If Hassan was still in the SS main event, I think a title change would have been a near certainty now.

Why do they keep blaming Bischoff for WCW failing?
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to zyn081's topic in General Wrestling
There is more then enough blame to go around for the death of WCW. Eric Bischoff deserves blame for turning WCW into a virtual ATM machine for useless talent (case in point Scott Norton and Stevie Ray got $800,000pa deals), and for giving away creative control clauses like they were his wife at the Gold Club Hulk Hogan deserves blame for actively sabotaging numerous careers and storylines to satisfy his own ego. Yes, Bischoff should get blamed for allowing that to happen, but Hogan still deserves the blame for actually doing it. Same with Kevin Nash. Vince Russo. When Bischoff was canned in 1999 there was still a chance that WCW could have been turned around. Their numbers were just above the level where, had they sunk any lower, WCW would have had to sell ads at a reduced rate due to the numbers being so low. They still had enough talented workers that, with a creative and intelligent wrestling mind, they could have turned things around. It would have taken a year or two, but the potential was there to build WCW back up. Instead, we got WWF-lite, and some of the most inane crap this side of Jim Herd, and a clueless hack who flat out ignored what the fans of the company paying him $750,000pa were telling him, and took the compay past the point of no return. Combine the ego's and total ineptness of those four, and they provided the ammunition needed for the ultimate trigger man, Jamie Kellner -
Talent wise, Conway smokes Bagwell. Has done for years.

You say you work in the financial sector and say money isn't everything? I'm guessing you either don't actually work with money, or don't make much money yourself. The point of a business is to make the most money you can. Doing anything else is stupid, because you're taking money out of your own pocket. Integrity and being comfortable with yourself is everything? Tell me, how much money do businesses lose out on on your world? Yes, but Hogan v Rock had already been done once, so the lustre wasn't quite there and neither that match nor Hogan v Vince are the Holy Grail of wrestling. And your point is? Yes, it would be nice for the fans who got attracted back to WWE by Austin v Hogan to tune in the next day and see a quality product, but just because they won't, that is no reason not to do Austin v Hogan.

I see nobody called the wahmbulance you need. I'll complain about anything I like, which in this case are the the ramblings of someone who doesn't really understand the subject they are talking about. I don't care if people think the same way I do, if it's apparent that they know what they are talking about; RRR, in his fantasy booking of the Hogan v Austin match laid it out in a way I would not have, but I didn't care, because, and this is the part you should pay attention to, he knows what he is talking about. Different tastes don't make you an idiot, a moron, or clueless. Wanting or expecting an Austin v Hogan match to involve both men beating each other silly or going 'all out' makes you either an idiot, a moron, or clueless, because it's unreasonable and unrealistic to expect that out of a match between the two. I can take criticism or people disagreeing with me; if I didn't, I would have left the board a long time ago, or would have banned dozens of people, and that hasn't happened. If you're in wrestling, or any kind of business, for reasons other than money, you're an idiot. Anyone willing to pass up on a match that will not only draw huge business, but could also set records, is an idiot. Who in their right mind would have any great expectations, ring wise, from an Austin v Hogan match? Austin v Hogan is going to be a match totally based on storyline, personality, performance and charisma. Anyone expecting anything else is an idiot. If you expect even a good wrestling match out of Austin v Hogan, you are an idiot. I'm a big fan of wrestling, and I hate the sports entertainment-heavy aspect of WWE, but if I sit down to watch an Austin v Hogan match, I'm not going to expect a wrestling match and I won't be disappointed when that doesn't happen. And Austin v Goldberg will get more than 'a few extra buys'. It won't get as many as Austin v Hogan, but it'll get fair few buys. It's called maximizing the drawing potential of a PPV which happens to be your biggest of the year. I know you don't appear to have any interest in making as much money as you can, but Vince does, hence bringing back major names of the past few years to get as many buys as possible. Whether WWE 'pisses over' the rest of its hand, doesn't take away from the fact that they're maximizing the drawing potential of their biggest PPV of the year, and that's good business. Normally, I would agree with that. However, in this case we are not only dealing with a regular name who can afford to lose, but we're also apparently beginning the long build towards the Holy Grail of Austin v Hogan, so Hogan should win to build him up. It was 31 months from Brock squashing Hogan until Hogan's return and his One Last Match. It's 7 months from now until the proposed Austin v Hogan match. I don't have a calendar at hand, but I think 7 months is a little shorter than 31 months. They also weren't beginning a build towards the Holy Grail of wrestling matches, so I have a feeling, just a feeling, that they wouldn't have had Brock squash Hogan in such a manner. Austin v Hogan. I would want a World title match to go on last, but nothing could follow Austin v Hogan, so that would get the main event position, because that would be the main event to the majority of people watching.

