GREATEST THREAD EVER~!
RavishingRickRudo replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in General Wrestling
"Anything new? Are you kidding???? Everyday is something new here in Japan...you should know that by now Brent. First of all, the Red girl....I took care of her last night. The girl we interrogated has paid in full, Tetsu is still in canada. Oh, I went to Private Eyes last night and the manager Kenji tried to pull a fast one on me when the bill came and I kind of got mad.... He appologised by comping the bill which was about $1000 and agreeing to a huge discount from here on. The funny thing is that when I was chewing Kenji out at the door, guess who walks in. Royce and Royler Gracie. Royce looked great and we spoke a bit and needless to say...Royce is on a mission. I hope he kicks ass on the 31st. Last but not least...I found a new bar to hang out at. You are going to love this place. The owner love MMA and everytime I go in with Arashi or Ise, he calls a bunch of beautiful women to hang with us. Arashi and Ise are happy....but....as you know I'm married so....." "More news... Partied Ute(sp?) room in Shinjuku with Bas, Randalman, Coleman, and the new Pride anouncer. It was crazy. Bas kept us laughing all night, Kevin got pranked big time, and I choked out and stomped on the anouncers head. He was toasted and got a bloody nose. Tomorrow is my Pro Wrestling gig at the Tokyo Dome....I'll post how it went!!!" -
There is probably a potential 5.0 of fans to get back (max). In 2001 there was probably 7 or 8.0 (combination of WCW and ECW fans) - but they weren't going to get that anyways, so "potential" may be the wrong word.

So you didn't read the Takada vs. Yakuza story?? CanadianFightClub is a fucking moron, though. Seriously, the guy must've dropped out in Grade 6 considering the simple spelling mistakes he's making. "It's now 7:16am and Bert and I just got in from the night out in Tokyo. Tonight we must of had enough adventures to last a year. Started from knocking down trees in my yard, to 2hrs. of Thai massage, to delicious Yakiniku, to hostess bars, to forcing Tequillas and Cola to the bartenders, to singing Karaoke with a Colombian drug lord, to interogation of a beautiful girl, to the usual rollar coaster ride home in my Benz." "That's right sparring in the bar. Chairs falling and the bartender freaking out. Bert drew blood from Arashi so Bert is the winner!!!! Congrats Bert you're 1-0." "Well tonight was another night and Bert and I hit Roppongi again. We had a party where Bert, at times let his sense of touch lead him. We were partying with Kenichi Yamamoto (Rings), Yoji Anjo(challenged Rickson at his acadamy), Sakata(ex UFC Japan producer), and Masato. Once again Bert forgot his camera....sorry guys but I think he wants to keep this whole trip to himself." "Bert did you make it home okay??? Is you Mom mad at me for redesigning your face????" "Pay me back? For what? Your support and gratitue that you express to me is more payback than I could ask. Train hard and always give 110%. Remember.........Real power, strength, and heart, can't be given...it must be taken" - Enson "tetsu is a crazy mofo, he's always doing somthing funny or spending 2 grand a night at one of the nicest clubs in tokyo or buy me lap dances hahaa i think tetsu was my favorat gangster. Enson had to interrogat a really hot girl one night about her stupid ass boyfriend who ows Enson money, after thier was a lil sparing in the bar with arashi, it wasn't full out because i was scared of bracking stuff but it gave the bar tender a scare haahaha, Enson likes to order 2-3 tequila shots then when he gets them he tells the bar tenders to drink them, he alsow stickes toothpickes in thier arms and stares them down, so i think they hate when Enson comes in to the bar but also like it because they get to drink. one day i woke up nd Enson was at the police station, 5 cops came to the door hahaha, Enson said he was leafing the police station and they better call more guys because he was goign home. man i miss japan. GO Egan!!!" -Dumass -
Of course, it also may highlight that RAW and Smackdown aren't that different from each other and further kill the brand extention.

