Considering that the next leg in the race is non-elimination and they went out of their way to say Uchenna and Joyce were fucked, I'm saying Uchenna and Joyce take it.

How about chugging every time Kelly was petty about something? Yeah, that's hot.

Shit, we should have had an Amazing Race drinking game. Every time the old chick said "ooooh", take a drink. We'd all be plastered within 15 minutes. And Phil gave one of the best looks after Amber made that comment at the end. Not just one eyebrow, BUT BOTH.

Goddamn, I still have that "How far is heaven" song stuck in my head. I missed all but the last 3 performances, but in watching the replays, I now understand the brilliance that is Tony Federov. That guy turns the cheese up so much higher than Clay ever could have dreamed. Clay was a gay guy who sang bad 80's ballads for 12 year old girls. Clay was naturally inclined to sing that way. Tony isn't gay, he's just European, which means he chooses to sing those songs. He should win the whole thing.

"I think I'm going to be the only one who enjoys this" Oh man, I am so gay for Amber. No wait, scratch that. Oh man, I am so heterosexual for Amber. Despite not wearing any revealing clothing, she's still, like, the hottest woman on television. And did I see... next week... BOOTY SHORTS?! AMBER~! I dunno how Ron and Kelly were more of a threat than Uchenna and Joyce, considering U&C came first a buncha times and were the leaders. But it was good for Rob and Amber to get a buffer inbetween them and second... but judging from the preview, it didn't really matter. And FINALLY, the Old Couple are DEAD! Jeeeesus.

Chris Candido: Every WCW Match He Had
RavishingRickRudo replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
"06-17-00 - WCW Worldwide - Chris Candido pinned Christopher Daniels after a top-rope headbutt" was an awesome fucking match with some really cool spots. The most notable, for me, was a sitting/bouncing (hollywood star press, splitleg) moonsault off the top rope to the outside by Daniels. -

And this is still based on one impressive win, and a bunch of other wins over cans and no names. Of course. And his performances against those cans were better than almost anyones against those same cans. Shogun has fought no one that possesses stand up skills on a better than average level, with the exception of Babalu, and, surprise, he lost to him. Babalu didn't stand with Shogun, the most notable thing he did standing was a front kick, he took Rua down - he knew better. Rampage outstruck Chuck Liddell, and also has a K-1 win over Cyril Abidi, wouldn't that put him "above average"? On the other hand Wandy has stood with Cro Cop and Hunt, both arguably in the top ten all time of K-1. Both of whom take conventional kickboxing approaches to stand up and take their time and pick their shots rather than rushing. Cro Cop was very hesitant against Silva because he was new to MMA and was worried about the takedown. Shogun is a different animal. Wanderlei's no fucking Kanehara or Shoji either, he won't stand there and let Shogun stomp his head or soccer kick him. It'll be kinda hard to stop Shogun after getting clocked. IIRC Hunt was able to do that to Wandy. So Wand got KO'd by Belfort, big deal, that was five years ago, everyone gets knocked out sometime (excepting Fedor the machine). And Silva just-so-happened to get KO'd when someone caught him with a punch and kept on him... which is what I have been saying is the key to defeating him. Which is what Shogun would do. Big Deal indeed. And your argument about Shogun and Cro Cop and the whole Kanehara thing, it holds no weight, because every single fight is different. I suppose you think your new God Shogun could defeat Cro Cop now as well. I'm beginning to dislike Shogun and it's all your fault I do think Shogun could beat Cro Cop, because the key to beating Cro Cop is rushing him as well. Shogun is not unbeatable, it's just his style makes him very dangerous against guys who can't take him down. I guess we can't do any pre-fight analysis using past fights as an indicator any more. Damn. And there I thought predicting Shogun would beat Jackson on the basis of Jackson having trouble with Silva and Shoguns similar aggression in other fights was the right call. Oops. [cartman mode]Also, Shogun's jiu-jitsu is hyah, while Arona and Rogerio's jiu-jitsu is HYAH[/cartman mode] I never said Shogun would sub Arona and Rogerio, he's good enough to avoid getting sub'd though, and he's hard to keep down. -

