  1. Anyways, The deal with Studio Works Entertainment sounds promising. That means UFC dvd's in Blockbuster, Best Buy, etc, and hopefully not for 45 bucks like they are at HMV here in Canada. Sims vs. Mir - THANK GOD. Mir did well in the first fight and I hope -if he wins- they build him up as the giant killer. Maybe have him go against McGee later on (though McGee's contract was terminated by Zuffa and he's in the process of getting the decision vs. Sylvia changed to a No Contest.) UFC 45 is shaping up to be a pretty good card, but I am still debating whether or not to get it. It's the opposite of UFC 44 - which was basically a one-fight card, but that one fight was a HUGE fight, and this card doesn't really have any of that. Nothing that I am too excited about, I guess is what I am trying to say.
  2. Steph owned ECW? What's an Invasion?
  3. THREAD! FUCK! I looked at that a thousand times before I posted it. FUCK! Anyway I can edit that??
  4. I figure there's a lot of news in MMA that deserves attention, but there's so much that it would warrant it's own folder... since we have to share with the fine, sleazy, Indy-folk, I figure a one-stop thread would be suitable. I'll try to make daily updates, and if ANYONE feels like posting a newsbit or commenting please do. This will mainly cover the "Big 2", but news on organizations like K-1, KOTC, TKO, etc. are certainly welcome. PPV/Card/Event threads should be started on their own, but should only be when the whole card is officially announced. If there's a MAJOR news story, create a new thread for that as well. Please credit your source. (PS. the Bold font is just to break up the monotony, not to highlight anything as important.) (via the Underground Forums) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --UFC 45 Matches Announced The lineup for UFC 45: Revolution is nearing completion. The card is now: Matt Hughes vs Frank Trigg Tank Abbott vs Cabbage Correira Falaniko Vitale vs Matt Lindland Ricco Rodriguez vs Pedro Rizzo Evan Tanner vs Phil Baroni Din Thomas vs Yves Edwards (Sherdog.com) --------------------------------------------------------------------- WES SIMS VS FRANK MIR - "I'M GOING TO BEAT HIS @$$ MMAWeekly has learned that Wes Sims will face Frank Mir for a second time at the Mohegan Sun in November at UFC 45. MMAWeekly talked with Sims about signing to face Frank Mir for a second time. Sims told MMAWeekly.com "I'm going to beat his ass." Sims continued, "I'm excited to get a rematch. The way I look at the Octagon is it's a Roman Colosseum. Two men enter, one doesn't leave. That's how all fighters should look at the Octagon; if not, you should be a doorman at a titty bar." Mir defeated Sims by disqualification, when Sims kicked the downed opponent, Mir, with a footstomp and was immediately disqualified. This fight will NOT be for the UFC Heavyweight Title; so basically, UFC 45 will not have any Heavyweight Title matches, meaning the title will stay vacant until UFC 46. (MMAWeekly) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IS FUJITA TRAINING TO FIGHT? MMAWeekly.com has learned that heavyweight Kazuyuki Fujita is currently training at Marco Ruas's gym in Southern California for a future event. It's believed that Fujita is training for a fight in November. It's not clear who he will be fighting, or for what organization for sure, but some people who train at the gym told MMAWeekly they believe he will be part of the November 9th show in Japan. This has not been confirmed by Dream Stage at this time. One person from the Ruas gym told MMAWeekly they believe Fujita is training for a fight, but they did not elaborate who the future opponent would be. (MMAWeekly) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GENKI SUDO SIGNS TO FIGHT IN K-1 It's been a while since we last saw Genki Sudo in mixed martial arts and it appears it will stay that way. Sudo will fight the former K-1 World Max Champion Albert Kraus in upcoming K-1 World Max show on November 18th. There has been some talk that he may return to the UFC at the beginning of the new year. When asked by the Japanese media about returning to MMA, Sudo said he would love to fight in the UFC and thought it could happen early next year. (MMAWeekly) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BABALU WANTS A SHOT AT THE OLYMPICS Everyone has been wondering what the future of Babalu is; since, winning the IFC Championship a couple of months ago. Well it looks liks our friends at tatame.com have found out. The report quote "October 19th, 2003 Babalú pursues the Olympic Games After winning IFC Middleheavyweight belt, Renato Babalú wants now to fight for a medal in the Wrestling at the 2004 Olympic Games, in Athens. Brazilian Olympic Circuit's champion, Babalú; however, needs a sponsor. "My goal is Athens, but I do need a