Iggymcfly may be the dumbest person on TSM's wrestling forums, and that covers a lot of ground. He is either totally clueless, a troll, or a lot of both.

HHH and Ric Flair's return date to TV announced
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to algrim's topic in The WWE Folder
I think the answer is obvious. -
CC wants to believe what he says. Most of the time, it's clear he is trying to convince himself more than anything. I think deep down he knows the truth about Jeff Jarrett, but he can't bring himself to believe it.

Billy Gunn was only ever over when he had Road Dogg to leech heat off of. They tried making him a singles star, but he flopped miserably, and they had to rush a NAO reunion. On his own, Gunn generates all the heat of an ice cube.

HHH and Ric Flair's return date to TV announced
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to algrim's topic in The WWE Folder
Of all the people, including the side-players in the Benoit vs HHH feud there was only one clear loser: Benoit. The proof is in their post-SummerSlam spots. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You would think more people would notice that Hunter stayed at the top level and Benoit moved back down to the midcard/upper midcard after Benoit 'won' their feud. -
Rock is not coming back for any length of time. His full-time days are long over.

IWA-MS 8/19 matches...Necro vs. Homicide!
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
According to today's WO.com update, Ian Rotten was on the IWA:MS website, and openly talking about closing the promotion down. -
Not quite at the top, but Jack Brisco comes to mind.

TNA Meeting with Spike about Promoting Impact
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to TNABaddboi's topic in TNA Wrestling
Shouldn't that be obvious? If they start from the beginning, they won't wind up showing clips and stuff from PPV's that the WalMart crowd won't have been able to see. It's best to start from the beginning, because then they won't be starting stories from the second chapter. -
Id prefer to go out at the top of my game, performing to the best of my ability, giving the fans a wrestling match of a lifetime. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice idea in theory, but in the real world, you don't always get to go out like that. You just have to 'settle' on making a ton of money and giving the people what they want.

I think Rrrsh must be related to CarnivalizComing.

Such an intelligent thought is foreign around these parts.

Get a clue, and I'll be glad to stop talking to down to you. Anybody watching Austin v Hogan and wanting to see them beat the hell out of each other is either a moron or clueless. Right now, that is neither man's strength, and is not want the majority of people want to see, or expect to see, out of a match between the two. If people are paying to see Austin v Hogan, they are not paying for a **** match, or 20 minutes of both men beating the shit out of each other, though if they are, they deserve to feel ripped off. They are paying to see two iconic figures perform for the very first time, and I highly doubt that any of them are going to be disappointed if they don't get a **** war. They are going to expect a great story, a great performance, and a ton of emotion. Anyone expecting or wanting anything else just does not get it. So do I, but I'm not going to watch a Austin v Hogan match for the wrestling, nor would I expect to see great wrestling out of it. Why should anyone with a brain in their head expect that out of a match between the two? Someone dial 911, we need a wahmbulance. Be passionate about wrestling all you want. I am. I just know enough, as do many others, not to go into a Austin v Hogan match expecting or wanting a great wrestling match. Shame we can't say the same about you.
-
You need to get a clue. Nobody watching Austin v Hogan is going to expect them to go all out. They don't want that out of an Austin v Hogan match. They want to see the two of the very biggest names of wrestling perform, not wrestle, and that is the difference between any of the other matches you brought up, and you don't seem able to grasp that. People wanting to see Austin v Hogan are watching for the performance, not the wrestling content. They will deliver that in spades, and they won't disappoint because of that. I'd rather see both Lesnar v Batista as a monster v monster match, and see Austin v Hogan as a nostalgia match. I'm not going to watch Austin v Hogan and expect a hot wrestling match, because I am not going to get that. I'm going to watch it for the performance and the nostalgia, and so I won't care that it will be an average wrestling match at best, because I am not watching it for the wrestling, and neither will anyone else paying to see it.

