  1. I voted for Havoc 89 since I already have 1991 and 92 from 24/7. Did I read correctly that Hardcore Heaven 97 is going to be shown as well? What does that have to do with October or Halloween?
  2. This sounds like an interesting show. As a certified Umaga non fan I am glad to see him get jobbed out. Add it to curious stuff like Carlito's hair being cut and the hint and this should be amusing to watch tomorrow night. I really, really hope that they don't screw this son angle up. But given who they have to choose from right now, it's tough to not have someone that sucks be the son.
  3. Tigeraid, that sounds like me referring back to Van Dam's fun ECW mic work. Is any of this supposedly god like Daniels stuff on You Tube? I might check that out, but I don't care enough to buy a bunch of DVDs over it.
  4. I recall a match Dinsmore had with Al Snow in OVW circa 2000 at a Louisville Gardens show and that was a fantastic technical match. So the guy could wrestle. It's just that WWE kept him in a dead end gimmick way too long, regardless of whether he himself came up with it. Sure, Booker T. may have thought up being GI Bro again in WCW, but that doesn't mean they should actually listen and do it. I kept waiting for them to do something, anything with the Eugene character. A 4th grader could have booked it. He either had to be an idiot savant who was a moron outside the ring and a genius inside it, or he had to be faking and then do a Kaiser Soze heel turn. Instead the did the worst possible thing, they kept him in the same retard gimmick way past its expiration date and it has basically wrecked his mainstream wrestling career.
  5. By the way, U of L didn't really do this "bush league" running up of the score on Murray the other night. Hell, we had the backups in by the 3rd quarter and the 3rd stringers in by the 4th (only a FG in the last quarter). If today taught us nothing it is that when you schedule a jobber, you gotta SQUASH that jobber. UK beat the piss out of EKU tonight, 50-10. Somehow I bet UK will struggle more with Kent St. next week, call it a hunch.
  6. I'm with tigeraid on most of that stuff aside from Daniels' promo ability. The dude sucks on the mic and just doesn't project much charisma, which is a major reason why that Sting feud didn't work. The alarming thing about TNA is that I don't hear about much of anyone aside from Angle playing politics. These old guys are just being booked to go over because the creative team is simply booking it.
  7. While it's nice to see Punk finally get the win over Morrison the way this all played out was one of the lamest pieces of booking in recent memory. Punk jobs to the guy cleanly on two PPVs, then jobs at another with the slightly dubious "feet on the ropes." Then Morrison is suspended so he just jobs it to Punk anyway, which is what they should have done back at the GAB. Now they end up making no money off the title change.
  8. This is a bizarre release if he had nothing to do with the recent suspensions. With that said it's a good 2-3 years in the making, since Eugene has been a nothing character ever since HHH buried him in that cage match. Nick Dinsmore is a sad tale really....a solid wrestler given such a shitty gimmick that it flat out wrecks his long term career.
  9. Chaminade also beat U of L in some Hawaii tourney. I never looked at that crap as historic upsets though. In fact I just think highly ranked teams used to go to Hawaii and tank it against the home team in the hope of getting invited again! Michigan lost AT HOME in a game that was meant to be a warm up. The Holy Grail of all upsets though is still a #1 seed losing to a #16 in the NCAA tourney. It's never happened before, but almost has a few times.
  10. I am now reminded by that quote from The Longest Yard, where Adam Sandler was talking to the warden: "When I was in college if we needed a warm up game we'd schedule some scrubs like Appalachian St. for an easy win." I wonder if their coach used that for motivation? Has to be the biggest upset ever.
  11. Syracuse is horrid. Seeing Washington smack them around makes me wonder what my guys will do to them in a few weeks at Papa John's (which by the way holds 42,000 currently but will be expanded to roughly 63,000 soon....which I personally don't think will be full unless it's UK or WVU visiting).
  12. Of all times to have the shows taped on the weekend it would have to be when a dozen guys are suspended for roids and other drugs. I'll be eagerly anticipating these upcoming spoilers, in a purely car wreck type way.