sponsorship. Every single fighter will need at least R$14 thousand to be part of the trials next year. If I have a sponsorship, I will stop fighting MMA for a while and I will chase after the Olympic medal," announced Babalú. (MMAWeekly) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are Bas's pics for the finals: "Nogeira against Mirko. Both great fighters! I don't believe that Nogeira can take Mirko down, and even on the ground, I don't think he can get submitted. So I see this fight going with a victory from Mirko, possible KO, but not sure because after the beatings he took from Sapp and Fedor, he was still standing, meaning, he has got a hard head! If the fight goes to the ground, I hope that Nogeira has a new arsenal of weapons to attack with, because everybody knows now the reversed figure 4, triangle and armbar combination. He needs to go for sweeps more, or at least try. He has got all the talent and trains with the best submission fighters in the world. If he didn't change his arsenal, he will not submit Mirko and it will end as I said. Wanderlei against Yoshida I think this will be a walk in the park for Wanderlei, but then again, IF Wanderlei goes for that inside trip takedown and clinches up with Yoshida, he could get submit, Yoshida is THAT good! But if he plays it safe and stays away from Yoshida, Yoshida has only the judo throws, he has no double or single leg take downs, OR, he is fooling us and he trained his ass of on those and then maybe get's a takedown. My prediction, Wanderlei by KO. Quinton against Chuck. Whatever happens, this is going to be a war. So who ever wins is going to fight a fresh Wanderlei (IF I am right in that prediction). I think that Quinton fought very tough opponents and that he will take this fight. It's difficult to say. If Chuck clinches up, he will get taken down, and in Pride there is no fence where he can push him self up to as he can do so perfect in the UFC. Quinton has the overall better punches, although that Chuck showed us last time that he had a great right straight too! Very difficult for me to call, since I know both fighters, I think Quinton by decision. And if he wins that, I hope that he has still enough power to get Wanderlei. Same counts for Chuck of course. It's going to be a hard fight. There you have it!" From http:www.basrutten.tv, these predictions and some more updates will be up on the site soon. 5. Wouldn't being the GM and an Agent be a conflict of interest? Anywho, there are many open possibilities, I just want Heyman back on the mic.
  6. No clue. But it *is* the greatest sig ever.
  7. Is Kurt Angle still his client? How about Team Angle? I mean, I don't believe contracts end after someone goes off television or last longer than 4 months.
  8. I'll take Nash and a drunk midget over JR and the King anyday. Oh the inside comments they'd make...
  9. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - My best Batista impression. Pro: -His indifference during his entrance -His entrance music -Flair going crazy and calling him "Hey Romeo" Con: -Everything else
  10. Because he wanted the satisfaction of seeing Steph quit.
  11. Ok. Here's the deal. It's in Russian with a crappy English link. But fuck that. There are pictures of him holding his baby daughter (Masha), ice skating, and holding his wife (Oksana) infront of a church (?)... there are also baby pictures, strange sauna pictures w/ the Russian Top Team, and a picture of him in a cowboy hat. In other words, this is god in the form of a website. Yes, god has decided to come down from heaven to earth and the name he goes by is http://fedor.bel.ru Fedor, the guy who entered Pride with a cold, emotionless glare. A man who destroyed opponent after opponent with unmerciless fury. Really, an enigma. Until now. From what was pieced together from interviews on the Pride site, he had a wife and daughter, he likes to collect classic cars, he loves borsh and comedies. He is a family man, a workin man, a typical man... a man with a hidden rage inside that is unleashed in the ring. He probably kisses a photo of his little girl before he enters the ring, as he would never let her see him fight live - he wants to protect her from the violence of the world, even if that world provides him with a house and puts food on his table... rather ironic, really; The only way to protect her from such horrors is to be the cause of those horrors for others. But I guess that's the way of the world. All I know is that I'd hate to be the first boyfriend who rings the doorbell on the Emelianenko household and comes face-to-face with that proud Papa. I love this site. It gives a closer look at one of the most dominant men in MMA today. He's a father, a husband, a brother, a friend, a training partner, an athlete, a fighter, a man... http://fedor.bel.ru
