  1. I was afraid the secret get out but I might as well not try to deny it any more: The only way I'd be open to underrating Lutter's takedowns is if UFC showed footage of him taking Lindland down. Color me embarassed.
  2. I'll likely be forced to abandon my usual beer snobbery in favor of cheaper shit.
  3. Very nice contributions by all. Well played.
  4. GSP as the Omar of Montreal would be awesome. "Matt Serrah does not 'ave the 'art to step to me". Afterwards we'd get a scene of Serra, Ray Longo, Drago and George sitting around and Serra bustin' out the "He call me a punk?! He put my name in the streets?!" speech Marlo did when he was locked down.
  5. There's no way it's on free tv. Absolutely no way.
  6. I'm at work, it's difficult sticking my head inside the desk drawer to sneak sips off my flask.
  7. We need to make a concerted effort to not get, ya know, too messed up before the show. Having said that, drinks prices will be ridiculous so we need to sufficently pre-drink enough. It'll be a tightrope of booze.
  8. Get ready to spend all of Saturday night comforting me. ....................... Oh God. That won't be interpreted well.
  9. Yes but none of them having the biggest draw in MMA in the main event.
  10. So, I'm playing the "Who could I potentially meet?" game by matching up fighters with camps. So far I've got........ Cain Velasquez- Trains with AKA so could meet Swick, Koscheck, Prangley, Fitch or Josh Thomson. Ed Herman- Lindland, Hendo and other TQ dudes. Bisping- Splits his time between Big Bear and England but hopefully dudes like Rampage or Vera are with him. Kalib- ATT so.........a lot of potential guys. Bring JZ!!! McCarthy is also ATT so I imagine they'll be in the house pretty good. Stout- I could give a shit about Tomkins guys but hopefully he brings up Tyson Griffin, Joe Daddy or Gray Maynard. GSP- Jardine, Nate and Rashad hopefully
  11. I've seen Hughes' wife. GSP has likely pulled better chicks but I'm still not denying that he stacked the bitch like a bale of hay.
  12. It's funny how an ass-beating can improve your feelings towards a fighter. After seeing Hughes go back into his corner after the first round against GSP I almost, almost felt bad for him but it genuinely brings a smile to my face that after everything that GSP has done to Hughes he can still man up and cheer for him.
  13. I'd put it in the most serious of doubts that Spike was ever offered it in the first place. UFC would be pissing away a ton of money giving a Chuck fight away on free tv.
  14. It's all being blown out of proportion. GSP has said that win or lose he'll shake Serra's hand afterwards and buy him a drink. I imagine Serra will take the same route. Or at least I hope he will. I'm pretty sure Serra knows what he's up against so he's getting his boys (Sell, George Soitoropolos) to start talking a big game hoping to get into GSP's head. In some fight-related news Matt Hughes has posted on his website that if Serra loses on Saturday that he's asked UFC for that to be his return fight.
  15. JEEEEEEEEEEEESUS is GSP ever reaching into his awesome quote-bag to hype this show.... On an MMAWeekly interview.... "Don't blink" "People will see stuff I've never shown before. Some stuff people have never seen before in MMA." "If I win this fight by decision I'm not going to be satisfied. I want to end the fight, to take him out." I had a bit of a freak-out last night watching the GSP special on TFN. I don't recall much of what I said but do remember the phrases "Guinea cunt" and "Wop piece of shit" were used.
  16. I was looking forward to Tapia/Torres but this is a perfectly acceptable alternative.
  17. Tong, am I psyching myself out with this whole "Serra has a good chance of winning" thing or is this a much tougher fight for GSP then people are willing to admit?
  18. I can't see it being 2 hours. Those five + the finale fight are going to push it over 2 and they usually showcase the guys who didn't make it to the finals but still did well. The amount of fights on the card is (naturally) spawning a bunch of rumors that this season is so weak in terms of fight quality and fighter quality that UFC has needed to resort to settting up non-TUF fights for the finale.
  19. So long as we get a trianglebomb spot I'll be happy. Speaking of the TUF finale for a non-UFN show it's looking decent if not unspectacular given the lineup.... Diego vs Luigi Fiorivanti Burkman vs Dustin Hazlett McFedries vs Eastman Stephens vs Fisher Tanner vs Grove
  20. I can't recall the Rivera fight but I know that with the Shamrock, Tanner, Quarry and Loiseau fights that Franklin wasn't put on his back. Granted I can't recall if any of the above-mentioned tried for a takedown so it's a bit of a moot point. Either way I'll cop to Lutter have an advantage on the ground but I don't see it even getting there. Franklin is going to be out for blood in this fight. Why, I don't know.
  21. Okay, that was what, four years ago? I'd be willing to wager that Frankin's takedown-d has improved by then. I've yet to see evidence of Lutter having good takedowns and for the love of God don't say Silva because he didn't have functional knees at the time. But hey, if Franklin is in the same realm of Scott Smith and Cote as far as defence goes he's a dead man.
  22. Jeremy Stephens made a post on his MySpace that he'll be fighting Spencer Fisher on the TUF Finale show on June 21'st. Nothing confirmed, camp-wise or with UFC management though. I.......luv........that......fight. Buckwild shit.
  23. I'll for sure be cheering for Bisping. Hopefully we get "London Calling" for entrance music again. I dunno about Lutter though. I don't doubt he carries the skill and technique to submit Rich but getting him down and more importantly, holding him down will be his issue. Okami was able to keep Rich down but couldn't tap him. I don't see Lutter having the takedown skills to put Rich down and force him into a position to get subbed.
  24. I'm actually considering picking Serra in my pool at work on the basis that if he loses I'll be too happy to care about losing money but if he wins I'll at least have some money to come back to on Monday.
  25. I think GSP would be able to handle Serra on the ground but I don't think he'd be nearly effective as against Hughes or Koscheck due to Serra's submission game. It's weird, thinking it over. I can see GSP winning by decision, knockout, stoppage or submission. I can only see Serra winning by KO. And even though GSP's options are more varied I still think Serra by KO is just as valid a bet on its own.
