I'd either get rid of Fey or tone her the fuck down, because the show has gotten way too chicky. I was surprised there wasn't a gay sketch on the show, considering the GSPSA (Gay Sketch Per Show Average) is about 4. When Maya Rudolph is your go-to guy, your Phil Hartman, then the show if fucked. I don't hate Rudolph, but she doesn't improve scenes, she's not a star, and that's what they need. Someone who you can write shit for and that will still make it funny. That's what Will Ferrell did tonight. The movie sketch near the end would have been horrible (and was going badly for a while) but Will managed to make me laugh a bunch of times with it.

I agree. At points, I was laughing very hard.

Keenan said "Lie cheat and steal" earlier on, so I imagine the wrestling reference was intentional. The TVfunhouse thing was too dark and uncomfortable for me.

Saying a Wrestlers acting is bad is like saying a Porn Actresses acting is bad. I don't care if you're right or not in an "acting" sense, it's still silly to say. A porn actress isn't there to act, she's there to fuck. A wrestler isn't there to act, he's there to wrestle. Anything inbetween is meant to lead towards the fucking/wrestling. I don't think you can say a wrestler is a bad actor in a wrestling environment, since there have been tons of "bad actors" in wrestling that still are able to get over. It's not a real relevant point. The bar is so low in wrestling that it's non-existant. It's just a bad perspective to look at wrestling with, and IMO isn't really a valid criticism against a wrestler. I can't imagine people going to WWE shows for the stories or the acting. It's not even community-access level in terms of quality.

But it does not take acting ability to be Hulk Hogan. It does not take acting ability to be Steve Austin. You look at their supposed "characters", and then you look at any character on any WB television show and they are miles apart in terms of depth. Wrestling is very basic storytelling, where the appeal is ultimately seeing 2 guys beat the shit out of each other. Promos are designed to make you want to see which ever 2 guys beat the shit out of each other. What gets over in the ring - facial expressions, grunting, blood, physical selling - wouldn't get over on the screen, or the stage, to regular movie-going or theatre-going audiences. To say you don't buy someones "acting" in wrestling is silly. Wrestling is a different animal. The disconnect comes in the WWE trying to format their shows like a television show, rather than a wrestling show. Benjamin being a bad actor means shit; a wrestler is not an actor. We can use words like "character", "performance", "storylines", "motivation", "dialogue", "acting", "suspension of disbelief" and all these other film terms to describe things in wrestling because they are relatable descriptions, they are approximations, but ultimately that's all they are, because the objective of wrestling is different from the objective of acting. Acting is meant to elicit an emotional response from the audience, Wrestling is meant to get someone to pay money to see two people fight each other. You go back 100 years, and that's what wrestling was, and you look at today and that's what wrestling still is. The WWE, and I'd say Stephanie McMahon and Kevin Dunn in particular, are trying to shift the paradigm and it's a losing battle. Wrestlers are Wrestlers. Wrestlers are not actors. No one gets in to wrestling thinking "this is my big acting break" except women (and they fail worse than the men when on-screen), so the amount of "good actors" in wrestling will be very, very, slim.

Do you find out that Darla is pregnant in Heartthrob? -
The objective of acting is different than the objective of cutting promos. Promos, in wrestling, is meant to make people want to pay money. To hype up a match. You don't have to be a great actor to do that. Hulk Hogan was not a great actor, as shown in his films, but the man could get people to pay to see him wrestle. It's a different animal. That's why you don't see many successful wrestling/acting crossovers, because cutting promos is different from reciting dialogue. Unfortunately, the WWE doesn't realize this, which is why Benjamin doesn't come off well - he isn't cutting promos, he is reciting dialogue.

There are about 2 or 3 "good" actors in the WWE. And I can only really think of Christian and Rosie. I don't really expect much in the acting department. Acting, however, isn't wrestling... even in promos...

Was that Kumar/Taj in the limo? Though "Billy" was a tremendous episode, they should have kept that guy longer. Such great build up in such a short amount of time. -
He's "boring" on the mic because the writing of his promos suck. He just shouldn't be cutting the promos that he's cutting, his personality doesn't "fit" them. That's a writing error. The guy is charismatic though. His facial expressions are great, he has a unique look (being one of the few black guys helps), and his voice is perfect for a certain kind of promos (very deep voice, they should be making him darth vader and instead he's lord helmet, with the dialogue he's spewing.) And even with the bad writing, his delivery is clear, he rarely goofs-up, and he puts the effort in saying it.

I was watching an early Season 3 episode where we first meet skip (*checking* That Vision Thing) and GODDAMN if that isn't one of the most relevant episodes EVER. - Intro of Skip, who is tied in with Jasmine - Intro of Billy, who ends up greatly effecting the Gunn/Wes/Fred lo-tri. - Intro of Pregnant Darla, which ends up being Connor -
Do you know what you are talking about?

Tin Man? -
You would like that?? Coach and Todd, I believe, do Heat. They sound exactly the same. The best part of the show is trying to figure out who is saying what.