  12. So when Taker summons his legions of the undead to destroy Kane, that will be cool as well?
  13. If ramming into a truck at 100mph couldn't stop Kevin Randleman, what fucking chance does Sakuraba have?? A week or two ago when discussing the possible opponents for Sak - from Ninja to Henderson to Newton - the one person who I thought would be a horrible match for him was Kevin Randleman. Sak will be outpowered and outgunned - I can't see him coming close to winning this fight. Has he ever faced a world class wrestler before??
  14. Kevin Randleman Interview “ Life Changing Experience ". By: Jason L./ KevinRandleman.com Kevin I know you are running around crazy right now getting ready for Japan - thank you for taking a brief moment to chat. No problem Jason anytime bro. Kevin before we get in depth about what you have been up to. You have an interesting experience you wouldlike to share. Jason I had a near death experience a few months back. I was in Japan for a wrestling meet. When I go to Japan I try and still eat American food for a couple days to let my body adjust. I like my hamburgers and chicken ya know. This way my body doesn’t start tripping out on the Japan food. Well, I didn’t prepare as good as I should, usually I bring my box of Met-RX and try and keep my eating clean after a few days. I dropped down to around 205 by the time I was headed back to the States. After getting back to the States, I was driving home from the Waffle House and I had lost so much weight in Japan, I had a seizure . I ran head on with a truck. The guy that I hit said, I was going 100. The truck pushed the hood of my car through my window, pushing me to the back of my Lexus SUV, next thing I know I woke up with an engine on my chest. I tripped out and pushed it off - 182 stitches on the right side of my temple and 70 stitches in my arm from pushing the engine off me. It was crazy Jason, it was like a seen of the Matrix. All I can remember was yelling “ Fuckkkkkkkk I’m not supposed to go like this “. The paramedics were trying to tell me to get down because they thought I was bleeding and dying. I pushed them away telling them I was ok. They finally got me to lay down on the girdle and rushed me to the emergency room. I was covered in so much blood,my cream outfit I was wearing looked red. After cleaning me up a bit, a couple of the firefighters finally realized who I was. It was kinda funny, I train a few of the guys sons in wrestling. They gave me such great care. I was bleeding so bad eternally they ran 2 cat scans and 2 MRI’s to see where I was bleeding from. They were trying to strap me down and tell me they needed to go through my penis and rectum to check for bleeding I was like “ nooooooooo way your not sticking anything in my penis or anus “ I snapped my legs from the tie down they were all trippin telling me it was a necessity - I was like hello no that aint gonna happen. 12 hrs later Mark Coleman came and picked me up. And now im back training harder then ever and I feel great. I was lucky and blessed not to sustain any broken bones. The Doctors were amazed, but with me always being in perfect shape, my body was able to absorb the trauma. I tell you what Jason, I look at life with a totally new perspective now. I look at people differently. It makes me understand them a lot better and I actually care now. You know I have seen it all in my lifetime. My mother and father were part of the black panthers and most of my brothers and sisters are in or have been in jail. I saw my 1st murder at age 10. I have been shot at and stabbed, you name it. My best friend was stabbed, and I left home in my own care at age 15. I remember as a kid growing up with freakin braces, fat and being laughed at ( har har Forrest Gump ). When I started wrestling I use to run to train. One day some guys grabbed me and tried to hang me from a rope and kill me. I have seen it all, and it has made me what I am today. See these are the things the public and fans don’t know. I use to let the shit talkers get to me, the internet the UG message boards. I don’t even sweat that small stuff anymore. I’m a fighter, this is what I do for a living, I train 4x a day im a Monster. I fight for myself. I let my fighting win the fans, everyone else I can care less about what they say bout me. Before My accident, I had the superman mentality, now im just happy to be here and loving life. I have a beautiful wife and 2 kids. Speaking of kids Kevin how are they doing ? Awe man growing up fast - my 15 year old boy is a beast, 5’8 165lbs he is a