They are going to make Vis champ with that gimmick? A main eventer? Gimmicks play well in the midcard, but like I said, they are limited. They won't get you to the top* (*Undertaker always being the exception to the rule)

And Christian can ask Maria "Hey pretty-pretty, are you a part of the Christian Coalition? No? Well, get on yo knees and lemme baptize you. BOOYEAH! That's hows I ROLL~!" and Tomko just shakes his head.
-
Christian should try to bed Maria, but Maria wants Tomko. Tomko wants Candice. Candice wants Christian. Hilarity, as they say, ensues.

Can he be saved? Maybe. Can he be saved by the WWE and their crack staff of writers and bookers? No. The problem has always been the same for Val, he's limited by his gimmick and their attempts at moving him away from it have been half-hearted and they always go back to the Val Venis character. The guy is completely on life-support now, but there are ways he could be brought back to life because the guy is one of the better workers on the roster, so he can back it up in the ring which is half the battle. He had a fantastic dark match with Sheldon Benjamin and they could do well together in a feud, however at this point-in-time a feud would weigh Benjamin down rather than Val getting elevated. There are a bunch of tricks they could use to jump-start him, but I dunno if it would be worth it.

I saw someone wearing that Captain Charisma shirt about 2 weeks ago. I am disappointed Tomko spoke. They should continue the gimmick of him being the worst bodyguard ever. Christian needs to do something with Rosie. Those two are far-and-away the best things on RAW (and Benoit).

%&^&^$~~!!! *owns PRIDE 9 on DVD* (worst impulse purchase ever) -
They should bring him back as a magician and have him do a bunch of tricks.

And some people have bad taste.

Sorry. No dice. That's an awful idea. This isn't 'Mortal Kombat - the TV Series', and I don't think it should be. There might (MIGHT) be an audience for that type of thing, but you wouldn't find it, and it wouldn't be as big. I mean, you'd lose ALL the die-hards. Every single one. BUT you'd also struggle to find new fans. I mean, how do you market that? And what happened to continuity? What about the revenue they make from their back catalogue? How do you explain that Benoit used to beat people by pulling their arm out of it's socket, but now he can morph into a giant wolverine and tear their throat out (or whatever)? (I wasn't serious) (But hey, every style should be taken into consideration)

No opinion can be 100% accurate. That's my opinion. ... (cough) I think there is a right and wrong opinion in some, but not all, instances. To steal a JDW analogy, if someone said that Sid was a better wrestler than Chris Benoit, they'd be wrong. If someone said that Trish/Bubba vs. Jackie/Bradshaw RAW was a worse match than Piper/Hart WM 8, they'd be 100% right. An actual rating would be arbitrary, but the point would remain. I think a lot of the time people just don't like to be told they're a dumbass for thinking something, so they act indignant and hide behind "well that's my opinion" rather than actually putting some thought and actually looking at an analysing the match. I think there is a time when "well that's my opinion" can come into play, but that's after the analysis as been done. On a discussion board this distinction becomes particularly important, because I'm not going to take seriously or even read Jackoff3:1666's post if he/she can't formulate a sound argument or discussion point.

The MMA QUADRUPLE shot~!

The matches were up by around 2 or 3 today (maybe earlier, but that's when I got online) It was the Japanese version, so luckily I didn't have to listen to the announcers bitch, and if they were, I couldn't understand em. I also had the luxury of pacing myself and picking which fight I wanted to watch. Plus I knew when a fight was going to a decision by the size of the file. I think I watched Rampage/Shogun first (maybe Nakamura/Randleman) and it was such a great feeling, like Bonnar/Griffin kind of excitement. I love watching a shitkicking and it was so gratifying to see someone that you said "look out for this guy" succeed on such a massive level. I didn't come down from that till about 2 hours later. I was laughin, jumping up and down, throwing shadow-knees. Just an awesome feeling. I fast forwarded through some of Nakamura/Randleman, but I still enjoyed it on one level. I like watching Nakamuras no gi judo. Igor/Kondo was really good, watch it on mute or something It may have become one-sided for the last 2 rounds, but it was a nice education in ground control and they were constantly moving. Silva/Yoshida was basically the last 10 seconds. I thought it was the worst fight of the night (didn't see Arona/Lister), but that last 10 seconds had me holding my breath. I wasn't hyped for this show, so it wasn't a let down for me. When you get a show like this, it more often than not will disappoint, especially a stacked PRIDE show. Not because the show was bad, but because it could have been better. I think the environment you watched it in contributed to your overall feeling. If your uncle didn't fall asleep on the couch, I don't think you would be so down on it. Plus it had to follow up the UFC's awesome 2 weeks. In terms of delivering, I think the UFC has been beating PRIDE for the past year or so, maybe even more. Oh shit, I can't believe I forgot to talk about the entrance. THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME! Overeems entrance was amazing, as was Kondos. That's an epic set! -