I think the biggest shocker tonight was Jenn voting for Caryn. Something went on there that we never saw. That was one of the better Survivors that I have seen, and this final 4 is dangerous. I don't know why Tom isn't working Jenn, because she's the key to the whole thing - not Katie. Tom should promise Jenn to bring her to the final 4, telling her that there is no way to break up Ian and Katie. Jenn has seen Katie bullshit TWICE now, both with Greg and Caryn... hell, 3 times with Steph. A final 3 with Ian and Katie would be death for her. If she paired with Tom, she'd almost be guaranteed a spot in the final 2, plus she'd have a chance to win considering she already has Gregs vote and probably Caryns.

I watched UFC 35: Throwdown the other day... Jens Pulver vs. BJ Penn - I expected more from these two. About midway through the 3rd round I decided to skip ahead. Even though I knew it wasn't going to be a barnburner, I was still disappointed. Ricco Rodriguez vs. Jeff Monson - this was ok. It's still funny to see Ricco being built up after they discarded him after his loss to Sylvia. The cartwheel was fun, and he threw some good knees. Dave Menne vs. Murilo Bustamante - I love the early-Zuffa champions. It seems so very long ago. An ok fight, a good final shot from Busta. Chuck Liddell vs. Amar Suloev - Not bad, but not very good stand up fight either. Mostly leg kicks and the occasional combination. It's weird seeing Chuck get booed, considering he's the most popular fighter in the UFC now. Ricardo Almeida vs. Andrei Semenov - Why haven't I heard this fight pimped? THIS IS AWESOME! A UFC MOTYC IMO (LOL). Almedia was swanktacular with some of his submissions (going from an triangle to an armbar to a LEG BAR~! in fluid motions), the action was constant, and the finish came out of no where. Overall, it was an OK show. Couture, even then, was great on commentary. Goldberg has improved a lot since then. Thank god they got rid of Osbourne. He's the Mike Tenay of MMA... good for maybe a fight or two, but shouldn't be on constantly. Good knowledge, but little enthusiasm. Rogan is much better in that spot. If Randy ever retires, they should bring him in on a permanent basis. So good. The style of the PPV was different, which is really interesting watching now. It's been a while since I've seen shows from this era, which is strange saying ("era") because it was just 2/3 years ago. The UFC and Zuffa have definitely made some improvements, and yet they still keep some of the silly stuff (constant post-fight interviews, even when they shouldn't put some guys on the mic; constantly talking about "the mainstream" and almost undermining the intelligence of those watching) -
I like how they reversed the roles of Sayid and Locke. Locke prevented Sayid from finding the transmitter because there was a warning that said "it killed them all" and all the signs pointed to 'don't find it'. Now, Sayid is trying to prevent Locke from opening the hatch because signs say 'don't open it', and then you have Want saying "don't open it'. It will be interesting to see if Locke heeds the warning, and if he doesn't, what Sayid will do in response.

I <3 The Nak. I still haven't figured out why Silva sucks against Yoshida. I refuse to believe he has been told to carry him. I can only assume it's because Silva fears Judokas and their hip throws. -
I had a dream last night. It started off with me on Survivor, the current incarnation. We met some tribespeople with huts made of metal sheeting. Then it turned into LOST, with the Survivor people replaced by Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. Since Monsoon season is coming up there was this big storm abrewin. Like, end-of-the-world-ish type storm. It got kinda crazy. After the storm, we went back to camp and saw Sayid lying on a bed of leaves; the phone rang and I woke up before we could see if he was dead or not. That would be an awesome episode, though. If there was a huge storm that fucked everything and everyone up. Everything in the episode was based on preparing for the storm and then the aftermath of it.

Romero is awful. All of the WWE announcers are awful. Maybe only Tazz is passable. If "He gets their names right" and "He isn't Todd Grisham" are the best things you can say about him, then he's awful.

Me after reading that: "Wow...Wow..... ..... ...Wow...." The Nak vs. Silva - AWESOME~! Shogun vs. Noguiera - AWESOME~! Vovchanchyn vs. Overeem - AWESOME~! Sak vs. Arona - ABOVE AVERAGE~! It was the second worst pairing for Shogun, but it's much better than having to face Arona. TON doesn't have the takedowns that Arona or Babalu have, and even better is willing to initially stand with Shogun. I think the winner of this fight will go on to win the tournament, because if TON wins, he just sub'd a fighter similar to Wanderlei. And if Shogun wins, well... he fucking rules. Unless he fights Arona in the semis, which would be dangerous. Nakamura vs. Silva is almost a dream match for me. Silva showed he had problems with Yoshidas clinch, and Nakamura is just as dangerous in there and has better stand up than Yoshida, and uses his judo more effectively in MMA IMO. The odds will definitely favour Silva, but Nakamura has a chance. Can the pupil avenge the teachers loss? Vovchanchyn vs. Overeem has two nifty layers as well, with Igor beating Alistairs brother, and the two being notable strikers. Arona vs. Sakuraba isn't total death for Sakuraba, but it might be for the crowd. -
Oddly enough, no one in the WWE is mad at him for sucking. Very strange priorities in the E.