The concept might spark interest - so rather than doing a 3.5, they might (collectively) get a 4.5 or something. It would have to be hyped for a while, though. Sure, that's not productive, but it's something fresh; which, in the long run, might be beneficial.
-
Interesting concept, but I'm sure there are logistical problems with it (production crew?).
-
Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it isn't feasible. I don't like it either.... thus making it not feasible.

***Fight card has been changed. Check Below*** The term "Must-see" get's thrown around a lot; but in regards to the UFC it doesn't happen all too often... Believe me when I say, THIS is a MUST SEE. ACK! Can't believe I forgot Sapp/Noguiera! Come to think of it, I've only seen one "bad" Noguiera match (Rodriguez).

Yeah, that's definitely a great thread - you'd never see a thing like that in Pro Wrestling. -
UFC on TSN Tonight at Midnight
RavishingRickRudo replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in General Wrestling
Tito was tired. Fun lil Fact: Tito went to train *on cardio* with Frank Shamrock after this fight. Frank's gameplan was to wear Tito-out; he did it to perfection. Watching Frank in this fight is watching a master - you can pick up so much from just seeing what he does in certain situations. I have no idea why they showed the first match; what a piece of crap. -

Yeah, I'd definitely agree with that. Tito was afraid of the heel hooks and leg locks since he didn't wear shoes (the announcers said that was for his kickboxing, but he did very little of that). Plus, giving your back isn't *that* bad, since it could possibly turn into the guard position for you. -
Oooooh, funny you ask about Blue Sun Yeah, Blue Sun is the uber-corporation - they're so big that they've basically merged with the Government. It's actually a pretty accurate view of the future given the current political and economic climate. Blue Sun is everywhere and is everything, practically. When River cuts into Jayne he is wearing a Blue Sun T-shirt. When she is going crazy in the kitchen ripping all the labels off the foodcans she's doing it because they're Blue Sun manufactured. What they wanted with River is unknown, though there are hints that she might have been used as a weapon.

Shamrock/Ortiz - for me - would be a top 15 match, maybe. I love this fight, Frank Shamrock is a GOD, but I would rank a host of others ahead of it (mainly from PRIDE). It's one of the best UFC fights of all time, though. I love how Shamrock works the cage to his advantage, how he listens to his corner (when Mo said "30 seconds" Frank immediately picked it up - a specific strategy), and his overall ability (though he could improve his takedown defense). The first fight was so bad I actually rewinded the tape and recorded over it. I love the knockout in the second fight. And I am SO VERY HAPPY to have gotten Ortiz/Shamrock on tape. -
Let's be realistic here. Hart/Hart is moreso the exception than the rule. I can't recall half the jerkers for mania and I (a)am a "hardcore fan", (b)have watched manias religiously since becoming a fan, and ©own the freaking box set.

POTYC! You had me at "Vincentian" but you decided that wasn't enough so you through in the MEGAWHOPPER "Stephember".

Vince kept Coach from talking about the matches
RavishingRickRudo replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
That would explain why one day Spongebob Squarepants was being featured in the lil box. It would also explain why our Bane/Seven discussion was also shown -
Yeah, but that match tends to stand out and get remembered for some strange reason. It probably takes place at the top of the hour (4 matches at 15 minutes each) and everyone is rested... ... I dunno, I'm just givin out the stats. Traditionally, that match is like 3rd string in terms of importance and build.

Dude, I'm dead serious. And sometimes, the signal gets fucked up and instead of JR and King in the lil box there's the CPAC Candian Legislative sign language lady -

