  1. Here are some notes from the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer.. -CBS-TV passed on the pilot for the WWE films produced tv drama that was to star Mick Foley. UPN has shown interest, but wants the show spiced up with more sex and stuff, but they haven't ordered a pilot to be filmed. -Vince's latest offer to Bret Hart was to appear at WMXX and be given the oppurtunity to make a speech at the show. He didn't make either a hall of fame offer or suggest any offer in participating in an angle on the show with the knowledge that Hart would almost surely not do, so no point in asking although the two have been on cordial terms for the past year. Pretty much everyone agrees that the idea of using Hart in the finish or even an in-ring celebration if or when Benoit goes over for the World title would be the wrong thing to do because too much of the emphasis would be on Hart's return and would take away from the angle that needs to get over, which is Benoit finally winning the big one. Speculation is that Benoit will still win the title at Mania, although many are wondering if Vince will go all the way with the plan because of the recent crowd reactions to Benoit on Raw. **Side note to this bit of news** In the Miscellaneous section of the Observer, there was a bit about an indy in Hawaii recently where AJ Styles beat Teddy Hart in the main event of a tour for a group called World Pacific Championship Wrestling. After the match, Bret came out and congradulated both men on having a great match. Some 3 hours before the show at a nearby K-Mart autograph session, Bret Hart told some 1,000 fans that he would rather work a show with people he grew up watching like Snuka and Muraco (who were also on the tour) than be at WrestleMania. Writers note: I can't say I blame the guy. -Besides Jesse Ventura and Billy Graham, WWE also contacted Bobby Heenan, Sgt Slaughter, Bob Backlund, Greg Valentine, and Tito Santana about the Hall of Shame..uh..I mean..Fame for WMXX. There looks to be no chance of Bruno Sammartino coming to the show. Writer's note: can't say I blame this guy either. -Blade:Trinity finished shooting and HHH looks to be full time again until his Western Movie project begins shooting, which is scheduled for sometime after Mania. -Apparantly the original Rumble finish was supposed to be Angle and Benoit with Benoit going over. (as in win, not over the top rope) It was changed instead to make Show appear to be a Monster and they ended up doing the proposed Angle/Benoit finish during the SD only mini Rumble with Guerrero/Angle instead. -WWE Originals fell this week to No. 40 on the charts with 29,590 sales. Within the music industry, this doesn't look like it will end up a money making project. Writer's note: HA HA HA HA HA!! Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter and of course, Mr. Dave Meltzer.
  2. Correction. Guns N Roses WAS a great band. They are an embarassment now, especially Axl. After watching the debacle a year ago at the MTV Music Awards where Axl and GNR finished the show, I'd be happy as pie to never have to see them perform live again. God, Axl is a fucking freak now. I think I'll pass on the "Axl Rose Experience" and hope to God I get one, maybe two matches that break the 3 star barrier on a five plus hour wrestling show. Layzie Bone performing with GNR just ups the freak show factor that much more. Plus it pisses all over a now classic song. All the members of Bone suck ass anyways. Why doesn't WWE just have a wrestling show for WMXX? It can't be THAT fucking hard, can it? We are already going to have an Industrial Light and Magic show with Taker vs Kane, I really don't need to see a makeshift GNR and Axl "my beard now grows behind my ears from the facelift" Rose making complete asses of themselves on the biggest promoted wrestling show of the year.
  3. I say leave both of the fucks off the show. WMXX should be the springboard to something new. WWE should quit wallowing in the shit from the old people and move the fuck on. Just because it's WMXX doesn't mean we have to get all nostalgic and shit for old fuckers who are going to do nothing but suck away all the heat from the guys who are going to bring it in the ring that night. WMXX is going to run 5 fucking hours. You don't think Hogan and Hart won't bring the crowd to a high? That's great. That's just what we need. Hart or Hogan showing up right before Angle/Eddy or HHH/Benoit so we can watch a title match in fucking silence. Bottom Line: Leave the old fuckers at home and let WMXX be the dawn of a new era, not overshadowing of current talent that desperately needs to get over.