baseball phenom. He plays everything, football, baseball and best of all he is an academic genius. This way we can save money, haha !. My daughter Jasmine Capri is doing great, im bringing her to the Sims - Mir fight. She likes that stuff. How’s training going Kevin and who are you training with ? Training is going awesome, im training with Coleman 2x a day Interrupt : How’s Coleman after his surgery ? He is doing great, we box, we have been boxing 2 weeks now, we go all out. He tells me to take it to him to test the neck, he is more limber and he is feeling good. I’ll be leaving for Texas tomorrow to go down and train with Wes Sims. Wes is a monster right now, he is like 265. So I’ll head down there and train with him before I leave for Japan on the 4th. There has been a lot of talk on who you are fighting in Pride, who has been confirmed ? Sakuraba. It’s confirmed ? Yes they should be coming out with a PR in the next couple day‘s. Nice, what are your thoughts on this fight ? No more mister nice guy. I’m going all out, im gonna hurt him. He is either going to have to KO me or im going to KO him within 13 min. Your gonna see a lot of stand up and arm bars and I’ll throw in some kimuras. Kevin what do you think about the Randy - Tito fight ? Randy is the man, he stuck to his game plan. If they fight again, Randy would beat him, he is a wrestler. Kevin I have read that you and Tito don’t like each other, is it true ? Man there was some crap said a while back about my wrestling skills and his, that’s all the past, I don’t have any beef with anyone. I respect Tito/ Chuck/ Randy/ Quinton. Life is to short to have beef with anyone. I’m just blessed to be here. I look at all this stuff differently now. I’m a new person. I have a purpose in life, God kept me here for a reason. When Randy and I fought, I messed up bad. I got cocky in the 1st, I remember walking back to Coleman after the 1st and Mark was laughing telling me I needed to stick to my game plan and keep my distance and stay on the outside. I got cocky and messed up. But hey, we live and learn. I take my hat off to Randy. What else you got going on Kev ? I’ll be filming a movie at the end of the month, 28-31st in Los Angeles, then I will be going back to Texas to train some more. I’m opening a gym here in Ohio , we will have housing and all. I want to show everyone its not just country here in Ohio, haha.... Any set location yet or just feeling it out ? I own a few properties, we will make a decision when I get back from the fight. I wanted to do it all on my own. With my own money, I didn’t want to bring a partner in. Kevin I know your busy trying to get everything together for your trip tomorrow. I just wanted to touch base with you and see how thing are going and get an update for your fans. I’ll be keeping in touch with you down in Texas bro. Thank you Jason, anytime you need to talk just give me a call, lets hook up in LA, we can go and do dinner. Will do bro chat in a few . Jason L. / KevinRandleman.com http://www.boxingtime.com/randleman_interview.htm
  15. I couldn't get past the first segment.
  16. Oh, and Eddie lost to the fucking shit monster for crying out loud.
  17. I'm never glad about no ordering WWE ppvs. It saddens me that they put out a subpar product not worth paying for. But then again, that just leaves more money for Pride and UFC ppvs... I'm happy with that
  18. Well that was uncalled for.
  19. Velocity on Saturday was Tazz'z last show. Rue shows up on the smackdown heat... *Stephen Quadros enters Jim Ross' office* JR: So Stephen, you have announced for many martial arts promotions from around the world - King of the Cage, K-1, Pride. You are very respected in your field by peers and fighters alike as well as well as an editor for a popular fighting magazine. You are regarded as one of the best PBP announcers in the world... one of the best? Um... Err... Uh... Thanks for coming by, we'll call you if we have anything open... um... yeah... later. *Rue walks in* JR: Well, you were in a girl group and know nothing about everything... you're hired, do me proud.
  20. Hey, who cares about good wrestling? Bring on the lightning!
  21. She's taking Tazz'z spot on Velocity. ...There goes the best announce team in the WWE.
  22. Taker should have the *lights out, lighters up, "bong" entrance from around Mania 12/13.* the workrate and MMA-incorporation of Today, and the bodybags and mullet of when he debuted... oooh, scarrrry!
  23. Oh, then I shouldn't bring up the Moo-nistry of Milkness.
  24. Plus, how will the matches be set up?
