  1. I don't think ECW collapsed due to content reasons, or which wrestlers they had or were pushing. They still managed to draw strong crowds on a consistent basis, so their popularity was there even if "the buzz" wasn't. They collapsed due to financial reasons when they decided to compete on a national level with WCW and the WWE. If you look at all their debts, the biggest one was to Acclaim for the videogame. Why did ECW need a videogame? The strong crowds were strong for a small independent company but couldn't sustain a national promotion. So you didn't have a large enough audience to buy that videogame. You didn't have enough fans to pay $100,000 contracts. You didn't have enough fans to warrant advertisers to pay money to be featured on your television show, or to have a network pay enough to have you, and it wasn't enough to cover television production costs. ECW didn't die because the fans weren't there, they died because of stupid marketing decisions by Paul. They'd still be alive and kicking if he didn't actually try to compete with the WWE and WCW, rather than just pretending he was when the company was at it's "peak".
  2. Well. If it had to be anyone seeing the movie before me. I'm glad its you 3 and not Mole. Now you will answer my questions. - Who was the best actor of the group? - Who was the best out of the non-cast? - Who looked the hottest? - Do they say the word "Shiny"? - Which episode is this the most closest to?
  3. You go to hell, now, Hartfan.
  4. Let's try to connect the dots. 1. Hurley owns the company Locke works for. 2. Sawyer met Jacks dad in a bar. 3. Sawyer was in the police station when Boone was talking to an officer.
  5. I was walking out of a convenience store today and this woman parked right in front of the door in a no parking space/walking area. I usually don't care about this, because she probably wouldn't have taken more than a minute in the store so it wouldn't really bother anyone, but the thing is - THERE WAS AN OPEN PARKING SPACE RIGHT NEXT TO HER!! Infact, there were MAYBE 4 cars in a parking lot that could hold almost 20. I guess she really needed to save those precious 2 seconds. You know when lanes merge? I really can't stand people who wait until the last second to get into the merged lane. I think that what defines much of what bothers me in life - those who take advantage of other people's goodwill and patience, but can't spare any of their own. People can be real assfucks sometimes.
  6. YOU BITCH!!!!!!!!!
  7. Jesus Christ Curry, you've really gone and done it this time.
  8. Claire saying she didn't believe in fate directly related to her babies kidnapping and the fortune teller saying to her "if you don't raise this baby, bad things will happen". Claire was in great doubt at the time, so she was trying to convince herself that fate didn't exist because if it did then the fortune tellers words would come true. Now that she has the baby back, it will be interesting to see/hear her disposition. A hypothetical timeline may put some things into perspective. 17th Century - Pirates, carrying slaves from Africa, shipwreck on the island. 1940's - The US government discovers the island while fighting Japan in WWII. They see the island as a tactical resource and decide to use it as a military base. However, they soon discover the island has mystical powers and instead decide to set up a research station. The war ends, but the government still sees use for it. They have an encounter with the locals, and decide they must set up a security system that appears to have mysical properties (to fool the locals) but in reality is just a series of underground tunnels, wires, and explosives...oh, and smoke and mirrors 1980's - Danielle and company crash on the island. The rest of the crew are killed. 1990's - Drug traffikers crash on the island. 2000's - Oceanic Flight 815 crashes on the island.
  9. Ok, one more post... - Sawyer singing "Redemption Song" - Michael asking Sawyer if he is a Hero or if he wants to Die - Sawyer saying he ain't a hero Significance?
  10. Ok, here's my theory. There is a battle between Jack and Locke, that is clear. They have played up tension between the two all year, but until now only Locke has realized that Jack is a threat. Locke, though, isn't looking to eliminate Jack, but rather he is looking to elevate Jack. Locke knows the value of duality - as shown by his conversation with Walt (one black, one white) - so he knows that Jack is an important player in his (Lockes) fate. The ultimate battle is between Science and Religion/Faith. How I see it right now, you have two types of people who have been on the island - the scientists who created the hatch and the security system, who want to study the island, and the people of faith (the others) who are on the island to worshop it. Now, we know that the others exist, but we do not know if the scientists are still on the island. The scientists could have came in the 1950's, which was -I believe- when the ship mentioned in Hurley's episode was dated. That ship could have found an island and set up an observation post. The religious people could have been there longer. They could have even been on the pirate ship and survived there for hundreds of years. Infact, the religious people could have killed the scientists and taken their technology (the boat), which gives some indication of where Jack/Locke may go. I strongly suggest checking out this Paradise Lost site. If you read the simplied summary, it gets kinda freaky in how LOST manages to parallel it. http://www.paradiselost.org/novel.html
  11. It's better off that Bo lost. He's better off putting out a depressed "I can't believe I lost" record than a peppy "I can't believe I won" record. Bo shouldn't be happy, he should always be in pain, and the music he makes expresses that pain. Bo shouldn't sing about falling in love, he sings about breaking up.