  4. While I want Shawn out of the ME at WMXX, I really don't want to see Flair/Shawn again. I don't think they can have a good match period. People have to remember that Flair is shriveled up and can no longer have good matches. (smarks, quit fooling yourselves) Shawn and Flair RIGHT NOW just don't have it. I think people have a time capsule that they see these men in and think they can still go. Shawn still can. Problem is Flair can't. Flair hasn't had one intriguing match since he lost to HHH in NC where Flair was paraded around the ring when cameras were shut off. Bottom line: Leave Flair the fuck off the WMXX card.
  5. While NJ Juniors work has sucked considerably for the last several years because of the influence of MMA, the NJ Junior period of 1989-1996 has shown the wrestling world some of the best matches, ever.
  6. The differences between Cena and Orton are that Cena has been given an easy gimmick that fits him and is easier to get over. Orton's gimmick of being a legend killer/asshole is harder to pull off, but I think he's getting there. In ring, they are the same: godawful. Cena just has the privelege of working with SD guys who can actually work a half decent match. Orton doesn't have that same privelege. They both suck in the ring equally and were brought in way, way too early from OVW.
  7. I caught the Atlantis vs Hijo de Perro Aguayo match. While it was ok, methinks it's time for Atlantis to hang it up. Most of the technical screwups I saw were from him not being as agile as he used to be. No Bucanero, Guerrero, or Shocker
  8. This is redundant. Check the other threads in this folder. You don't need to see the list to know those people are annoying. Plus the list is missing the most annoying people in wrestling for 2003.... The McMahon Family
  9. I gotta agree with 'Sault on this one. The Eddy/Angle thing really did come out of nowhere and just because it is WWE, doesn't mean it's excusable and AS has a right to hold WWE Creative i.e. Vince accountable for the shitty ass storyline they have cooked up for Angle and Eddy. All the reasons given like "Angle is sticking up for integrity" and whatnot are really reaching, even for smark levels. Why couldn't they have just started Angle and Eddy somehow in the ring? Some chance meeting in the ring like a dream partner match where both men could at least have started the feud in the ring. Not the lame ass way it was with Angle just sticking his nose in Eddy and Chavo's business for no real apparant reason whatsoever. I'm now banking that in the next month they'll have Angle bust out his "let me explain everything" promo to help justify the lack of creativity from the writing team. Problem with that is if no one buys it, this feud will die a horrible death. That death will be a feud that has great in ring action and zero depth to the storyline. Another thing to consider is if WWE will really give Eddy the belt. Why exactly would they give it to him anyways? Vince and Co. haven't shown me that they would be serious about pushing Eddy. Eddy's serious push should've happened 6 months ago. Brock could very well keep his belt since he goes on to WMXX and isn't jobbing to Goldberg, so it would be OK in WWE's eyes for Lesnar to have the belt going into Mania. If Angle and Eddy is not for the championship at Mania, I expect a technically great, but heatless match in March since the only thing we'll have to go on for the match is the lame ass storyline they've cooked up. The one AS has been bitching about since the beginning of this pathetic excuse for a feud.
  10. And thank God for that. I don't want to see Hogan's orange, shriveled up ass scooping anyone's heat at WMXX. I honestly don't want to see him there. Not for Nostalgia. Not for anything. I just want to see him where he's at now: at home telling all kinds of lies on how he tore his lat muscles slamming Andre at WM3. Hogan's a fag.
  11. I don't think anyone can really rush to judgement on whether or not the match will get auto ****+'s just because Benoit is in it. Sure the stage is set for them to have a good match, but you never know. Sometimes guys have off nights and sometimes, for whatever reason, certain guys timing's may be off with another. I predict it should do around 3 to 4 snowflakes, but I wouldn't set expectations so high just yet.
  12. Let's all hope to God it DOESN'T Happen. I want WMXX to be remembered as a good event. Not a geriatric and a cripple trying to steal all the heat away from guys who are finally getting a shot to be in top matches (Benoit, Guerrero) on the most heavily promoted card of the year.
  13. I think Cena will be in early and eliminated midway through and he'll either throw out Big Show or vice versa to set up their No Way Out match. My final four will be Goldberg, Benoit, Angle, and Kane. I also think this will have tons of overbooking and outside interference. Don't forget that Taker will probrably come back to cost Kane and Foley may possibly cost Orton.
