  1. I know Bret/Yoko had a Cage Match on Inside the WWF. I wouldn't call it **** but it was on a Yokozuna scale probably. Maybe that's not the match I'm thinking of then, but I definitly remember Meltzer saying once that Bret and Yoko went **** in a cage.
  2. Yokozuna vs Lex Luger isn't bad, and is definitly one of Yokoz best matches, but his best was a cage match against Bret Hart where Bret carried him to like ****. I think it's available on an old Coliseum Video comp,
  3. Summerslam 1993 is tainted because everyone expected Lex Luger to win the belt and was dissapointed when he didn't.
  4. It's pretty obvious that the baby is Eugenes.
  5. Ok, I just Compared the First Episode with one I have on tape, and yeah, about a minute and a half is missing from the beginning. Nothing major, but it does make me angry. Perhaps when the series went into syndication, they did not bother to hold onto the original episodes and erased them?
  6. Really? I have a tape around here somewhere with a few original airings on it, so I'll have to compare the two later. Edit: I ran a few episodes through my DVD player downstairs with the timer, and each episode runs about 21:30 which is in sync with the length of time with commercials most broadcast TV shows go for. Untill I dig out my old tapes, I have nothing to compare it to, but considering most other series that I've seen cut for syndication rarely go over the 20 minute mark after editing, I am inclined to believe these episodes of ALF are uncut. Edit Again: http://www.tvshows.de/alf/e-stats.htm According to this, he average episode length is 23 minutes so it's possible that there is a minute and a half of editing. I will investigate this further.
  7. Am I the only one on earth willing to admit they boiught this? ALF was a great sitcom, way ahead of it's time. Unlike the other schmaltz on TV at the time like The Cosby Show or Full House, ALF had attitude. Sure, the show may seem really geeky by todays standards, but watching it now, it still stands the test of time, and still holds up today unlike the shows I mentioned previously which are of little value to audiences today. A quick rundonw of this set, it's 4 discs and contains all twenty five episodes of the first season. Unlike the later seasons of ALF, which had quite a few really bizarre episodes, this first season doesn't stray too far from the normal sitcom formula, and it works out well. Like I said earlier, while it might not seem too crass by todays standards, ALF really stood out amongst the other family oriented sitcoms of the time because it wasn't about teaching values or morals, it was about attitude. The episodes have been remasterd and are presented in 4:3 Full Screen with 2.0 Dolby Digital which both looks and sounds outstanding. I'm glad Lions Gate seemed to take their time with this set, because many companies lately seem to just do a direct film to DVD transfer without care for how it looks, and just want to make a quick buck. Special Features include the Original Unaired Pilot, which really isn't a whole lot different then the one that ended up being broadcast, a 10 minute gag reel featuring outakes from the show, and a short "ALF Trivia" section which just contains a brief synopsis of the series. The menus are wll d0one and feature interactive segments hosted by ALF, which are pretty funny. A commentary track or two featuring the creator of ALF or better yet the original cast would have been interesting, especially considering just about all the original actors fell off the face of the planet after the series ended, but the stuff they did include was a nice touch. Overall I must say I am happy with this set. Fans of the show will probobly be dissapointed with the thin selection of extras, buremasterd picture and sound certainly make up for it. Hopefully Season 2 will have more behind the scenes stuff na dmaybe a commentary or two, but I hear that Paul Fusco, the creator of ALF is really adament about keeping the illusion alive that ALF is real, and not a puppet, so it's doubtful that we'd ever learn too much of the dirt behind the series Overall 8/10
  8. Obviously not. As a practicing Scientologist, Tom is amongst the ranks of former homosexuals like John Travolta and Kirstie Alley cured of their disease through Dianetics.
  9. I was in the crowd for Vengeance, and it came off to me as being just an extended House Show. Maybe it came off better on TV.
  10. My copy of Rumble 88 is a copy of a copy x1000 so the quality is horrible. Regardless, the match and show itself is pretty run of the mill. The Rumble itself didn't get interesting untill the next year. Ax and Smash drawing 1 and 2 really added to the anything goes aspect, and was a seriously huge markout moment as a kid.
  11. They could also end up doing like the Wrestlmania set and sell the discs individually and as a set
  12. I'm not sure where, but I'm pretty sure I read tha Vince doesn't own the rights to any of the footage with Buddy Rogers as champ. Umm, I guess I'd shell out the money to buy this. I dunno, I guess I'd have to wait for more details to decide. Also, the "replica belt" could very well just be one of those foam platic belts that Jakks Pacific markets.
