Ugh. I already can't stand the never-ending season. You play for ten months out of the year, in 300 games lasting 5 hours each to make the playoffs, and then you're gone after a week. Everything about baseball needs to be more compact. The playoffs don't have to be longer, but I won't put up with meaningless teams playing longer than they have to.

Time is forgiving, but the desert is not. One month can be a lifetime when you're stuck with the buzzards, but you must take a step back, and do some true looking inward. The sheriff gave you that oppurtunity for a reason, boy. Even the youngest cowpoke can find that he has the soul of a true desperado in him, all it takes is time.

Don`t do a cross-country trip. You can get a favorable microcosm of the whole country by staying in California. Nature-wise it has all of the beaches, mountains, forests, deserts, etc. you could want, including snowy areas. The people in Southern California are different enough from the North so that you`ll have a different enviornment to observe. Go to the east area, away from the coast to get that kind of Middle-America feel. LA would be difficult to navigate without a car because it is sprawly, but it`s worth it.