  14. Here are the latest notes from the latest edition of the Observer. -The 2/7 show at the Saitama Arena is expected to sellout according to those in Japan. It's Austin's first tour of Japan since he became Stone Cold. He worked several times for New Japan during his WCW days, including the now famous NWA title match with Masahiro Chono where he gave Chono a tombstone very similar to the one he got from Owen Hart and started Chono on a career filled with similar neck problems as Austin. (comment: karma's a bitch, ain't it?) -Every major Japanese Promotion, including K-1, Pride, All Japan, New Japan, and NOAH within the past two months has made some sort of bid to get WWE talent for major shows in 2004. Philosophy right now in WWE is to do one Raw and Smackdown tour per year in Japan. There is no interest in sending talent to work for Japanese promotions. Most have approached with the idea of paying big money to bring in top stars to lose to native stars, which WWE isn't interested in. -NOAH is attempting to bring in Angle and Lesnar for the Tokyo Dome show in august, but again, there is no interest. Pride wants a WWE rep in it's Grand Prix Tournament this year, Angle or Lesnar being the preferable choices. While nobody has numbers, Pride is willing to pay big money because they know it would take that to get the stars of that level to participate in shoot matches. But there is no way that will happen. -Scheduled No Way Out card on 2/15 as of this weekend is Lesnar/Guerrero for the title, Cena/Show for the US title, and Rey/Chavo for the cruiserweight title. -Angle has been training in the ring with the guys at the tapings and has told people he is feeling fine. He had been cleared to wrestle a couple of weeks ago, but the company wanted him to be cautious. Angle was on Mark Madden's radio show this past week saying he doesn't think his career can take another neck operation. He said he won't be taking any more chair shots to the head and he would be slowing down his matches. Madden asked Angle about the Olympics and Angle said if he competed, he'd get his ass kicked. He said he started to train for it but between shoulder, neck, and knee problems, there was no way. -There is a lot of talk about doing the cruiserweight battle royal at WMXX. It may wind up being a pinfall battle royal as opposed to an over the top rope one since the cruiserweight style of match involves flying over the top ropes for a lot of offensive moves. They are thinking 10 men which would include Rey, Chavo, Kidman, Tajiri, Nunzio, Akio, and Noble. There was talk of Dean Malenko coming out of retirement for this match, but Dave is pretty sure that ain't happening. -Heyman is now a bigger part of the creative staff, but his duties are largely house show presentation. Ross, Heyman, and John Laurinitis are doing the house show booking with the idea of throwing in curves and interviews at the shoe to give it a more TV feel. -When Rock made his surprise appearance in Dec, he had so much fun he said he was going to clear his schedule for January. as well as work some in March to lead to WMXX. While it's not a lock, there is a good chance he'll be at the Rumble as a surprise appearance. -Rock donated $10,000 this past week for 30,000 pounds of rice, spam, corned beef, cooking oil, and other food for the island of Samoa which will be arriving next week. Samoa was hit with a cyclone recently. Rock was contacted by his grandmother who now lives in a village in Samoa, saying the people in her area need food and he immediately wrote out a check to a supermarket in Kailua, Hawaii to send food. -Regarding Foley. The feeling among those who know the story and where it's going is that nobody in wrestling would be able to do this story without burying themselves but Foley. This is a story Foley brought to Vince, and most if not all of the layout and the timing is his. One of the key parts of the story is to make Orton, which the company really needs. Foley and Rock need to do well because if people don't see Orton as a top guy, their return at Mania won't mean as much. There it is. Discuss. Bitch. Moan. Gripe. Rejoice. I don't care. Just sound intelligent doing it.
  15. Sorry fellas. Worse wrestler of the year was Nathan Jones. Although he wasn't in WWE all that long, he sucked so bad it was memorable.