It's kinda hard to defend the choke when you've just got your jaw jacked with a knee. I didn't buy the show, so I'm not speaking as someone who paid $30 for it, but I enjoyed it a lot. Hendo/Nog and Igor/Kondo were both very good fights. ***1/2 each, maybe ***3/4. Igor was amazing. I feel like it's 1999/2000, because Igor was absolutely dangerous in this fight. He beat the will out of Kondo, and that's what fighting is. The kimura sweep was awesome and Kondo's 69 guard was swank and erotic. Henderson getting caught with the armbar in a similar way he got caught by big Nog, a nice touch. Nog totally outstruck him with pin-point, downward, punches that impressed me a ton. It's about damn time they put him in contention for a title, because he is dangerous against everybody. Igor/Nog would tooootally be a poor mans Fedor/Nog, and that ain't bad. THE NAK! I am so happy he won, two Japanese fighters in the quarter-finals now and I say have em fight each other to guarantee one in the finals. Pass the torch to Nakamura. I didn't see the Arona fight. Fuck, I feel so bad for Vitor. The look on his face after tapping was like he lost his dog. Good for Overeem, let's hope they pair him against someone willing to bang (which, incidently, is just about everyone in this tournament. They wanted to get Overeem/Arona for a while, and that's the worst possible match they could make.). The reason why they call it trash talk is because it's nothin but garbage, BITCH! Shogun by Murderizing. RD 1 Shogun by Murderizing. RD 1 Shogun by Murderizing. RD 1 You can doubt who I pick to win or lose, but don't doubt my predictions on the future. RRR: Workin on an avatar. -
And the video package is just from last week. The "previously on.."s usually use multiple weeks, and there isn't very fancy production on them, just straight up clips with a lil bit of music in the background to set the tone. They need to get blood on the camera, and their hand-held guys, when the action gets frantic, need to start moving the camera around as if they were in the middle of a war.

The presentation aspects of RAW (and Smackdown) are so important and they haven't improved a lick of it since moving to SPIKE/TNN. The RAW and Smackdown sets are ghastly. When TNA is out producing you, you know you have to step it up a notch. I didn't like it when the UFC said they were going to take away their screen and pyro, but I'll be damned if it hasn't improved the presentation (cept for Tito and Genki Sudo). I had a similar experience as Haas when I was watching the HOF banquet and they showed Hogan moving through the audience, that created such an intensity because the fans were so rabid to get a piece of him. PRIDE, for their big dome shows, has a camera on a wire that goes from the entrance-way to the ring and it creates this awesome effect. AJPW had a camera that was positioned directly over a corner turnbuckle and it zoomed in when there was a face-to-face. There are so many camera tricks that can be done and the WWE is only using quick cuts to hide shitty moves.

YES. JR would be great doing that in his non-JR voice. Or if they get Majel Barrett to do it, that would be sweet!

Dude, I saw a video of a guy either jumping or getting thrown off a cell and a second later he was fine.

Every post you have made in this thread has been bad. And there's a difference between misreading and not reading a post, had you actually read my post you would have figured out what I meant even if you had misread a line or two. Fuck off. The WWE being "old school" right now is laughable, and IMO is just another word for directionless and basic. If they were being "80's NWA" right now, then why does the DIVA search still exist? What's the deal with Kane and Lita? If they're being old school, they sure aren't being consistent with it. That poor HHH having to do what the writers tell him... oh wait, he doesn't. He came up with that dumbass storyline himself. Why can't HHH just crumble after a loss and go away for a while? Why would he become paranoid anyways? Don't you become paranoid when you have the power since you feel everyone wants what you have? My point isn't to do murder angles, my point is to create a WWE where murder angles would be accepted and would "work". But missing the point isn't anything unfamiliar...eh? I defend this forum from people who say this place is full of dumbasses, but goddamn if it ain't a hard job.

BRING IT OOOOON!! You (and Rampage) are gonna git... $HPWNGUN3D~! -
Eh, I wasn't getting much out of anybody cept for Shadow, so I pressed the abort button. People here just aren't thinkin on the right level...cept for Masked Man of Mystery; he knows the score. (Oh, and you guys certainly aren't helping!) I think an entire RAW where guys are transformed into sock puppets would work.

I think the ring would rise from under the ground. The seats would be much closer the ring and would be more elevated/bleacher-style. Fuck the hockey arena style of so many seats on the ground. It would be a lot like the sumo halls in Japan. The entrances would be much cooler too and more adaptable. And the ceiling would retract. And there would be lots of columns, like a fucking roman setting. And maybe each seat would have a voting panel, like Americas Funniest Home Videos, where fans can vote on shit.
-
I think it would be cool if they had this HUUUUGE month-long tournament that they focused-on all year round that took place, say, in November. It would be like the fucking Kumute in Bloodsport, where wrestlers from all over the world try to compete. The matches in every other month would be wrestlers trying to fight for a spot in the tournament where the winner would be granted immortal-life, or something like HIGHLANDER. Fuck yeah! I also think the WWE should build their own arena, customized for wrestling.
-
The superhero route for a woman would work best because it gives a "logical"* reason for why a smaller woman could beat a bigger man. Whether she is stronger, to where one punch could send a wrestler across the ring, or faster where the wrestler throws really slow punches and she moves around him and dodges it and they do some whacky production stuff that makes it look like she's going superfast for the home audience. (*Logic in terms of the defined/proposed universe, not the current one). A "wrestler POV" cam would be swank, and perhaps even a voice-over/monologue/"thinking" deal where we can hear his/her thoughts as they are backstage.
-
How about the WWE totally goes the TV route and starts focusing on different genres every months? Like, have Regals father die and the murderer turns out to be a WWE superstar, so he becomes a detective to find out who did it, and every match ends up giving him a clue, and every week for a month he gets closer and closer, and when he finds the killer, they have a match on PPV.
-
It's been used a lot on TV and in movies. Never in wrestling, though. Just something to think about - outside the box type stuff. What can wrestling be? It can be sport, it can be shakespeare, it can be anything... and what ever it can be, somehow someway, the WWE ain't it. They're just floating around in Limbo. That's what this thread is for, to see how far we can take it, and where we want it to go.
