB, and has seen 200+ more pitches than Damon this season, in only 6 more ABs. He went on to argue with me that having a 10 pitch AB, even if an out, is better than a one pitch single, due to it "wearing" down the pitcher. I basically think that theres no way you can factually prove that A. the rest of the lineup will work the count, or B. if the AB has any effect on the pitcher at all. So whats better, a one pitch single, or a ten pitch out?

I still would have taken Tino over Olerud in the offseason. Tino had a decent year last year, 20 HRs+ and 70+ RBIs. Doesn't mean I can't be bitter about it on a suck ass day.
