Everyone seems to be forgetting something: SMDN is taped. We likely won't even see the Eddie miscues, provided there actually were any notable ones. Stuff like a headscissors would be hard to pull off in a Royal Rumble setting anyway....lots of guys most likely.

Face it guys: there is no explanation for why Benoit left Smackdown. No matter what they come up with it makes no sense. Just let the man cash his paycheck and do the job for HHH, and the world will turn. I'm stoked about this Eddie thing. I am betting we get the Goldberg run in at NWO to cost Brock the title, which normally is a lame way for someone to win the title but for Eddie works just fine (cheating to win is his mantra). I'd say Eddie will pull out every cheap trick he can think of to win the title, and it'll be sold as a monumental upset.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Desperado or Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Both of those are hilarious I think.

That would be So. Miss that plays Cincy tomorrow. They've actually been doing well after the ass kicking U of L put on them so Cincy might have a game there. In Hattiesburg too.
-
Is Eddie even in the Rumble? I thought he was just facing Chavo.
-
Dude, U of L already beat 2 #1 teams this year in FL and UK. I know Maryland beat em before we did but still. And my god, how glorious was it to see U of L just open the unmitigated can all over Cincy? I'm in heaven right now. Can't have the letdown in Knoxville Sunday however....UK barely escaped with the win there the other night.

I also got the new Offspring CD. I liked it quite well, but I like all of their CDs. This was the album where it really dawned upon me how different they sound now compared to stuff like Smash. This sounded like a bunch of technically proficient studio musicians rather than Dexter, Noodles, and Co. playing on it. I know that Ron Welty quit and they got a new drummer (the dude from Perfect Circle I think?), but the overall sound in general didn't seem like Offspring.

The whole RVD/HHH thing at Series 2002 was more about the goofy never before done Elimination Chamber and not being tall enough for RVD to do the move properly in. Even HHH has gone on record saying that he doesn't blame RVD for it, and in fact said that RVD did as good a job as possible of PROTECTING him or it could have been a lot worse.

Has there ever been a less-convincing title threat
cabbageboy replied to AnonymousBroccoli's topic in The WWE Folder
I actually think that this feud has been fairly well done. It's hard to screw up a "You broke my neck you bastard" type feud. Hell, at least this feud has a feasible backstory and Holly is a decent enough wrestler. Do I think he's going to win? No. But I think he might be on such a kamikaze mission to injure Brock that he'll soften Brock up for him to lose to someone at the next PPV before WM. -
Let's not get carried away here with UConn. I mean the same week they killed OU they beat Rutgers by 1. I dare say UNC might take them out this weekend. Combine that with Wake likely laying down at Cameron and we have the national nightmare..... Duke at #1. As far as UK goes, I think U of L completely exposed all of their weaknesses. It's just a matter of time before someone in the SEC capitalizes (Miss St. basically did but gave up the garbage basket). UK's probably the weakest team in the top 5 right now, well, until St. Joes gets into it. Watch out for the U of L/Cincy game next Wednesday. We should be able to take them here at the Hall, but if Cincy comes out with the win you can just book them for San Antonio right now.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned who the Guerreros were wrestling during all this: The Former Team Angle. Since Kurt's come back and seems to be set for a heel turn of some sort don't you think he'd want his boys back in the fold? I'm sure they have SOMETHING to do with this, though I'm hazy on what at this point. Here's what we have: this tenuous Eddie/Chavo/Angle stuff continues until they have a match at WM. At WM Chavo does a full fledged heel turn and joins Team Angle along with Kurt, Haas, Benjamin.

I'm just assuming that ol Sloth got whacked once the Rohirrim charged. There might be a scene like this. The Saruman stuff of course will be on the EE DVD. I'd also expect the whole Eowyn/Faramir romance subplot to be put back in as well. That will be a lot of stuff actually. Aragorn vs. Sauron in the Palantir as well. The Mouth of Sauron scene at the gates of Mordor. I'm not sure of this but I heard a rumor that Sauron himself will appear in the EE, though I have no idea where.

I doubt the Wachowskis are going to be too upset about the marketing scheme. I'm just glad that the US didn't fall for the Revolutions hype the way the rest of the world did. It's interesting to note that ROTK might be the only LOTR to be the biggest hit of its year. FOTR finished slightly behind Harry Potter in 2001, and Two Towers finished behind Spidey last year.

