Where the hell did I ever say I disliked the police? Jesus Christ, now you're making shit up.

NORTH and EAST are two different directions. Maybe your blind flaming has clouded your judgment of the facts. In two seconds? That's still one hell of a car. Is she sure it was white? Couldn't have been a black Trans Am with a flashing bar of red lights on the front? According to her own story (which is in that link that you could have clicked out of since it did take her like half the message to get to the drama), they were side by side when they finally got off to go to 52 East. They were supposed to see that license plate...how, exactly?

"Congratulations?" For what? I was asking a simple question which I presumed you could answer based on the fact that you actually spoke to her shortly after the incident. I thought it was a rhetorical question. You so rarely ask questions that you actually want to hear answers to that I assumed you were making an argument. No, it wasn't rhetorical. Do you intend to answer it? I assumed the cop was in the car, but she didn't say for sure. So I honestly don't know. But your assuming he might not have been there, and you don't know either.

Well, it doesn't cloud my judgment that when complete strangers are chasing somebody at 2:30 in the morning, even people who would normally know what they should do wouldn't think of doing it. Do you know that they slowed down at all? One car's going 85 in one direction, the other one is going a similar speed in another direction...there's what, two seconds to get that number down?
-
And if that's the case, then stopping could have gotten her killed. Congratulations.

I don't know any police officer who'd do that. Much more likely is that the officer in question was busy with something else and couldn't leave the scene. He'd still have helped if she'd stopped. What the fuck else could he have been busy with at 2:30 in the morning? Brushing his teeth? Getting a catnap before his morning doughnut? How do you know? Were you in the car with her? Because she actually called about 12 hours before she posted it here, so details like that were fresh in her mind. Her fault for leaving that out of her post, I guess. Yeah, because you can easily take a look at a number and read it when it starts moving further away from you. Probably, yes. It's nice to see your ego isn't hurt by your trauma of reading a situation somebody else had. I'd call that flaming somebody for the sake of flaming. By the way, why did you bother clicking the link in general chat if you don't like people making a public spectacle of their lives?

You know Marney, i really do like you. I like the fact that you can speak your mind and you don't really give a rat's ass what any of us think. It;s a good quality. But why is it that anytime anybody does something that you wouldn't have done, you have to go off the deep end and treat it like it's a personal front against you or something? "She didn't get the plate, so she's obviously stupid." No, she didn't get the plate because A) it was dark and B) these jackasses reversed their direction in order to follow her and her friend off the exit ramp. Jesus Christ, does nobody have the right to drive on the fucking freeway without being chased anymore? I will give you that she should have stopped when she got to the cop. of course, since the cop pretty much ignored somebody doing about 85 mph, maybe the cop would have been all "i'm on break" and completely ignored that four strange people were chasing her at 2:30 in the fucking morning! But hey, you would have done it differently, so she must be wrong, right?

nl5xsk1, I'm not trying to start something with you, but the only way in hell that Clemens would have hit Manny with that pitch is if Manny would have put his head completely over the plate. "Relatively inside"? Is that like saying Pedro threw his pitch "somewhat behind Garcia"? Trust me, if Clemens was trying to throw at Manny, everybody here would know it unless they kept their NYC sunglasses on. And this is coming from a guy who hates both teams and hopes the winning team has nothing left going into the World Series.

EDIT: Misread previous post

For the series, yes, but not the initial two hour pilot. I distinctly remember Hogan talking to Mean Gene about his KOTR match with Yokozuna and going "Why is Hogan making a movie when he's supposed to be defending the title?" And this was when I was still in my mostly mark days. Are you thinking of the Hulkamania part Whatever video, where Mean Gene interviews Hogan on the set of Suburban Commando, and talks up Lloyd and Duvall as "amazing actors" and talks in his "happy voice" when trying to sell the movie to the kids? You're seriously making me wish I was taping Raw and Superstars at the time, because it was definitely on the set of Thunder in Paradise. I remember it like it was yesterday. I do remember Hogan showing up on Prime Time Wrestling wearing his costume from Suburban Commando, but I was trying to block that out.