  12. I can't see how anyone who considered themselves an ECW fan could actually like this crap. ECW, to me, was the exact opposite of what the WWE is doing with it. It looks like the WWE is trying to pull another InVasion number by putting three groups in there. Thing is, that was 4 years ago. The only thing the WWE got right was the name of the show, and really, the WWE never had a problem with play-on-words. Here's an idea, rather than selling it as "Smackdown Guyz vs. Raw Guyz. vs. ECW guysz" how about announcing some matches and then put on examples of the kind of wrestling that will be seen at the show (other than the shitty hardcore stuff Benoit and Tajiri did - hey, how about airing ECW matches on Raw and Smackdown leading up to the PPV?). As is, this ECW PPV is just a WWE PPV, with WWE wrestlers, in WWE matches. I don't buy WWE PPV's, so why the fuck would I buy this one?
  13. When it comes down to trusting HTQ or Shawn Michaels, I go with what God tells me.
  14. What I love most about the show is how it has progressed. The pilot seemed so long ago. A lifetime, even. The physical transformations, and reminding us of it in the flashbacks, have been amazing. I was thinking, watching the episode again, "remember when Jack first met Kate?", and "remember when Jin was fighting Michael over that watch?" So much has happened and changed. Very rewarding.
  15. Maybe the others took Claire because there was a prophecy about a young child who will *insert grand scheme here*. But then they found out it wasn't that baby because *insert reason here*. So they went for the next closest thing. They let Claire go after whiping her mind, Danielle saw an opportunity to get a baby and tried to get her (and it). OOR Danielle stopped Ethan with a trap, tried to get Claire, Claire ran away, Ethan came to and they (Dan and Ethan) ended up stopping each other.
  16. A nice touch when watching the show again was when the Hurley flashbacks were going, the numbers were all over it. In particular, the girl baseball (soccer?) team who all had them on their backs.
  17. I was wondering why Sayid brought Charley to the airplane. It had to be intentional, and only he (Sayid) and Locke know about the plane. I think Sayid wants Charley on his side - it is not unknown for governments to hook soldiers on drugs to make them loyal and do whatever they (they gov) want. Sayid knows that Charley can kill a man, and he (Sayid) could probably figure out that Charley -a rock star- would have drug addictions and could be controlled. So, as LOTC said, the question becomes whose side is Sayid on? I think it's Jacks side. Charley already stated his allegence with Locke, Locke got Charley kicked off the drugs, so why would Locke want Charley on his side when he's already on his side?
  18. I think LOST is one of the only shows that really, REALLY, fucks with me. Like, geniuinely surprises the fuck out of me. I can't think of any other show that has done that on such a level. I can say with 100% certainty that I didn't see the Walt thing coming, even though it makes perfect sense now that I look back. And anyone thinking that they have no material for more seasons, whatcha thinking now?~! I think this is my favourite show ever. Sorry Firefly. Sorry Angel. Sorry Joss... I'm with a new J now.
  19. FUCKING HELL! They can't just, you know, NOT HAVE A CLIFFHANGER! "They were after the boy" and then it being Walt was fucking insane. Sawyer getting shot - insane. Hurley seeing the numbers - insane. Oh my jesus. Jacks conversation with Locke, Locke on the plane, Hurley giving Walt the Thumbs Up, Hurley reading the comic book, Charlie with the heroin, Artz helping out Claire, Boone with the puffer... Oh, AND THE OTHERS ON THE SHIP! Man, I was like "no way... that's not a boat... oh shit, that's a boat.... they can't be saved, can they? Oh shit, they look like pirates... OH SHIT, either the others or the government... OOOOOH SNAP THEY'REAFTERWALTNIGGANOOOOOO! Fucking cliffhangers...
  20. The story of Pandoras box was, that after it was opened, the only thing that was left was Hope. The look on Lockes face was amazing. How Sayid led Charlie to the heroin was amazing. This is, quite possibly, one of the best television watching experiences I have ever had. Love it.
  21. So far, this is not only one of the best LOST episodes ever, it's one of the best Season Finales ever. My god, all the references and inside jokes. "Who the hell is Hugo, and what's he doin with 120 million dollars?" "Uh, Jack... you've got a piece of Artz on you" *Jack looks back*
  22. OOOOOOOH SNAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!!! "Why did I do that to you~!>?~}?|" So far, this episode has blown my mind TWICE in two fucking segments. Locke and Jack talking to each other, Jack saying "you like to play games", they have the greatest feud going. Fuck yeah, RRR: Getting tired of running down stairs for the commercial breaks.
  23. Artz breaking kayfabe and talking about how there are 40 people on the island was one of the greatest moments in television... ever...
  24. OIGFTKEAN (*TRAJDFXL:* )(!&!!!!!!!!!!!! Artz is the greatest character to have ever lasted 3 episodes!!!!!!!! The clique stuff was amazing. WHY DID HE HAVE TO GO SO SOOON!>?!>
  25. I remember watching at the time, being a UFC fan, and accrediting Shamrock with bringing about the tap out in the WWE. Nothing concrete here, just something I remember.
