Eh, Curtis went out like a little bitch, too.

Charlie's death is still one of the top five moments of the series. Just don't ask me to fill in the other four.

Less significant, but they also closed the book on all their arb. eligible players by signing Javy Lopez.

I think it depends on the team and the market. If we stick to the Patriots/Lions comparison, the Patriots should obviously be trying to put a competitive product on the field at all times. Since the team recently won a few championships, the expectation is that they continue to compete at the highest levels. For the Lions, they should really be making moves just to get to the show once and then build from there. In addition to spending money, teams need to compete to lure free agents. The same goes for basketball, where one player can make all the difference (see also James, Lebron). Although this point really doesn't hold for baseball or hockey. Those two sports seem to be places you can develop long-term with homegrown, cheap talent and be competitive at the highest levels.

CNN only chimed in to point out the novelty that Obama became President at noon, regardless of oath.

Andy outsmarting Dwight in his Prius was awesome. The rest- meh. A necessary transition show, but otherwise forgettable.

Fixed.

I agree- I thought it was a nice balance of reality (the "blah blah blah" bits) and sweetness (just holding hands). I originally thought I'd be upset that there would be episodes where entire characters never make an appearance, but they've handled it well so far.

Yeah, that didn't take long at all. Yay for Chloe, though.

Her look of horror is almost enough to make up for the fact that he won't be able to have kids.

Personally, I'm just glad that Jim Rice is in so he'll stop bitching about it.

That little fucker still creeps me out.

While minor, was anyone else put off by the first son already allegedly killing himself? It seemed like we were dropped into a storyline out of thin air, and I really couldn't have cared less.

You should give Redemption a chance. It starts slow, but the second half is entertaining. I first watched the first six seasons on DVD, so this whole "waiting to see what happens" thing is foreign to me. Glad it's starting with basically four straight hours, but I hope it retains my interest once a week has gone by.

The games have been really good for the most part, even if the teams you wanted to win didn't. What games were you watching yesterday? Turnovers don't make really good games.

Drop 10 friends, get a free BK Whopper. What a great way to filter out the nonsense.

He was a good coach, and well-liked, but they were looking for somebody who was going to stick around for a while. Apparently Jags was told Saturday not to interview for the job or he'd get canned, but alas, away he went. Maybe that's an indication of the demand for his talents.

Awesome start. I'm really digging the new interns, too. Denise is fucking great.

The "Interns" webisode was not terrible. Here's hoping they can pull one last decent season together.

Not to mention no Josh McDaniels, who called as much as he could to protect Cassel's poor arm. Something like 55% of the passing yardage gained by the Patriots were YAC, by far tops in the league. I can't think of many places that need a QB with WRs like that. Edit: link.

Are Phil Hughes and Alfredo Aceves ready to compete on the big stage? Legitimate question.