Did you see Hogan do the legdrop to Carlito? It was the safest and lightest legdrop he ever did. If Hogan hits the legdrop on Austin, he isn't going to to damage Austin one bit, because it will have all the force of a baby's fart. You're not Austin, and I'm betting that his neck, and overall body is more muscled than yours, which helps with absorbing and taking impact. Austin obviously felt it was worth the risk to compete at WM XIX. And that match isn't going more than 10 minutes, if that, so the risk, such as it is, is minimal. I'd wager that not one casual fan cares that both men are broken down, and can't pull out a good match. They might know, and probably do, but they will overlook that. Has Hogan still got it and can go? Not as a regular performer, but as a nostalgia act, he can still go and what is needed, simply because being a nostalgia act is different to being a regular player. Of course Hogan is not in his prime, but that has absolutely nothing to do with his drawing power as part of the biggest dream match US wrestling has to offer, because the people drawn in by it don't care.

Austin has one match left in him, as long as it is safe. And it doesn't get any safer than wrestling Hogan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why one match and not 2, 3 or 4 if they are safe? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because of the risk and danger to his neck. One match would be ok, but any more than that is chancing it, and there is no point in doing that. The Austin v Hogan dream match will outdraw any other match WWE could put on, and may even break records. Whether that builds for the future or not, and it won't other than allowing a ton of people to catch their current stars which likely won't mean a thing, it's the Holy Grail of dream matches. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whats stopping something going wrong in that much and he still damages his neck? It can happen at any time, he could trip up and fall very badly or be hit by a car heaven forbid. Why spoil the sure thing for the possible maybe? I couldnt care about 2 over the hill wrestlers in the ring. It is a dream match yes, a dream match that I wanted to see in 1998, not 2006 (and even Hogan was out of it then). Why deprive your roster for this?Is this going to be RAW's ME for WM? Higher on the card than the WWE Title Match? And then what after the Holy Grail takes place? Look at Goldberg-Brock, 2 monsters meet, a whole lot of good that didnt it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The chances of anything going wrong in that match are as small as they get. Hogan does nothing high risk, or even medium risk; his offense is as low risk as it gets. And Austin isn't going to do anything silly either. They don't need to do anything risky anyway, so they won't. Did you miss the part about this match having the potential to set records, and that it would draw more money than any other match WWE could put on? Casual fans would die to see this match. Because this match can get more eyeballs watching WM 22 than any other match, which in turn exposes the WWE product to more people, and hopefully creates some new fans.

Maybe you don't hear the fans go nuts for him. Or see them buy his merch. Or read reports that he's generally the most over guy on house shows, and if he doesn't appear, people are annoyed, which doesn't usually happen with anyone else. Maybe you're also ignoring the fact that the fans don't care that he's not that good, which is a great sign of someone being over if the fans are willing to overlook his shortcomings. Or we could throw all that out, and just assume you're an idiot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If we are going to use that logic, then RVD should have been champ a long time ago. Insanely over, merchandise selling, repetitive moves but still entertaining. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, he should have been made the champ. He was crazy over and the fans were dying to embrace him as a major player. -

Until the writers need someone to make Cena look good. It's pretty well a matter of time before the two have a title match. Maybe it'll be at Survivor Series. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd say Hunter will get that spot, and no surprises as to whicih finish he pushes for.
