WWE General Discussion - March 2009
Hunter's Torn Quad replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
In the just released Observer, and I know people have been wondering about this for some reason, it's confirmed that Tomko was released 'some time back'. John Laurinaitis took heat for it because Tomko came in with a torn pec, and it was felt Laurinaitis should have had Tomko undergo a medical exam before hiring him. Wouldn't it seem like common sense to give a potential employee a full medical before signing him? -
It wasn't just one single reason, but the main reason was that Austin was unhappy over his time in Memphis, ie: the terrible pay, treatment, etc. This was the reason that he never did anything with TNA, because he'd hated Memphis. Austin was also, as mentioned, not happy with Jarrett's promo knocking the Austin 3:16, because he felt he was disrespecting his gimmick. Another factor was Austin not being a fan of Jarrett's work. He felt Jarrett was too light; Austin once gave a radio interview about this, and said something like he didn't expect Jarrett to hit him full force but to "at least let me know you're in there, son."

A wrestler can be blown up at any point, but if he's gassing out after only three minutes, then there are probably things he needs to work on because he's clearly either not in shape or not able to get in shape. That's the point he's trying to make; that Sting, for whatever reason, isn't in good shape, and he should probably take care of that. -

That's some top-notch reporting, considering she was in the graphic shown on Raw. For clarification, the mention of Kim being added specifically says: It's not like they were presenting it as breaking news, just pointing out, correctly, that Kim being added to the battle royal was done without fanfare. -
Test and Kelly had broken up a while ago, but were still friends.

It's Miz and Morrison versus The Colons with both tag titles at stake and a Bella twin in each corner. -
It's reached a point where it doesn't matter if it's true or not; so many people think it is that it may as well be. In any event, the important thing isn't what did or did happen but rather what Vince thinks happened.
-
F4W It's always fun, in a car crash way, to see what Vince does after such events. It can't exactly make the build to WM any less enthralling.

I've noticed this issue, with times changing every time you refresh the page, for quite some time.

PWI reports that Wendy Richter has turned the invitation to appear in the Diva Battle Royal. -
I think that's the reason people are now feeling let down by the Jericho deal. Before last night, it, in theory, still could have been Austin or Flair in a singles match. That would have been a match people would have really gotten into in terms of build up and execution. Now, with the realization that it appears to be Jericho vs. Steamboat, Snuka and Piper, you can't help but be disappointed. If the angle last night had ended with Austin or Flair challenging Jericho at WM, people wouldn't have minded so much. As it is, the reality fails, miserably, to match up to expectations and what could have been.

I too would like Karo to come back and get tooled by someone. I've never really liked him because he always has some excuse as to why he lost a fight and acts as if he's all that but has never shown anything to prove it. -
Meltzer talks about the Savage rumors, and what people who have worked there say.

There should be, but I would not be totally shocked that he got the Crash Holly treatment.

One presumes Foley turned heel although the spoilers don't make it clear how everyone else sells it. Anyway, a Mod can change the thread title because those spoilers are now complete. -
What......The........Fuck? I fucking hate Russo. This doesn't appear to have actually happened, at least according to the spoilers. Although it does say something that such a ridiculous and idiotic skit could easily be mistaken for something that TNA would actually do.

F4W Which would indicate the cause of the death is indeed drug related, either from ongoing use or a perhaps a reaction to mixing the drugs with alcohol, as was the case with Elizabeth.