BR4L You would think that someone who's seen enough MMA as you RRR, would not be using the he beat a guy who another guy couldn't beat in a certain amount of time argument. I always use that argument. And it stands. Cro Cop put a massive beating on Kanehara, and Kanehara took it. Cro Cop is generally considered to be the most dangerous fighter in the heavyweight division. What does it say about Shogun if he managed to put an even bigger beating on Kanehara and, infact, stopped him? Kanehara can take a helluva beating, and he couldn't take Shoguns. The man is a killer. An absolute killer. The thing about Silva is that his recovery power is amazing, no one has the chance to take advantage of their hits on him. If motherfucking Mark Hunt can't knock Silva out with clean shots, no one can. Hunt doesn't fight with nearly the same aggression that Shogun fights with. Shogun doesn't hesitate. He won't think twice about stomping your head in if you're on the ground. He flows so well. That's very dangerous for Wanderlei. Case in point: Vitor Belfort. Paragon.. Yeah, Rampage is just a shitty fighter now. Fuck, wins over Arona and Liddell mean shit now that he's lost to The Best Fighter at 205 Wanderlei Silva and Shogun. Rampage is still a top 5er, he just doesn't fare well against Chute Boxe guys because they press the action and he just covers up when they get in close for the clinch. How have you not learned this yet? I don't see him getting past the second round if he faces either of the BTT guys, which is what is most likely going to happen. If the BTT guys are going to beat Shogun, it will either be by decision or late-in-the-fight submission. Shoguns jiujitsu 2 years ago was very impressive, I can't imagine how much he has improved since then. You are underrating it. -
Re-signing Matt Hardy and feuding him and Edge
RavishingRickRudo replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in The WWE Folder
I don't know how much money could be made on Matt/Edge. The appeal, for the fans, is that this is real. It is not something the WWE wants, it is not something that is forced on 'us', it is something that the fans have chosen to be interested in. If they (the WWE) made it into a storyline, it would cease to be real. The appeal of a match between the two would have to come from "whether or not Matt would cooperate". They would have to make it seem like that there is a very real possibility that Matt would shoot on Edge in that match. They (the writers) don't know how to do that. Bischoff would LOVE to get his hands on this storyline, while Vince just wants it to go away. For a storyline to work, they'd have to use all their resources to make it work. Have Edge work a house show in (or near) South Carolina (or where ever Matt lives) and have Hardy rush the ring and get a shot in before immediately getting taken out. Have him actually get arrested. Have the report of his arrest get "leaked" to The Smoking Gun, mug shot and all. Have him do a commentary on his site trying to explain the matter. If this situation has proved anything, it is that information travels fast on the internet and with the IWC. "Leak" a video (a fan cam) on-line of Matt attacking Edge, have the WWE try to "remove" the video to no avail. Put plants in the audience that are dressed up like Matt Hardy and have them interact with Edge as if they are teasing him. Have him rip up signs on the matter. Make sure very few people know the "truth" of what is going on so that Meltzer, or anyone else, will report that it's a work. Then have Edge open up his own website and talk about the matter. Create a messageboard for him, have Matt Hardy post on that messageboard, and let them air their dirty laundry. Part of the appeal of this story for fans is that "we're not supposed to be reading this". Have Edge apologize and then have the matter resolved. Matt posts on his website that he has cooled down and that he is "over" the issue. The WWE feels "safe" hiring Matt Hardy back, and put him on a 90 day probationary period. Matt makes his return to television on a night that Edge has "off". The only reference to Matts leave made on television is that Hardy had some "personal issues" that he had to take care of, and now is back better than ever. To this point, not a single word has been said on TV about the two fighting. Then, after a week or two, they put Matt and Edge in a program together over the most absurd reason possible, just to have them feud. Say, Edge steals Matts wristband. They have a tag match against each other on RAW, they only interact once and Matt "accidentally" injures Edge and the match can't be finished (A chairshot that was a lil too hard, maybe?). Have everyone act confused, have the show halted for a second, go to a commercial break and comeback with JR and King go over what happened, and then go on with the show. Report on WWE.com that Edge received x amount of stitches, have Hardy say on his website that it was an accident, have Edge say on his website that there are no hard feelings. They have a house show match, the same thing happens. Edge gets "injured". Reports online are coming in that there is heat on Hardy and that he is "taking liberties" with Edge in the ring and that Edge is getting concerned that he will get injured in another match and wants out of the program with Hardy. A match, nonetheless, is set up on PPV. A report of Edge and Hardy getting into a fight backstage is leaked, this time it was Edge who initiated it. It was "broken up" before anything could happen. The WWE wants to fire Hardy and plans to after the PPV, but they can't call off the match because they already set it up and have nothing else to fill it with. Again, all of this is "leaked" information. I think that working the internet is always a bad idea, but in this case, I think it is the only way to make good money from the two having a match together. A traditional storyline won't work, because the heat for this feud hasn't been garnered in a traditional way. -
This thread inspired me to watch The Simpsons last night. ...I hate you all. After clawing my way through the Ray episode, I couldn't muster the energy to get through the Bart-is-Fat one. This show is nothing more than sight gags and "cute" play-on-words.

