I'd go with WCW right before Starcade 97 (like Zack said) in order to not screw up Bret's debut or stopping the Sting/Hogan debacle. or WWF 2001 to do the Invasion angle properly.

I reckon if Jerry had total control of the book, he'd have Joe eating raw fish and chicken and wearing a grass headress as he entered the ring.

Check this image out... Pretty surreal, eh?

Earvin "Magic" Johnson Magic might as well be the man's name. Also, because I am a Redskins fan, John Riggins was nicknamed "Diesel" before Kevin Nash was.

Hopefully one of the provisions to Bret agreeing to work the DVD will be that they are only allowed to focus on the Montreal screwjob for a total of 10 minutes of the entire DVD. The rest of the content should be used as a celebration of Bret's storied career. Saying that, I bet half or more of the DVD is spent on Montreal.

OAO SD thread for 8/4/05, blah, blah, blah...

The Eddie/Rey thing really pisses me off. I knew last week the impending stupidity to come, but now we have lawyers and outside forces involved in this and it's dumb. I want to see Rey and Eddie's feud built on and continuued through hatred and competition. Not custody for a kid. The lame thing is they used Rey's real son. How does this look 10 years or so down the line when you look and see that you said your son really isn't yours, but your enemy's, and that you said this just to get a lame angle over? Mind numbingly dumb. -
Actually, WWF was in their whole "shades of grey" dealie since a lot of the factions like DOA, Los Boricuas, and the Nation were all heels as well and they were all feuding with each other at the time. WWF stayed that way for awhile too because when they started up the DX/Nation feud, DX had were still heels. The crowd was actually starting to babyface them a bit before they started up with the Nation. Of course they would, who wouldnt get behind guys percieved as rebels who don't give a fuck and don't lose very often?

This isn't news, Mike. You didn't know? It's one of those I married my producer deals.

Dames- pretty good guy. Except when he isn't answering any of the PM's I've sent him in the last year. For that, he gets a tiny FU from me. Other than that, thanks for the time here, Dames.

Actually, Steph's zero touch with reality would be voided some if her father weren't even more out of touch with reality. Remember, Vince gets final say of what goes on and what doesn't go on his TV, not Steph. Steph is a huge factor is the hiring of people with no product knowledge and whatnot, but just remember they ALL answer to Vince in the end and execute his vision.

Hell, you want cliche, just tune into Raw and listen to JR and King. You could go back 4 years and notice that except the storylines, they haven't changed a smidge. The Raw broadcast is one big cliche that I'm sick of.

Just the same. Bottom line is a WCW match on a WWF card is going to get crapped on whether it's on TV or not because the WWF crowd doesn't want to see that. They came for WWF. Now, if it were an interpromtional match featuring a guy from WCW vs WWF, it'd be a different reaction.

The biggest reason the crowd killed Booker/Buff in Tacoma was they were conditioned to. Have been for years. They have been told for years WCW was second rate and WWF/E was always top dog. What drew the crowd was WWF. What they got at the end was a WCW match, and with guys who were not associated as THE stars of WCW. Sorry, even though Booker was on top at the end, when Booker was on top in WCW, it was at it's lowest point ever. It didn't help Booker and Buff had one of the crappiest matches ever, but the crowd was going to hate it no matter what IMO.

I could only see Vince doing it if Bret were to sign over complete control of his upcoming book.

Shawn was refusing to do the job. He was making noises all week up to WM 14 that he wasn't going to put Austin over, and was flat out saying that he wasn't going to do the job. Undertaker made it clear that he was going to do the job in the ring, or else he'd do the job for real when he got to the back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I heard it a little differently. I heard Shawn was refusing to job all the way up to the day of the show, and then Vince had finally convinced Shawn (or threatened him, who knows) to do the job on the day of WM14. Taker was just there to make sure Shawn actually did the job as well as put Austin over without any shenanigans.

If Russo's Born again Christianity is to be believed, I couldn't see him lasting very long with the current WWE product. I just saw Russo on the Ultimate Insider's DVD and on the extras, he wouldn't stay to watch a death match tournament because it was against his morals. Does that sound like the Russo we all know and hate?

Footlong Southwest Chipotle cheese steak on wheat, sour cream and onion chips, and raspberry iced tea.

I'm in 100% agreement with this. It's a big reason why I'm for Bret being involved with his DVD. He would give it the quality control it needs and he seems to have moved on some since Montreal. WWE hasn't, which is why the current title is in place. They will NEVER be over Montreal.

Nothing good can come from this latest "aquisition".

Velocity + Ongoing SmackDown Spoilers
Dangerous A replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
If you can actually envision Vince telling them in their headsets to put over a cruiserweight match on Velocity, then this can actually happen since Vince is in their headsets constantly telling them what to put over and such. Can you envision it? Didn't think so. -
It was more that HBK was going to work the match, but not really put Austin over and dick with him like kicking out right at the count of 3 or popping right up after the stunner. The finish was already set in stone, it was just that Taker recognized that HBK might try to muck up Austin's ascension, so he not so subtltey threatened him before the match.

I heard this on Cold Pizza from one of their baseball analysts. They said in 1998 or 1999, Palmiero made a plea to Clinton to get his brother out of Cuba as a favor. Clinton made it happen. Then, when Palmiero was in front of Congress in March, he goes and straight lies to them. How about that? You go and ask the government for a favor and it obliges and then you go and lie your ass off to them later when the heat comes down. I'm not saying I totally agree, just thought I'd throw that out there.
