  1. The only problem is that Shawn's promo made you want to see Bret v Shawn more than it made you want to see Shawn v Hogan.
  2. Bret isn't showing up at SS, but that is what you're meant to be thinking. And no, Shawn isn't going over.
  3. I think it might be more a case of people wanting to play David to a Goliath.
  4. In hindsight, if Vince was so protective of his main title why did he have the big gold belt become the major title in the last couple of years? Probably doesn't have anything to do with it, but it sure seems Flair's belt got better treatment than the Bret belt until recently. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to mention he had no problem with Austin refusing to job the IC belt to Rocky the month later. The treatment of Flair's belt probably has more to do with Hunter than anything else.
  5. "A little short-term gain for the long-term liability" AA says it so well.
  6. Austin's heel turn was a business disaster, that almost single handedly ran off all the Attitude Era fans that got hooked on the WWF by the Austin versus Vince angle.
  7. Given that, I think Rock might have had more than a little trouble reaching the heights he did. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does he mean the match right after WM where Hart was just coming off his brilliant heel turn and Rocky Maivia was just some guy who appeared to have no potential? The time where even Foley was saying Vince should cut his losses and get rid of the guy? Damn, does Shawn's evilness have a limit? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> According to Cawthon's site, the match was taped two days after WM XIII and aired six days after that.
  8. Some people have said that it was for the best because Nakamura was getting 'pushed back' by the fans after being pushed too hard so soon, and that because the fans went nuts for it that it meant it was for the best, because it was better to go with a result like that, that they were happy about, than a result that made them unhappy. While that makes some sense, you've got to think about business. If going for the happy ending is good or great for business, then go for it. I just don't see how a huge step backwards is good or great for business. Yes, it made a for a feel good ending, but once that happy high is gone, you're left with a barely mobile start of yesteryear as the winner of the G1, and he's even saying he might not even go after the IWGP belt right away. Yes, that makes the IWGP belt look important when the the champ gets beaten in less than ten minutes, and then the guy beating him saying he's not in a hurry to get a title shot. Thanks. I can't go in for the quiz this week, as the Lipinski Rule means I have to wait three weeks before I can try to win again.
  9. Meltzer's latest update confirmed Kazarian was released. Not only that, but his former tag partner, Matt Bentley aka Michael Shane, is also out of work, as it were, having left TNA.
  10. Not to mention that with both Rock and Hunter vying for the same spot, Shawn would have also been trying to derail Rock to make sure Hunter got the spot. From Meltzer on WC: Given that, I think Rock might have had more than a little trouble reaching the heights he did.
  11. And they've never heard of changing with the times?
  12. What else do you expect from a board that bans people who complain about the fact the wrestling forum has a million pinned threads, and only has room for two regular threads. What is the deal behind that anyway? Why is there a need for so many pinned threads that there is almost no room for regular threads?
  13. Maybe he misheard, and thinks Rey and Eddie are fighting over custard papers, and he threw a fit over a food product being abused.
  14. Unless Gibson drops dead before leaving RoH, there is no way he should leave without losing the belt in the ring. Nothing devalues a world title more than the former champion just leaving the promotion before he loses it. Not to mention that the RoH fans would shit all over the idea of the belt being vacated by someone leaving the promotion. It would be one thing if Gibson wasn't going anywhere, and he got injured; even then, it's likely Gabe would keep the belt on Gibson until he absolutely had to strip him of the title. But if Gibson is healthy, he absolutely has to drop the belt in the ring.
  15. Do you really think that Vince would've chosen Shawn over Austin as hot as he was at that point? I think another HBK title run is a given, and the HHH feud is a possibility as well, but with as much money as Austin was bringing in at the time, there's no way he'd knock him out of the top spot in favor of Shawn. I really think he'd let Shawn walk and go to WCW before he allowed that to happen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Shawn's politicking would have reached new heights in trying to derail Austin. I'm sure Vince would go with wanting to push Austin with how crazy over he was, but I'm also just as sure that Shawn would have done everything he could, including threatening to walk out, to get Vince to change his mind, and even though Austin is the one to side with in hindsight, there is no telling what Vince would decide, what with WM 14 being, at that point, the most publicized Wrestlemania of the modern era, and a gun being held to his head.
  16. If he asked for his release a month ago and still hasn't got it, then he either isn't going anywhere, or management is so disorganized, that Johnny Ace still hasn't made the call.
  17. I'm positive this was reported weeks ago.
  18. I'm sure this is old 'news', that has long since been disproven.
  19. How so? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Jarrett pins Raven, he gets the next shot at the NWA title. The last time TNA started on television, Jarrett got the belt back so he could be the champion when TNA debuted on FSN. With the next PPV being before TNA debut on Spike, I'm calling repeat, and Jarrett beating Raven tonight, getting the belt next month, and TNA debuting on Spike with Jarrett on top.
  20. I'm going to play it safe, and wait for the replay. If I hear good things, I'll buy the PPV. If not, then at least I've got money in the bank for UFC 54.
  21. How can people like gorey bladejobs? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because when they are done at the right time, they can add a lot of drama a match or an angle.
  22. They've built up Daniels for him to finally lose when he drops the X-Division belt to someone. They shouldn't ruin that by having him lose a non-title match to Aries, even if Aries is sticking around. And they just gave away the finish to the main event.
  23. I think he would have done his best to derail Austin, and would have tried to get out of dropping the WWF belt to Austin. If Vince forced the issue, and Shawn did drop the belt, I have no doubt he would have bitched and moaned his way into getting the belt right back, and into starting a program with Hunter. It would be Hunter v Shawn from 2002-4, but with Shawn being the top guy only willing to put over his best friend.
  24. Answered your own question right there. WWE was looking for negative comments from different superstars on Bret Hart, and Hulk Hogan gave it to them. Kind of like in any other job where your boss asks you to do something, would you do it or not? Hulk Hogan did his job while Chris Benoit, Jim Ross, and Roddy Piper didn't. So, should we really be insulting someone who was just doing their job? I wish people would kind of leave this forum to wrestling discussion, instead of using worthless news to try and start negative discussion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Piper gave negative comments. This is wrestling discussion, like it or not. After all, it is about a wrestling promotion putting out a wrestling DVD covering a wrestler. Just because it's news you don't seem able to take in, it doesn't make it worthless.
  25. Who if not Nash? Someone who could have been elevated. Someone who could have done something off of ending the streak. Nash became booker in mid-November, so he was the one who made the call for himself to beat Goldberg.