  16. HHH vs HBK-*** No way I'm going over 4 for a prediction, even if it does contain HBK. Rumble-N/A I hate Scott Keith, but I agree with his don't rate battle royals policy. It's all dependent on how they arrange for who to eliminate whoever at the right times. The match drama is made up more by the order of who comes in and who is eliminated by whom than by the actual work of the wrestlers. That would give credit to the bookers, which I refuse to do during this day and age of wrestling. Flair/Bautista vs Dudley's Tables Match-* That's actually a one star, not a negative. However I can see these 4 men getting into negative stars for this match. I have no motivation at all to see this potential drivel. I'm calling this to be the shittiest match of the night. Lesnar vs Holly-** This match got saved from worse match of the night because of the lameass tables match. This won't be worthy of being a title match on the second biggest show of the year, but it will probrably garner some decent crowd heat to mask the mediocre ring work these 2 will bring. Chavo vs Eddy-*** Eddy being in the ring with someone like Chavo immediately gets the match to the 3 snowflake range, although if Chavo just cruises, I could see this disappointing a lot of smarks. Rey vs Knoble-*** Should be good. If given the right amount of time and a clean finish, will make a great opener. However, this is WWE, what are the chances of a clean finish? Expect Tajiri and Co. to interfere and take the star range off this bad boy down a snowflake or two.
  17. Fuck a Cena rap or wrestling DVD. The motherfucker has had one good match in the company. (vs Angle,***'s IMO, and that's generous) While his pre match rhymes are nifty at times, I wouldn't pay any money for a fucking DVD about John Cena making a fucking rap song. He is ok for a pre match spiel, but he is not God's gift to hip hop and he is not as charismatic as people make him out to be. My prediction: The Cena DVD will suck balls, whether it be about his wrestling or his rapping.
  18. While I think that scenario that Zack laid out isn't bad, my problem is they havent hinted at Brock/Eddy in the slightest. Right now it's just a net rumor. If the foundation for Brock/Eddy had been set already, then I could see Angle's reasoning. But Angle just kind of stuck his nose in Eddy's business and Brock/Eddy hasn't even had a build up yet. There is also no hint that Angle is upset about Eddy being a lie, cheat, or stealing person. That could come out later, but I still don't believe in the reasoning for Angle to want to get involved with Eddy at all.
  19. How about no WWF legends show up? Shit, why does everyone think that WWE/F needs to have some legends show up just because it's WMXX? I think it's stupid. WWE never really honors these people properly anyways. I don't blame people like Bruno for refusing to show up. Why should he? He did his service for Vince and they treated him like shit after he got out. That's why their Hall of Fame is a sham. Because unless you sucked Vince Jr's cock, you weren't getting in. They didn't even have Billy Graham or Bruno in that Hall of Fame, which shoots the credibility of the Hall straight to hell. I just want a wrestling show for WMXX, not WWE pretending to honor it's legends with a bullshit ceremony. Note to any legends: stay the fuck away from WMXX!!!
  20. AS is all over this one and he's right. Angle has no real reason to want to get involved with Eddy right now. That is why the angle seems stupid. It's out of left field as to why Angle would even give two shits about Eddy. Saying he knows Eddy could win the Rumble is pretty weak because as Anglesault said, Kurt should then come after everyone.
  21. Seeing as Brock and Goldberg are on separate brands, the seeds for their feud must be sewn at the Rumble this weekend. I can see both men jumping shows for a few weeks after Rumble to get to WM, but how do you think they will get there? What is the most logical (in other words, anti-WWE) way they can get these 2 guys on their path to WM? They are definitely going to have to have some backstage interaction at the Rumble to get the fire stoked. What do you think will be done?
  22. I live in Sacramento for the last 13 years, so occasionally I've met a few Kings players in my life. I used to work in a movie theatre about 10 years ago and sold tickets to Mitch Richmond, Olden Polynice, and Spud Webb. I've seen Vlade Divac and Peja in the downtown area together at night a few times because Vlade's wife owns a night club there. The 49ers used to hold training camp a few miles from my old movie theatre. I saw Steve Young go into see Lion King. There was a huge 49ers fan who worked as cleanup after theatres are done with a show and the guy went into the theatre looking for Steve to get an autograph. Quite embarassing.
  23. " Fuck, WO subscribers are fucking idiots." I'll just assume you weren't talking about me. Also, non subscribers vote as well. The voting template was on the WO website. I'm betting there were quite a bit of non subscribers voting here.
  24. I would, but then I'd a) get tired of typing out every single thing b) this is WWE folder. Perhaps I may post the whole thing in General Wrestling folder
