Is the Final Fantasy game due out next month supposed to be any good?
-
I made some edits to this. Changed around some fighters... got rid of the prospects section, deleted the IFL. I decided to wait until after their second show to see what's going on with Affliction and include them in the organizations list. Looking over the roster for that first show it's hard to tell who is signed to them and who is a hired gun.

Brock via GnP in about a minute and a half. Maybe less.

I like that matchup. Matt has come a long way, seemingly, since TUF3 and that fight might be a lot more even than people think. Since Rich is a small LHW, Matt might be able to take him down and impose his will. If it stays on the feet though, Rich will murder him. Matt's gotten to be a better striker but he's still not on Rich's level. As for the move up - he's got to. Even if he wins 10 fights in a row at MW no one wants to see him get another title shot. -
Or the greatest thread in the history of the sports folder, the 2003 postseason thread. What? I'm the only one who thinks so?

Amazingly the Marlins are only 1 game back of the Phils after 81 games. Josh Willingham, Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez are all coming back after very long injuries. 50 games for Willingham and over a year each for Johnson and Sanchez. If one of those two pitchers regain their form then it's going to be a very tight race, I think. This is very exciting because I wrote the team off preseason and wasn't expecting this at all.

A $16.99 pricetag is about what it would take for me to buy the steaming pile that was Season 6. I'm probably going to have to get it eventually, though.

My favorite part was when Great movie. Jeff Garlin was pretty good as the captain.

Nice. Glad to see we're finally moving along.

This thread is like hitler.

Wall-E stands at 98% fresh right now at rottentomatoes and would be 100% minus two poorly written reviews from minor league critics most likely looking for attention. I'm probably going to check this out on a sunday matinee but I have really been looking forward to it ever since I saw the first preview about a year ago. Pixar hasn't missed yet and it appears that's still the case after this weekend. This marks 9 consecutive movies that were critically acclaimed and unless something goes wrong this weekend... huge box office hits. Surely, they have to make a bad movie sometime right? Anybody see it yet? Anybody else planning to? If I wasn't so busy this weekend I'd probably be going before Sunday. It looks like a really fine film.

To the surprise of probably no one I will select BJ Penn.

I don't think we should each have to pick a certain weight class in each round because then the guys in the middle will never have a #1 ranked fighter. I think it's just best available... need to fill all weight classes. I'm telling you right now that I'm not thinking HW at #2.

I know I'm in the strict strict minority here but I love The Fratellis. Their second CD is just as ridiculous and over the top as the first and (in my eyes) equally as awesome. It's just fun. They're a good singles band. I'm sorry but they are.

Here's what I propose. One guy from each main weight class, which works out to 7 guys. (HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW, FW, BW) Then we each get to pick 3 additional guys from whatever you want, which would include the super heavyweights or girls or what have you. So everyone gets 10 selections. So, let's say for instance that in round one I select B.J. Penn... I could still select Roger Huerta in round 3 as sort of a wild card selection but by the time I get to the end of all 10 rounds I would have to have someone from every weight class. I think that's the best way to do it. I'll do it as well.

They aren't messing around with Palhares. He beats Dan then he's right in line for a title. I did find it odd that Rogan kept bringing up Anderson Silva during the Salaverry fight... I guess he's getting groomed. -

Some rumored bouts floating around right now are Wanderlei vs. Thiago in a Silva vs. Silva matchup and Horodecki vs. Gomi at Sengoku 4. Apparently the option for Wanderlei was either Thiago Silva or Machida but it's looking like Thiago is the more likely opponent. I'm actually anxious to see who Machida fights next. -
I can't remember if this is Diego's first post TUF contract fight but either way he got a pretty nice raise. $70k up from $20k for a victory.

The Salaverry news is not unexpected. Goldberg and Rogan actually said that he had a great career after the Palhares fight so I think this was known for a bit. Affliction is $39.95. $5 cheaper than a UFC. I personally feel that it's worth it, though. And that will be the first PPV for me after my "hiatus". Speaking of which, I have been rewatching PRIDE DVDs while I eat my meals due to my lack of cable and I just thought I'd throw this out there... Mauro Ranello: worst play-by-play man of all-time? I'd have said yes for certain until Kenny Rice came along and now I'm not sure. Mauro's only crime is sucking at his job and making horrible puns, but Kenny Rice just oozes slime to me and comes across as a total creep and failure at life. I'm leaning towards Kenny. But Mauro...my god. "Ryo Chonan has a new tattoo signifying the god of thunder but he just got dropped by the lord of the lightning." Lord of the lightning = Dan Henderson. Give me a break. -
This is accurate. Once I finally stumbled through the KISS encore in the first set I've breezed through quite a few of them. Now I'm slightly stuck on "Same Old Song and Dance" but it's been getting much easier.

Well, at least this card proves that Dana isn't out to get IFL fighters, but obviously these aren't the top dogs. We need to see Horodecki and Heiron in the mix but at least it looks like Heiron will be. Roy Nelson = comeback fight for Mark Coleman. -
J-Roc/War Machine is no classic but I'll say that it doesn't look or feel out of place on the best of 2007 DVD. It was an entertaining fight.

That's bad but I'm not sure if it's worse than their review for Vampire Weekend. I hadn't read the review on the site but I knew after the first 'graph that that was a pitchfork review... No doubt about it. So about this new Coldplay... I know they have evoked a ton of discussion around here in the past. I don't have TV right now so maybe I'm not sick of the iTunes ad but I really like the single, Viva la vida. I also really like 42, Lost!, Strawberry Swing, and Death and All His Friends. This CD after one listen already blows X&Y out of the water and is right up there with Rush of Blood. Good stuff. I also got the new Hold Steady and got through maybe 4 of the songs. They're decent. I always love the lyrics and arrangements but I just wish the singer had a (much) better voice. I'll never get why Stereogum praises the ground the band walks on but I have to admit that they're pretty decent.
