Is Shawn Michaels this generation's Ric Flair?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Good call. I'd recommend putting ALL fanboys on ignore (not just the HBK ones). It'll make reading threads like these a lot easier. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I swear the collective IQ level of the board drops with each post people like that make. I don't know how they manage to type anything at all from the pain they have to be in from their knuckles scraping along the ground. -
In the build-up to his tag match with Kevin Green against Flair and Arn None. There was no real setup before the turn, but after the turn they played certain things as being part of the setup. It started some weeks before the event, and it saw Perfect and Flair on alternate weeks claim that they were offering their services to Warrior or Savage. The storyline was that neither Savage or Warrior really trusted each other, and that Flair and Perfect were playing on that mistrust. It ended at Summerslam when they attacked both Savage and Warrior and showed that they weren't really courting either of them, and were just trying to mess with their minds.

Is Shawn Michaels this generation's Ric Flair?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
I've often wondered how any so-called great is that great when he no-sells everything his opponent has done to him. Shawn did that in 99.99% of his matches; when it came time for his comeback, he'd kip-up, and it would be like the last 20 minutes or so never happened. -
They want good looking people as announcers. Knowledge of the product is secondary to good looks. Knowledge of the product is even a detriment.

RAW's move to USA is getting hyped nicely
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to UZI Suicide's topic in The WWE Folder
The effect on the ratings when Raw moved from USA to TNN was minimal. WWE regularly used that as an excuse for ratings they weren't happy with, but it's a poor excuse at best. -
When it comes to getting their revenge, WWE have been known to do worse things than make bad business decisions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *cough*Invasion*cough* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was talking about how they pretty much called Lex Luger a murderer after the death of Elizabeth, even though it was clear that her death was accidental. He did say something like that. I think it was in one of his commentaries. He also took a subtle shot at Brian Pillman in his commentary that talked about this DVD when the news first broke.
-
He can't work a lick. In fact, he hadn't wrestled even once when the vignette's began airing.
-
To be fair, you are talking about four different matches wrestled in four totally different styles. You can't judge a brawl by the same criteria you would use to judge a technical wrestling match because you're looking at two different types of match. A **** brawl would be lucky to get * if you were rating it on wrestling ability and technique.

TNA Meeting with Spike about Promoting Impact
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to TNABaddboi's topic in TNA Wrestling
It's a 52-week deal. While there is no official trial period when it comes to getting good ratings, I imagine Spike won't be too happy if Impact doesn't get something decent pretty soon after debuting. -
With certain persons here, it's a lot of both. I think a lot of people are too quick to put down RVD for not being a good wrestler, when his strength has never been his wrestling but his unique in-ring style. I think RVD is a lot like Shawn Michaels in that respect. They are both great showmen and performers, but their wrestling ability is below average.

At least it gives you material for The Danger Zone.

Benjamin should be in the main event scene by now, or at the very least getting ready to break through to that level. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> .... What has Benjamin done that he should be in the main event, or even CLOSE to the main event? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The crowd went nuts for him when he upset Triple H. The follow up to that was beyond shitty. It should have propelled him into that second tier level, and it should have seen him built up so he could break into the main event scene right about now.

The death of VHS is coming very shortly.

Maybe we can have Tomko v Richards II, just to really add that kick the card needs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Richards is on SmackDown!, now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I cared, I would have remembered that.

Edited for truth. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think most people have already reached this conclusion.

Is Shawn Michaels this generation's Ric Flair?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
You're only saying that because Michaels half-assed so many house shows, or didn't bother showing up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Flair fully-assed all his house shows. I've got the tape to prove it. -

Buy it? No thanks. Obtain it for free by other means? Sure.
-
Are you referring to Tomko? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Masters. When he faced Tajiri a few weeks ago, Tajiri got the better reactions, and he wasn't the one they'd been pushing non-stop since the start of the year.

I think both are overrated, but Michaels far more so. He may be the most overrated wrestler of the modern age. -
Which would be another good reason to skip this PPV. Not the Tomko push, but using Benjamin as jobber fodder. Benjamin should be in the main event scene by now, or at the very least getting ready to break through to that level. The fact that he's stuck being used as as a stepping stone for a jacked up stiff is depressing, especially when Benjamin mired in the midcard with no real push for six months still got more of a reaction than the stiff they've been pushing almost non-stop since the start of the year.