I guess the little box is just a Candian thing. -
OK! I have studied the past 3 wrestlemania events to find trends and booking patterns. I have used the following critera - Type of match (Singles, Multi, Gimmick, Title) - Type of wrestler (lower card, mid card, upper card, main event) - Winner (Heel or Face) I also looked at the Marquee factor; this relates to how it was featured, if it was promoted as a "big match" and was given building time, it was a Marquee match. (Multi matches just feature more than 2 people) -------------------- Match #1: 100% Chance of being a mid card title match/ 66% chance of the face winning The first match will be a title match (IC, IC, Cruiser) - I'm betting this would be a cruiserweight title match. Match #2: 66% of it being a lower card multi hoss match which the faces will win Albert, Matt Morgan, Test, Steiner, Bradshaw etc. would all probably go here. Match #3: 100% chance of being a mid-card multi-man title match / 66% chance of being gimmicked with the face winning This would either be a womens match, or a tag title match. I would bet on a tag title match, and probably a Smackdown title match (Bashams, Team Angle, Scotty/Rikishi, FBI??). But it could be a Raw (Dudleys, Storm/Venis, Cade/Jindrack?). Match #4: 66% chance of being a mid card title match / 100% chance of the heel winning and being meaningless This is where the smackdown tag 4 way was last year - which had no build at all IIRC. Angle/Kane was here, and they had no real issue either. Eddie and Test were here and I can't remember why they were fighting. This will probably be a US title match, given the use of that belt. But it could also be a throw-away womens match. Either way, it's a fluff-match. Match #5: 100% chance of being a "good match", featuring pseudo-upper card players/ 66% chance of heel winning and being a "dream match" Benoit/Angle, Taker/Flair, Jericho/Michaels were all in this spot - many would consider these matches as the "best" match on their respective cards. This is probably going to be the "wrestling" match - so Angle, Guerrero, Benoit, Jericho, Michaels would probably go here. Flair/Taker, Michaels/Jericho could be considered "dream matches" since they all featured "big" stars of their time. 66% chance of that happening. Match #6: 66% chance of being nothing / 66% chance of featuring a main eventer / 66% chance of face winning This is probably the most volitile place on the card - a face will probably win, it could feature a big player, and it could also be fluff. Chyna/Ivory was here, Booker/Edge was here, Booker/HHH was here - so there's a good chance Booker will be in this spot. Match #7: 100% chance of being marquee, face winning, and main eventers This will be a "big match" with "big stars" and the face will win. Hogan/Mcmahon, Austin/Hall, McMahon/McMahon were all here. There's a 'good' chance Vince will be wrestling in this spot... and will lose. Match #8: 66% chance of being a mid-card multi title match / 100% chance of the heel winning Whereas a face would definitely win match 7, a heel will definitely win match 8. This would probably be the "other" tag title match. See match 3 for details... Match #9: 66% chance of being single / 100% chance at being featured/marquee / 100% chance of face winning Ok, this will be the 2nd "Big match" on the card (In this case, probably the 3rd). The gimmick battle royal was here, and even though that was not a "big match" it was certainly a special/featured match, so it warrants "marquee"-ness. Hogan/Rock was here, Brock/Angle was too. The face will win, though it will probably be mixed - since Rock was really more of a heel in that match, and the Iron Shiek was cheered despite being a heel... Sgt. Slaughter came out in the end to ensure the crowd pop. Match #10: 100% chance of face winning That's all I got from the stats... too mixed for anything else. Actually, since Taker won in Texas and Trish won in Ontario, whomever is the hometown favourite will win this. Match #11: 100% chance of being a marquee title match (66% chance of it being an 11-match card) Ok, we all know that the final match will be the title match. Last year it was the smackdown title and no one has managed to repeat in the main event. However, 2/3 of the main events have been upstaged by something else - Angle/Brock had to let McMahon/Hogan take the spotlight, and Jericho/HHH was overshadowed by Rock/Hogan.

I think that spot would go to Foley - if he ever were to come back. Chavo vs. Rey Tag match Womens match Foley match Hoss match (US title??) Angle Guerrero Tag match Brock Match Hunter match

I'd love to see a Jeremiah Cloutier-esque character in the WWE. They always do Religion storylines and gimmicks horribly, so I don't actually mean that - but in a perfect world, that character would rock. He would "save" other wrestlers while HBK questions his motives.