  13. Isn't it time to just give up on the Halloween series? The main problem it has always had is that Michael Myers just isn't all that interesting of a character. He's not as twisted, clever, or terrifying as Freddy Kruger. His backstory and MO aren't as interesting as Jason Voorhees. Michael is just this guy that is a psycho. Let's face it, when the last decent movie in a franchise was made in 1981, it's time to give it up. Well, okay maybe Halloween 4 was a sorta decent **-**1/2 as well.
  14. In an odd way though I'm not sure the angle did much for RVD. Or maybe it sorta did but it didn't, as in he was booked great on the ECW side of it as a traitor, but a traitor that had some viable complaints with Heyman and ECW. On WWF TV though RVD and the other ECW guys were mostly midcard filler though and it hurt my own perception of Van Dam as a wrestler. In other words I didn't really think much of RVD until that angle was finished and then he moves on to beat Bigelow for the ECW TV title.
  15. Yeah I knew that Brandi is now the Patriot but I was referring more to why he left the WWF. Did they just release him randomly?
  16. I used WVU instead of U of L in that scenario since they are currently higher ranked. Now I do think of someone like Rutgers or USF ran the table they would still be on the outs, and considering Rutgers' pathetic schedule it might be justified (USF is at least playing Auburn). Here is one thing that makes me wonder about the SEC's greatness. Friggin UK finished 3rd in the East and made a bowl. I can't think of one decent team UK beat all last year, with the possible exception of Georgia, and UGA was crap last year and could barely beat Colorado.
  17. Judging by the amount of guys that just got suspended it looks like it's business as usual anyway. The 1997 ECW Invasion angle was never really meant to be a big deal, just there to promote ECW's first PPV and it petered out on WWF TV soon after. On ECW's end it was more significant since they got wide exposure on national TV and some guys like RVD got over with it.
  18. This might sound strange but when exactly did the NWA cease being involved with WCW? I recall the NWA stuff lasting until sometime in 1993, which was insanely confusing since they had 2 different world titles in the promotion and there was no brand split like with WWE.
  19. I remember when Sincere was repackaged a bit and was his real name, Tom Brandi. He briefly feuded with Marc Mero over Sable I think. Not sure what happened to the guy, but I assume he was released around that time. I didn't think he was that bad actually.
  20. You gotta love people pimping the SEC incessantly with the notion of "There isn't an off night in the conference!" I'd like to know what that crap was tonight for LSU with Miss St. ESPN has gotten so full of shit with their college coverage. Like this stuff saying even a 1 loss SEC team should still make the title game over an unbeaten Big East team. Let's say WVU runs the table....how the hell is anyone from the SEC going to the title game considering WVU is #3 right now (with I'm assuming a 1 loss LSU or Florida)? These people are morons.
  21. I actually really dug that Shiek/Backlund title change. Really good match for the time period and the psychology was solid, with Sheik working the injured arm and neck of Backlund.
  22. See, the not so secret aspect of the Wellness Program is that WWE doesn't really want to catch anyone. It was obviously bullshit from day one, just there to feed the occasional jobber to the public to show that the system "works." I wouldn't be shocked if there is someone within WWE that will start providing these various guys with new doctors that aren't as easily found out.
  23. After reading that it's time for WWE to throw a huge amount of money at Chris Jericho and RVD to get someone on Raw. They really should consider when these guys should be suspended from TV. As in write them out of the show for a while instead of guys just vanishing and stuff.
  24. Eh, well if it is a suspension without pay then that would suck to be injured like Edge and then not get money as well. Personally I think they should just announce it now and not wait until Nov. Make this stuff public and get rid of the speculation.
  25. I wonder if they realize that removing anything even remotely Benoit related might actually draw more attention to these shows than if he was just left in. What, are people suddenly going to start worshipping Satan and killing each other because they saw Benoit as a lumberjack in a crappy Kane and Mark Henry match?