Those were mostly good points, lemme discuss one in particular: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): You were right about Aragorn and the Dead Guys being sorta forgotten, and the EE will likely rectify this. See, I'm assuming they took those ships from the pirates that were mentioned earlier. So that fight scene will likely be in the EE DVD. I actually heard the EE of ROTK will end up being something like 4 hours and 50 minutes! -

I saw it again yesterday and liked it better. Then again I saw it at the midnight showing and was in the 3rd row of a BIG ASSED theater and the screen was scorching my eyes. Heh. I haven't seen Eastwood's movie, and it's probably a quality film, but frankly there's nothing in it that can possibly be better than this. Seriously, if ROTK doesn't win best picture it'll be a travesty. Especially if it loses to a surefire turd like Cold Mountain. My mom is notoriously hard to impress. After seeing some real good movies at the theater she doesn't hardly have anything to say. After ROTK she was like "That had to be the best movie I've ever seen. It's either that or Gone With the Wind." -

The long ending will be put more in perspective once you try and watch all of these together. Then you'll see the reasoning behind stuff like: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Sam checking out that Rosie chick in the first film, then getting married to her at the end of ROTK. Or....Sam and Frodo discussing how sad it is to see the Elves leave for the Gray Havens, only to have Frodo leave as well at the end of ROTK. If you look at it as just a long ass ending to ROTK, you're shortchanging yourself. If you look at it as tying up everything in the trilogy, it makes a bit more sense. -
Where's the Gimli love? I'll go with John Rhys Davies, my dad and I thought he stole the 2nd movie (though admittedly he doesn't do much of note in the 1st). How would anyone consider Sean Bean the weak link in the FOTR cast? I found Boromir a hell of a lot more interesting than Aragorn in that one.

Speaking of Cold Mountain, why exactly is this getting so many Golden Globe nominations? I mean on rottentomatoes.com it had a rotten rating for a while, and has now barely crept above the 60% Mendoza line. It reeks of a "prestige" picture that isn't any good that is merely there to get awards. -
Sean Connery Originally Asked To Star In
cabbageboy replied to Jonathon's topic in Television & Film
If Connery turned down the Matrix movies because he didn't understand the script...can you really blame him? I think he was asked to play Morpheus in it. Somehow I can't imagine Connery at his age busting out with all the kung fu. In LOTR I'm guessing he was asked to play Gandalf, but personally I think he would have been better as Theoden than Gandalf. -

If I'm Peter Jackson I would take the comment that the film seemed rushed at 3 1/2 hours as a compliment. It seemed like to me that the movie was just zooming by. This will also be the one of the three best aided by the EE. In that we'll likely have: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The cut Saruman scene where Wormtongue turns on him and kills him. The Eowyn/Faramir romance subplot that was all but hacked out of the film (you can see them together at the coronation, but that's about it). Maybe a cut scene with Aragorn and the Army of the Dead capturing the ships from Sauron's mercenary pirate dudes. -

I went to the midnight screening as well. First time I've ever done that, and since I have yet to fully recover it might be the last. Heh. The theater I was in was like friggin Woodstock. Three big assed theaters, not the crackerjack new kind, but a REAL theater, big ass screens, and they were all damn near packed. Or at least mine was, I'm assuming the others were as well given the amount of cars in the parking lot. Most of the time crowds are reserved where I live, but this was different. People were MARKING OUT for stuff! To wit: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The biggest mark out for the audience was Legolas killing the elephant beast, then Gimli's classic line "That still only counts as one!" People were clapping, rooting, etc. The Eowyn/Witch King thing got some decent reaction but not huge cheer. I base this on the Witch King not really having done much of note in the film....either that or people in Louisville don't react that much to chicks killing a major heel. Hard to remember what the crowd loved, just a bunch of Aragorn stuff, Sam got good reactions, etc. That said, it wasn't the best movie ever or anything. In fact I probably preferred The Two Towers, since it has a better array of major heels in Saruman and Wormtongue. I think I might also be the only one who prefers Helms Deep to the Minas Tirith siege. -
The thing lost in this thread amidst bannings and all that is that RVD's prime ended a while ago. I gotta think his prime was over once they jobbed him to HHH repeatedly and he stopped giving a shit.

Peter Jackson wants to make "The Hobbit".
cabbageboy replied to Skywarp!'s topic in Television & Film
The Hobbit would basically be the Phantom Menace of LOTR. Everyone knows the basic stuff that happens in it by just watching the first 5 mins of FOTR anyway. It'd be a curio more than something people would be dying to see. Liv Tyler isn't shoved down our throats in the movies....I dare say if anything her part is TOO SMALL. I mean she's supposed to be the main female love interest, yet she's hardly in the movies. Where they truly shove her down our throats though is in these prime time TV specials. They always seem to interview her and show her scenes, yet she's not remotely a major part of the movies. -
Fuck no. Austin FINALLY put the Rock over this year, why on earth would he need the win back? He's like 193-1 vs. the guy lifetime.

Okay, time to pull the plug on this feud. I mean, I can see why Haas and Benjamin would be pissed here. They are probably the best long term tag team on SMDN, yet are being used as jobber bait for two guys who are bound to be feuding anytime now. I can see Eddie being angry though, especially if he had reason to think that Haas was intentionally trying to take him out as a receipt for an honest mistake in an earlier match.