Re-signing Matt Hardy and feuding him and Edge
RavishingRickRudo replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah, cause it's not Edge sleeping with Lita or the WWE firing Matt Hardy which caused this... it's Matt Hardy talking about it on his website. The other 3 parties are completely innocent... I don't think the WWE will hire Hardy back until 2006 or after they feel he won't be a backstage problem. Right now, I just think they can't see a way around the Lita/Edge thing so they are going to make it a storyline and hopes that it will go away now that they've addressed it. Since they lost Trish, their #1 heel female and they don't have anyone to fill that spot, they can have Lita do that, pair her with Edge, feud him with Kane for a while, and then put someone like Christy Hemme with Kane to round it out. Lita finds another woman to "train" against Hemme (since Lita herself can't wrestle) and there's your (shitty) womens title feud. -

Silva got rocked enough in those fights to go down to his knees, the difference with Shogun is that he'd press the fight so that Silva would stay down. Shogun destroying Rampage -a top 5 middleweight- isn't impressive? Destroying Kanehara, someone who Cro Cop couldn't put down, isn't impressive? -
I'm with Tawren on those episodes, Homer Goes To College, Homer at Bat, and Homer the Heretic, are awesome episodes. I hate Homer now, and that's mainly because of how good he was and isn't now. I am not with T666 on any of those episodes. I kept looking for "least" infront of the word "favourites" but for some reason it wasn't there. Those are awful, awful episodes (cept for the last 2), and are perfect examples of what I was talking about before.

I don't bandwagon jump BR4L. Shogun beat that lil pussy-ass bitch loser Rampage and he'll destroy everyone else. I've liked Shogun for a while now, since he debuted in PRIDE at least, it's more of a Flavour-of-the-month than Bandwagon jumping. I think Shogun could take Silva, Igor and Alistair. Silva has a weak chin, as shown against Sak, Hendo, and Hunt. It's just with them, they didn't really capitalize on it like Shogun would. Shogun is a killer, IMO even more so than Wanderlei or his brother. Silva would be lunch meat against Shogun. Igor and Alistair would be out grappled on the ground by Shogun, easily, and I think would have lots of trouble with him standing. The Other Nog is iffy, and Arona is the best bet. But Arona went to a decision against Ninja, and Shogun is better than his brother. Aronas wrestling could get Shogun on the ground, but I don't think he could keep Shogun there (Shogun did very well against Babalu on the ground) and the rules in PRIDE better favour Mauricio than the IFC, stand ups would be easier to get, so he could inflict more damage. Rua is one of the most entertaining fighters out there, it would be a shame if they paired him up with either guy in the next round just because they'd try to ride him out for a decision. I stand by Shogun winning the tournament, if him beating Rampage didn't teach you guys anything, then whomever he faces next hopefully will. The UFC needs to get a hold of Shogun, or Ninja. The UFC fans love the knees, and they'd bring em in spades. Put em up against a can, let them get an impressive win, and build from there. Liddell vs. Either would be awesome. -
Those were pretty bad. The only one I like is the one he uses as his entrance music, the rest were generic early-mid 90's stuff.

I watched Shogun vs. Babalu the other night, and gotdamn that's a fine match. Shoguns guard work was surprisingly good (better than Wanderleis and Ninjas, maybe the best out of those I have seen in the Chute Boxe Academy) but he wasn't as stomp or knee-happy, which makes me wonder if they were against the rules. He needs to work on his takedown defense, as Babalus took him down pretty easily and his punching from the guard (he needs more shoulder-development to fire-off stronger punches) is Fedor-like in form but not in impact or execution. Shit, if Fedor trained for a month or two with the Chute Boxe Academy, both he and Shogun would be even more dangerous. -
As a series progresses, characters tend to end up being exagerrations of themselves. Seinfeld is a classic example of that. In their last 2 seasons, George, Eliane, Kramer and Jerry became parodies of their earlier selves, and all their tiny quirks became blown up (Jerry's OCD, Kramers zaniness, Georges neurosis). Seinfeld ended before that got totally out of hand, whereas the simpsons continued for 8 or 9 more years.
-
The character changes were _bad_ for the show, and have been repeated constantly ever since. They changed Homers character _for the better_ in Season 2 and 3, infact they improved all the characters in those seasons (cept for Lisa, who never has improved). Now it's just horrible, and they are busy changing secondary and tertiary characters and don't even try to refine their core characters. I'd be interested in seeing how South Park effected The Simpsons; to see if South Parks popularity changed the shows quality. Ditto Family Guy.
-
Frank Grimes - This is the episode where the writers decided "hey, let's make Homer evil". Before, Homer was just lovably dumb. This made him annoyingly stupid. There was no reason for it other than to have him be a jackass (or jerkass). The John Waters Eps. - The effeminization of Bart isn't something that is commonly discussed, but it's a huge part of the shows fall. Here Bart becomes a toy for Homer, rather than his son. Bart used to be the manipulator, now he is the manipulated. Back when the Simpsons was more "bart" oriented, the episodes were good and the Homer episodes were great. Now they're all Homer episodes (or, even worse, Lisa episodes). Bart lost most, if not all, of his charm in this episode, and has been a pussy ever since. Hullapalooza - The Simpsons used to be more of a retro show. They were the nuclear family, very 50ish inspired. They never really tried to capitalize on current trends, until this episode. Now that's all they do (and poorly). Homers quest for public approval is another thing. Lisa makes new friends - I don't know the name of this episode, but it's when the family goes on vacation and no one signs Lisa yearbook... I just really hate this episode.