By everybody's account though, Jesse didn't start broadcasting until his illness because he couldn't wrestle a full schedule, and his first broadcast was WrestleMania, if I'm not mistaken. Plus Hogan was interviewed at that Spectrum show and mentioned Ventura being laid up in a San Diego hospital. So either Jesse got sick around this time or that's an eerie bit of foreshadowing.

Jeez. I take the day to watch football and generally goof off without being stuck to the computer and I get all this grief. Thanks for the birthday greetings, everybody. And Papacita, you cheap bastard, next year give Stacy some real money!

And by the time people finally do recognize your vast greatness, you will be forced to team with Joey Maggs exclusively on Worldwide before fading into obscurity.

A decent analogy with just one problem. Most people are simply rooting against Boston at this point rather than for the Yankees. If the Yankees win the Series, it'll be back to everyone outside of New York rooting for whoever they're playing again.
-
Studd was a replacement around the horn for Ventura around this time frame. Cawthon will likely hit on their Spectrum match on Tuesday morning (which I saw on tape today), which was won by Hogan via "pinfall" even though Studd clearly kicked out before three.

It's not about the Yankees. If the Red Sox beat the Yankees in fie and the Cubs beat the Marlins in five, it should end on the same day. They've accomplished the same thing, why should one get an advantage? And the AL winner has home field advantage and has less traveling distance, so it evens out. The AL earned the home field advantage. How did the NL earn the extra day? Or was that a consolation prize? Obviously, it's really done to make sure there's at least one game on TV every night before the Series. But maybe it's also done that way to make sure that things are as even as possible in the event that people complain about it.

Anglesault, can I just say boo the fuck hoo about your little whiny "The NL will have an extra day off" bullshit. You're going to have home field advantage and won't have to travel before game 1 (provided it goes 6 or 7), so knock it off. As far as the situation with that game goes: Pedro threw at Garcia. Boston fans can spin that however the hell they want to, but the bottom line is that Pedro Martinez's control is too damn good to go that far inside on anybody unless he's throwing at them. And then he essentially admits to it by pointing at his head, so he should be suspended for the rest of the postseason for it right there. Manny should have been tossed for charging the mound, and he should seek psychological help for thinking that pitch could have possibly hit him unless the stood on home plate. Pedro and Zimmer were both in the wrong in their little skirmish. If Zimmer was throwing a punch (and I saw the clip several times and couldn't tell for certain), then he should have gotten tossed to the ground. But Pedro has a history of being a chickenshit in a bench clearing brawl (I can't remember the game off the top of my head, but a couple of years ago he hit a batter, and when the retaliation and brawl started in the bottom half of the inning Pedro was the only one who didn't leave the bench), so a lot of people are going to assume that Pedro was being his usual chickenshit self by throwing down the oldest man on the opposing bench. And just to play devil's advocate for a second: Maybe Zimmer threw his punch because he thought Pedro might try something? Pedro didn't exactly stay in one spot when Zimmer came toward him. I didn't actually see the altercation in right field at the bottom of the ninth, but why in the fuck was a groundskeeper in the Yankee bullpen in the first place? Isn't the groundskeeping equipment on the Boston side of the field? But coming from a guy who came into this series rooting for the Red Sox, this was all started by Pedro and then by Manny, and the very fact that very few Boston fans seem to get that is exactly why people who are lifelong Yankee haters are hoping the Sox don't win another game at this point.

I have. And trust me, as soon as Stephanie McMahon hears about that (since she doesn't actually watch it despite being backstage when it's taped) that will change too.

SmackDown from JHawk's Beak (10/9/2003) I won't flame you if you actually liked this show, but I sure as hell won't agree with you.

I have a craving for crab legs after reading through this thread

I remember Russo saying somewhere that they didn't actually plan on revealing who did it, and that it was just an excuse to have Austin lose the match. There you go. Proof that Russo doesn't think things through.
