  1. Unfortunately, we are "serviced" by TimeWarner. Their best service is fucking their customers in the ass.
  2. I'd care if the game were being televised here. Apparently, airing this game would interfere with Extra Innings busy schedule of airing a screen featuring tomorrow's seven games...on every channel.
  3. ... You know there are other sports sites on the interweb.
  4. What an embarrassment.
  5. I love you, David Ortiz.
  6. Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, the unstoppable force of nature on FOX's 24. Jack has a wonderful "the ends justify the means" personality. He will stop at nothing to get information, apprehend a suspect, or stop the world from ending. He has lost numerous people that he was close to, which only makes him shut himself off from everyone else even further. Sutherland plays him very well and has been acknowledged for it. Prior to being Jack Bauer, Sutherland was probably best known for...being...um...a charactor actor? Or for being ditched by that hussy Julia Roberts. Jack Bauer propelled Sutherland to stardom.
  7. Wanted: Shortstop The Boston Red Sox are looking for a major league shortstop that is capable of swinging the bat and making GOOD contact with the baseball. Defense is a plus, not required. Interested parties contact Theo Epstein.
  8. I had a friend in highschool that would give people however many cents for their birthday. Like, when I turned 14, he gave me 14 cents in a birthday card. And I gave him a slap in the face.
  9. GET YOUR WATER, NON-PERISHABLE FOOD AND BATTERIES!!!!! HUNKER DOWN!!! I'm pissed that almost all of the Winn Dixie's have closed. I used to get my supplies there...nobody else went there.
  10. Yeah, there's no reason to break your budget, even if he's your best of best friends.
  11. The girlfriend and I will be checking this out in the afternoon during the week. Too many kids on weekends. It does look funny though...more entertaining than CARS.
  12. That walk-off grand slam by that dude on Clemson will probably get his knob polished a few times upon returning to school. Whattamoment.
  13. People who do not pay attention and then blame someone else for an obvious error (not reading packaging is the big one). We saw this in person while in line to return something at Target. A woman was raising holy hell because she bought a PC-CD version of the GAME Cars (the movie that just came out...yesterday? I think yesterday). She was returning it because SHE THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUCKING MOVIE ON DVD. Despite the fact that a quarter of the fucking box said in black and white "PC-CD CDROM". She was bitching at the girl behind the return counter because she bought it as a gift for someone and it was labelled wrong, she doesn't know what PC-CD CDROM means, etc.etc. Of course, she doesn't have the receipt. She finally gave up with the poor girl at the counter and demanded a manager. While waiting for the manager, the girl helped the next person in line (some broad in front of us) and the complaining customer looks at me and remarks "Can you believe it? I can't believe they'd label it wrong!" to which I remarked "Yeah, it's almost like they labelled it as a computer game! I can't believe a movie that came out yesterday WOULDN'T be out on dvd!" real sarcastic like. She shot me a death glare and turned around. I didn't see how it turned out, but I hope she gets hit by a fucking bus.
  14. My question is why they get to delay the starts of games by 20 minutes for their awful pregame show. They air TWIB before the game, change that to 12p, have your stupid unwatchable pregame show at 1230 and then start the fucking games at 1. Jeanne Zalasko looked like she was wearing a fucking picnic table cloth today. She's annoying, she brings nothing to the table. KK's rant on performance enhancing drugs was hilarious. "Get rid of the cheaters and drug users. Make it like the old days." Brilliant, KK. Eat a bullet.
  15. Indeed it was. That was the first night since Nomah was a member of the team that I actually hated him.
  16. Padilla looked good after Trawt took him yard in the first. He didn't really allow much after that and only walked one. Wake looked pretty good again tonight, but Hansen got in trouble, blowing Wake's win and making Papelbon come in early. I too was impressed at him hulking up after giving up the run, throwing mid-nineties in the pouring rain, and accurately. The splitters he threw to Wilkerson were just filthy. Lester makes his major league debut tomorrow afternoon. FOX had damn well better carry the game, and Pinella had better not act like a total fucking knob in the booth.
  17. He paid Steinbrenner 5K or so to get a new one made.
  18. the leyritz interview was on Opie and Anthony. It was a pretty good and entertaining interview (he had good stories about his ex-wife pawning his 1996 world series ring and hating Jose Canseco), but he came off as kind of an ass about the entire steroids thing. It's a rough quote, but he brought up Grimsley and basically said "Why rat out everyone else?" and seemed to sour on Grimsley for turning over. Granted, Grimsley could be perceived as a rat, but Leyritz is basically saying that they have always done amphetamines, even back to the good ol' days, and he's pissed that Grimsley has screwed it up for everyone else. Overall, it was a good interview, but I disagree with Leyritz' attitude towards the steroids/amphetamines.
  19. - Holding the door for someone and not getting thanked. Seems to happen to me an awful lot. - Allowing someone to walk in front of you (say, you're walking into a store in the mall and they're walking past the store) and not getting thanked. - Bad drivers. - Buying used dvd's and seeing how fucking scratched and useless they are. We bought some used dvd's at gamestop the other night. I asked to see the discs before I paid for the movies. The disc for Dark Water looked like someone tried to clean it with sandpaper. Ugh. - Bubbly cashiers who are peppy and try to find out more about you. Leave me alone. I acknowledged you and know that you're doing your job, but I'm clearly not trying to carry on a conversation. I don't care about you, your boyfriend or your stupid dog. Go shit in your hat. - On the flipside, retail people that complain nonstop when they're ringing you up. "I haven't had a break all afternoon...I'm tired...We've been soooo busy...etc.etc." repeat ad nauseum. Don't like the job? Quit. Don't bitch to me. I don't want to hear it.
  20. I don't care about either sport, but I'll actually watch the World Cup. The most NASCAR that I've ever watched is sitting through highlights on ESPNNEWS while reading the ticker or waiting for an elaboration on a story. Worldwide though, NASCAR isn't a dot on the map. F1 and other types of that kind of racing are popular, but soccer is one of the most popular, if not THE most popular sport on five of the six habitable continents.
  21. Bold prediction: Brandon Arroyo drives in more runs by himself than the Cubs score in the game.
  22. Congrats to the Oilers. Thanks for playing, boys.
  23. Maybe not, but it certainly doesn't help that it's not available in those markets.
  24. It's embarrassing but not the end of the world. The NHL's popularity isn't going to be sky-high after a labor dispute, especially when their main cable network isn't in every major market yet. It's going to be a long road back, but they have things going for them right now. OLN is bending over backwards for them, they'll be getting picked up in new markets next season for sure, the playoffs have been pretty good, and there is a wealth of young, marketable stars that fans are actually able to *GASP* watch! Instead of ESPN's Red Wings Hockey Night, there are games between two lesser known teams, showcasing their stars. The NHL is never going to get back to the type of popularity that it once had. Football is just WAY too popular and easy to like. But they are on the right track to clearing their names and getting back in the good graces of the public. It's not going to happen overnight, but it will happen. For those reasons, I say stick with OLN. They've done an admirable job and without them, the NHL would have been on public access television all season. They are remaking their channel to accomodate for hockey, I'd say give them a few more years at least. With ESPN, you know what you're getting (Red Wings, Avs, Stars, Flyers) and FSN does a decent job with regional coverage, but it's just that. Regional. It's the same type of thing that baseball has. National broadcast (ESPN and FOX) and a flurry of regional ones as well (FSN, NESN, YES, etc.)
  25. OLN's not in nearly as many markets as ESPN. Ouch.
