  1. The "smith is a virus" thing blew my mind... I never really made the connection before. The number stuff is too high concept for me to buy.
  2. ...that takes a lot of liberty with the viewers suspension of disbelief and imagination
  3. Lemme just say if Revolutions doesn't give a suitable explanation, I will fucking riot.
  4. So the feud will end with Kurt Angle, face covered in a crimson mask, passing out in the sharpshooter... wait... which one is Austin again??
  5. It's good to hear that the Funky Bunch is back together again.
  6. Don't be hatin... Don't. Be. Hatin.
  7. Why does the WWE continue to waste money? Oh yeah... They're morons.
  8. I was reading in the paper today that Angel's second eps.' ratings went up 21% to 5 million people - or so. Good news.
  9. That gets harder the more you move up in years. "The Dungeon" and "The Hart Bros Wrestling School" aren't necessarily one in the same. I believe, anyone who came out of the 80's (Bret, Benoit, Pillman, etc) had on-hand training from Stu. Storm and Jericho I'm not so sure. Then you have someone like Justin Credible who was out of that camp, but not really associated with "dungeon training"
  10. Considering that Vince denied Bret's request for his promotional pictures and video when Bret was in WCW (though promised that he would let bret have them), it might be unlikely that Bret would give it to Vince... however, as of last year Vince "opened the door" to Bret in that regard... Who knows. In the early 1980s, Vincent K. McMahon, who had just recently bought the World Wrestling Federation from his father, began watching Stampede Wrestling. In 1984, only three years after disconnecting their ties with NWA, Stampede Wrestling received a sales pitch from WWF, who was in the process of buying out and running over many territories, sucking up the stars and leaving only ruins of what was once a booming wrestling business. Although Stu Hart loved his promotion, the sixty-nine-year-old promoter made the decision to sell his promotion to Vince McMahon and the WWF. In 1985, the WWF was making use of those who were once Stampede Wrestling’s biggest stars, but were not making use of the actual Stampede Wrestling promotion. That year, Vince McMahon called Bruce Hart and told him that he was “unable to fulfill the agreement”, and gave Bruce permission to reform Stampede Wrestling. McMahon was a sly businessman, though, and allowed Stampede Wrestling to reform safe in the knowledge that he was in possession of all of Stampede’s former main eventers, such as Bret and Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart, Davey Boy Smith, and Dynamite Kid. When Bruce Hart recreated Stampede Wrestling, he did so without any major stars, and the roster primarily consisted of trainees from The Dungeon, who were looking for a start in the business, hardly anyone who could draw a crowd. During the next ten years, Stampede Wrestling struggled to overcome the WWF’s monopoly on the wrestling business. In fact, there were no title changes in Stampede Wrestling between 1989 and 1998. In 1998, Bruce Hart took on the assistance of his brother, Ross, as owner and booker of Stampede Wrestling, and many new talents began popping up in the Stampede Wrestling territory. Competitors such as Harry “Bulldog” Smith (son of Davey Boy Smith), “The Stampede Kid” TJ Wilson, Dave “The Rave” Swift, Nattie Neidhart (daughter of Jim Neidhart), and Teddy Hart (nephew of Bret and Owen) have rejuvenated Stampede Wrestling and returned it to its former glory, the glory that it so richly deserves -http://www.kayfabememories.com/Regions/stampede/stampede9.htm
  11. Doesn't Vince own Stampede footage?
  12. It was taken after owens funeral... unfortunate circumstances for a great picture. I believe it is from Martha Harts book (or Stu's, I forget which)... there's actually another part to it with Bret, Woman, Shane Douglas in it. http://www.dory-funk.com/owen-h.html Link to Dory Funks article on Owen
  13. I'd say that Dory Funk Jr. was a better trainer. The list of guys he has trained (or helped train) is amazing.
  14. I bet 3 months. Wait, how long did it take for her to get back with Vince after the Alliance broke down?
  15. Actually, the Silverdome says 78,000. Well, that's what Meltzer says.
  16. I love it. Well, I don't love 'it', but you know... shuddup. Thank god I have headphones on.
  17. BOOOOOO!!!
  18. UFC in the UK To the fans in the UK, I know this news may not seem like much, but please believe me when I tell you it is. This is the first step in getting the UFC back on television in the UK. Sometimes it may seem like we are not working on the UK or we don't care about it. Believe me; I have been fighting every day since UFC 38 to get the UFC back in the UK. We have faced many obstacles along the way and things have been happening very slowly. The Odeon Manchester Cinema will have a one-time showing of UFC 43: Meltdown on October 29 at 7:45 PM. Odeon has stepped up and really helped push the UFC in the UK. Please help fight the cause and support this event. I know it doesn't sound all that great, but trust me it is. If this showing is successful, it will lead to bigger and better things for the UFC in the UK. So please, come to the Odeon Manchester on October 29 and support the sport in the UK. Show these people your passion for the sport of mixed martial arts and show them that it has a future in the UK. Thank you all for your continued support. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and we appreciate everything you all have done to keep this sport alive. Sincerely, - Dana White, UFC President (via the Sherdog board)
  19. Well that's good for Brits - I hear you don't get UFC or Pride on PPV... is that true? There is a small movement in the Underground Forums to see if we can get UFC/Pride in a theatre, and share the expense. Doubt it would happen, but it would be fun if it did.
  20. Perhaps a Q-tip. The Deadliest Weapon of them All
  21. They will probably mention something during Benoit vs. Albert at No Mercy.
  22. http://www.canoe.ca/SlamWrestling/harts.html Well, he lived a full and rich life that few get to live but the last few years must have been hard for him, both physically and emotionally.
  23. What was the original topic?? RRR: Thinking about starting a "Buffy" thread, with just the word "Buffy" as the content... and then watching it balloon up to 15 pages in 1 week.
  24. Hmm, Angel kills with a spoon and a pen... running gag??
  25. Had the fight been anything other than a quick'n'easy KO, then Gan would have a case... The UFC's heavyweight division is pretty weak, but something can still be made from it. Mir lost to Freeman, Freeman got beat by Arlovski, Rizzo beat Arlovski, McGee beat Rizzo.. You could work something out from all that for a good story.