One problem with the Rumble was the lukewarm promotion. They never bothered to hammer home that this is the Rumble and the winner is going on to the main event of the biggest show of the year. -
TNA spoilers for this Thursday 3/19 from Orlando, Florida: *The Main Event Mafia come out to the ring. Kurt Angle said that everything he predicted for Destination X came true and that it was the biggest screwjob since Montreal. Yes, since Montreal. Sting tells Angle that he has been loyal to the Mafia but it's Angle he has a problem with. Nash sides with Sting and says that he owed Angle nothing. Nash says that he does owe the rest of them something since the last two PPVs, Sting has had his hands raised by Mick Foley. Sting asks Nash what does he want him to do. Angle says he wants Sting to be his partner tonight against Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett comes out and reminds Angle that he is just a wrestler, not a member of management and he doesn't make the matches. Angle says Jarrett is just trying to protect Sting, that Sting is a liar and Foley is on the inactive list. Foley comes out and asks Sting if he is the decider and that he never ever said he's wrestled his last match. Foley says he's in for the main event. Angle tells Jarrett to "Man Up" (Briscoes, represent yo). Jarrett accepts and said it all ends tonight. *Scott Steiner wore a hoodie over his face to mask whatever Samoa Joe "did to him" at the PPV. Team No Limit defeated The Motor City Machineguns. Beer Money attacks No Limit and lays them out. Robert Roode takes the mic and says they want to apologize to Team 3D for how they acted last night at the PPV. He says that he knows Team 3D is going to ask for a rematch at Lockdown and that's what they want, a rematch in Philadelphia inside the Six Sides of Steel. He said that when they beat 3D in Philly, they will finally get the respect they deserve. Brother Ray comes out and offers to put the IWGP Tag Team belts against the TNA Tag belts in a battle for true dominance. Ray said when they win, they'll be 22 time tag team champions. Storm says it won't be an off the wagon challenge because they want 3D around to know that they used to be the best, but now its Beer Money. All four have a staredown. *Taylor Wilde & ODB defeated Raisha Saied & TNA Knockouts champ Awesome Kong when Wilde pinned Kong. Kong attacked ODB afterwards and was beating her when Cody Deaner came from the crowd for the save. *Jim Cornette interviewed TNA Legends champion AJ Styles. He congratulates Styles for winning the belt and said that after all the Main Event Mafia has done, Styles got a piece back for the Frontline. Booker T comes out and says that if Styles is going to defend the belt against anyone, it's him. He calls Styles a paper champion. Styles tells Booker that he's not going to do anything. Sharmell claims that AJ stole the title and Booker will get it back on his own time. *The Governor defeated Madison Rayne. The Beautiful People attacked the Governor and Rayne cut some of her hair. *Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley defeated TNA champion Sting & Kurt Angle. Jeff Jarrett was going to hit Angle with his guitar but Sting grabbed it. Foley nailed Sting with a chair and pinned him. *Sting grabs the mic and said he he wanted back in the ring, he should have said it. Sting said he saw Foley say two weeks ago that Sting made his career on "Hardcore History" , but now Sting is going to end it. He challenges Foley to a match at Lockdown.

I think the idea is for us to finally find out who Jericho is facing at WM. On last night's WOR, Meltzer said that Rourke is under the impression it's going to be Flair. I guess we might also find out what part Rourke is going to play, if any; they've totally downplayed his involvement since he lost out on the Oscar. If you figure that Kozlov/JBL have some kind of miscommunication to lead to JBL losing and setting up an IC title match between the two, then I'd go with something else entirely happening. I don't see Shawn turning on Undertaker, because you don't need to waste something like that, even a short term deal, on a match that is going to sell itself anyway.

I look forward to it in the 'I know it's going to be bad" way. Is this the PPV where Hogan really no-sells Vader's powerbomb, which at that point was a back-breaking instrument of destruction? The staggering part is Hogan no-sold the powerbomb during the build-up to Clash of the Champions. The BUILD-UP! According to Vader's shoot interview, he didn't know Hogan was going to pop right back up. He was under the impression Hogan would sell it big to add heat to the PPV. -

Hunter's Torn Quad replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in TNA Wrestling
If you mean the glory days of 2004-2006, then no. You still get a decent to really good match sometimes on PPV, and the Suicide angle has been somewhat interesting, but the X-Division is a shadow of it's former self. One of the main things that made TNA seem like a quality alternative to WWE, and they went ahead and ruined it. -

An earlier update mentioned that Creed had suffered a bad concussion. At least TNA are doing the right thing and not having him wrestle. -