  13. If my life were a wrestling gimmick, my fate would be to end up with a mid-card comedy gimmick and fall from the ceiling to my death on a PPV no one's watching becfore a match no one cares about.
  14. From 1Wrestling: 1Wrestling.com has learned that the WWE released Ryan Sakoda earlier this week. Sakoda had used primarily in tag team matches teaming with Akio (Jimmy Yang). It's expected that, as with other recent releases, Sakoda will have a 90 day no-compete period before he can work with other promotions. Meh.
  15. I remember catching I remember catching Livewire a few times towards the end and it was hosted by a then new and very green Jonthan COachman, and Shane Mcmahons WIfe. It was easily the worst wrestling show ever produced. Neither Coach nor Shanes Wife had any kowlege of wrestling whatsoever. You could tell they were just reading scripted lines striaght off a teleprompter and they fake emotion in their voices made it totally unbearable.
  16. Umm, most of those guys just have long hair, it's really not a Mullet.
  17. He's the Leader of the Unification Church Cult who's really just completely nuts. Moon isn't dangerous, he's just crazy. You can read more about Reverend Moon here: http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/religion...sun-myung-moon/ We assume that North Korea wants Nuclear Power for BAD purposes because they outright admit that thats what the want it for.
  18. So I guess this is the WWEs aofficial launch of their Video On Demand progrma ont he net, and I like it. I signed up for it, and for 4 bucks you get to watch a whole bunch of classic matches. This month you get to see: Bubba Ray/D-Von Dudley vs. Spike Dudley/Balls Mahony Rob Van Dam vs. Rhyno Cactus Jack & Mikey Whipwreck vs. Public Enemy Rob Van Dam vs. Jeff Hardy Brock Lesnar vs. Hulk Hogan Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show Shawn Michaels vs. Yokozuna Undertaker & Mankind vs. Shawn Michaels & Triple H Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind Ric Flair vs. Eddie Guerrero Hulk Hogan vs. Lex Luger Lance Storm vs. Mike Awesome Goldberg vs. Rick Steiner DDP & Jay Leno vs. Hogan & Bischoff Chris Jericho vs. Stevie Ray Sting and Kevin Nash vs. Steiners Sting & The Cat vs. The Great Muta & Vampiro Hulk Hogan vs. Sting Lex Luger vs. Steven Regal Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Jeff Hardy It's a really great deal, 4 bucks for such a wide variety of matches. I only wathced one match so far, Shawn Michael vs Yokozuna, and while the picture Quality isn't so hot, it definitly ran totally seemlessly, so I won't complain. I really hope they keep this up, and keep the prices low too. I could definitly see myself ordering this again.
  19. I'm still waiting for the day Michael Moore eats Al Franken and chokes and dies on his body.
  20. Farenheit 9/11 is more fantasy / science fiction then documentary, and Outfoxed falls out of the box of good documentaries, but hey, to each his own. ANywyas, rent Beyond the Mat.
  21. Well, I know in Canada that was (is?) a legitiamte buisness, and was much easier to accomplish because you could just go to any electronics store which had the equipment and get a card and receiver that would give you access to everything, and it was (is?) totally legal. In America though it was much more difficult, you had to have own equipment and cards and receivers and you would have to keep re-wiritng it, and it was a lot more trouble then it was worth. That's what I remebmr hearing anyways.
  22. Thanks for the info guys
  23. I was reminiscing with some people today, and I seem to remember this incident, could anyone clarify it for me? All I remember is that it was a Hardcore match during the 24/7 thing in 2000. THey were fighting int he back where the food was, and soemone hit someone else with a bag of popcorn, spilling it all over the floor. Then Viscera comes in to do the run in, but slips on the Popcorn and takes a huge dive. Does anyone else remember this?
  24. Is Tekken 5 peing released to Arcades first, or is it going straight to the consoles? I dunno about other places, but there's no arcades lefta round here at all. Even the last few stragglers that managed to hold on these past few years despite having no new games at all have all since closed down.
  25. Maybe we'll finally get that 15 Minute Funaki match where's not treated like a jobber and is alowed to keep up with his opponent and not just get squashed.....or maybe it'll just be Luther Reigns.
